Chapter 20: Chapter 9: Peaceful For Now (Part Two)
I was in a dark room. The walls were completely black. I walked out of the room and into the hallway which felt like it expanded for miles and miles long but it didn't. At the end of the hallway, there was a brown wooden door which looked out of place. I slowly walked up to the door, I put my hand onto the doorknob then started to twist until I heard a voice, "don't go in there." Someone whispered but my curiosity got the better of me. Ignoring the warning, I twisted the doorknob and went inside. I walked inside of the room and the door behind me slammed shut then vanished into thin air. I banged on the wall where the door used to be screaming to let me out but it was no use, I was trapped. I turned around leaning against the wall when suddenly, a light flashed right in front of me revealing a mirror on the wall. I slowly started to walk up to it when the voice whispered again but this time something new, "don't go too close." This time, I heeded the voices warning and did not go to close to the mirror. I saw a reflection of myself but it was odd to say the least. The mirror wasn't mimicking what I did, it did what it wanted. I looked up and read on the top of the mirror, mischief. "Luna…" The person in the mirror who looked like me said creepily. "Come closer…" She said. I slammed my foot down.
"No, I'm staying exactly where I am." I said. "Very well then…" She sat down and the light moved onto a different mirror. The top read joy and another reflection yet not a reflection of me popped up with the most giant smile on her face. "Hi Luna!" She said over hyper. "What is this place?" I asked. She put her hands on her hips. "We're your emotions silly!" She started to jump up and down. "Why was I told not to go close to the mirrors then?" I asked. "Beats me!" Then the light went onto a different mirror. This one read truth. The reflection came out. "Ah Luna." It said calmly. "There was a voice, it told me not to go close to the mirrors, who was it?" I asked. "Well that would be me." Truth said. I scoffed. "This is all in my head isn't it?" I said. "You wanted the truth, I gave and that's what I gave you." The light turned and shined upon a different mirror. This mirror was different, there was nobody talking back to me, it was just me and me alone. I slowly walked closer to the mirror, closer than I should've. Then, I put my hand onto the mirror. "Well, I guess truth was lying." I said out loud.
Then, the mirror opened up, an arm pulled me through, and I fell. I screamed as I fell down a hole then I heard a voice while I was falling calling my name. "Luna," It said. "Luna." It said a little louder. "Luna!" It practically screamed at this point. I opened my eyes and was startled awake. "Woah." Orion said, taking his hands off of me. "Are you ok?" He asked. "Yea, i'm fine." I responded. "Good." It was already morning. I sat up to see Leo already awake. He hadn't even noticed I was up yet, he was just building something. "Good morning Orion." I said. "Good morning Luna." He replied. I stood up stretching my arms. I walked up to Leo tapping him on the back. "Good morning," I said. He turned around and his face was completely distorted. "Leo- what?" I turned around to find orion standing behind me and his face was distorted as well. "How could you Luna?" Leo said. "How could you lie to me?" Leo asked. "I did it to protect you!" I screamed. "That's what protection is?" I saw the person from the mirror truth standing to the side of me. "Lying to the ones who love you? You consider that sparing them?" She said disgusted.
"How could I ever tell Leo what he did? He attacked me! It would break him, don't you understand?" I pleaded with her. "I am you Luna and you are me. We have never lied to Leo before. Why start now?" She asked. "Tell him." Said Truth. "Tell him." Orion said. "Tell me!" Leo yelled. Voices whispered tell him around me. "Tell him and allow the truth to be set free! Tell him and you'll feel better! Just tell him." Truth said. The voices around me kept saying tell him. I dropped to the floor covering my ears and screamed. Then I jumped up panting and sweating. That was just a dream. I looked around. It was still early, the sun was just beginning to rise. since I figured I probably wouldn't be able to go back to bed anyway, I got up. Orion was probably somewhere else because I didn't see him and Leo was still sleeping. I stood up and started to walk toward the statue.
I decided to do something I didn't think I'd ever do again, something I hadn't done in a while. I climbed. Leo and I used to climb trees near the orphanage when we were little. It felt refreshing to do it again. I climbed up the statue feeling a jolt of adrenaline. Eventually, I reached the top and dangled my feet off of the edge of the statue watching the sunrise. I felt every last bit of moon energy on my skin as the sun outshined the moon. It was calming and I wished I could stay up here forever. I wished this would be the rest of my life but I think deep down I knew the peace wouldn't last forever.
Suddenly I heard a thump from behind me. I turned around to see Leo there smirking. "Did you fly up here?" I asked. He lifted his hands up. "Cheater!" I called out jokingly. "I just used what I had! Besides, were getting a little old for this shit don't you think?" He sat down next to me. He pulled out two bottles from his pockets. "I've been saving these for the perfect time to drink these. I think now is that time."
He handed me a bottle, and it was soda. "Cheers." Leo said. I remembered my dream and eventually I bursted out with, "Leo I lied to you." He quickly turned his head wondering what I meant. "When you had Mimics mark on you I said you didn't hurt anyone and that was a lie. You attacked me and Orion multiple times." I said. He remained quiet. "I'm so sorry I didn't tell you before." He smiled. "Luna, a few days ago all the memories of what I did under Mimics mark came back to me. For a while, I beat myself up about it but I know it wasn't me doing that. Didn't I tell you I always knew when you were lying?" I put my head on his shoulder. "I love you Leo." I said. "I love you too Luna." I put my hand on his and suddenly that was this white light that glowed in our hands. At first it was small but then it grew bigger and bigger until it created this wave of energy that sent Leo and I flying into different directions.
I watched Leo turn into an eagle then fly to come get me but he wasn't fast enough, I was already falling. My back was about to slam into the gate then Orion came and screamed "Luna!" He got a slab of stone from the ground and it caught me before I landed but not without consequence. As Orion slowly lifted me down I watched Leo turn back into himself. "What was that?" Orion asked. "I don't know. It was odd I had my hand on Leos then there was a burst of energy that came out." I said. "What color was it?" Orion asked. "White." Leo replied. "Raw moonlight." He mumbled under his breath. "What?" Leo asked. "Nothing, I'm glad you two are ok." He started walking away. "What do we do next?" I asked. "We prepare for the ritual." Orion replied. "Ritual?" Leo asked. "I'll explain on the way." So Leo and I followed him prepared to take on whatever would come next in our journey.
