Chapter 9: Reaper vs Fenrir
The Nightmare Fenrir growled deep in its throat, its massive claws ripping into the stone floor. The dungeon chamber trembled beneath its very presence.
Yami craned his neck, the black cloud of mist swirling around him growing thicker. His instincts were screaming at him—this monster was stronger than the Dungeon Guardian. Faster. Smarter. Deadlier.
But that just made it more fun.
The Fenrir's eyes glowed with an evil light, and in the next instant—
BOOM!
It vanished, moving at a speed that something its size shouldn't be able to achieve.
Yami's pupils shrank. Damn, it's fast—!
Phantom Step.
His body flickered just as claws carved through his afterimage, the sheer force of the attack shattering the stone floor.
Reappearing on the Fenrir's blind side, Yami didn't hesitate—
SHING!
Both scythes slashed in an X-formation, aiming straight for its neck.
But—
CLANG!
The blades barely cut into the Fenrir's fur.
"What in the world is this thing made of?" Yami complained.
The monster turned, lashing at him with its tail.
This time, he was ready.
Phantom Step.
He burst above the Fenrir, writhing in mid-air.
"Let's see how you take that."
"Reaper's Dance!"
A whirlwind burst of slashes rained down on the Fenrir, black mist spilling from each slash.
SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!
For the first time in history, the monster screamed out in pain, dark energy flowing from its wounds.
Yami grinned. "Oh? You hurt."
But the Fenrir wasn't through.
As soon as Yami landed, its shadow expanded—
"Nightmare Domain!"
The entire chamber plunged into darkness.
Yami's body went numb for half a second, a shivering chill running down his back.
Something was wrong.
The dungeon wasn't just dark—it was as if his senses were disappearing. His grip on his scythes slipped, his breathing heavy.
It was sucking him dry.
All that he could make out in the void was the Fenrir's shining eyes.
Then—
A whisper.
"Die."
The monster struck and Yami barely had time to respond before giant fangs clamped shut on him.
