Chapter 767: Arrested
"What should we do?" Liu Bin asked.
"What can we do?" Zhang Feng said helplessly, "We can only hope that Xiao Han manages to turn the tide again."
.........
Xiao Han was escorted by two police officers into the police car.
"Can I make a call?" Xiao Han asked.
"No!" The square-faced officer replied harshly.
The driver of the car, however, said, "Let him make the call. He isn't a criminal yet, and even criminals have the right to make a phone call."
Despite remaining silent, square-face watched as Xiao Han took out his phone and dialed Mo Shaocong. Given the current circumstances, no one was more suited to resolve this issue than Mo Shaocong. Although Xiao Han did not like to trouble others, and could have resolved the issue through his own methods, reaching out to Mo Shaocong was the simplest and most definitive solution. Using any other means might lead to endless complications later on.
"Xiao Han, you've started school, haven't you?" Mo Shaocong laughed.
"Brother, where are you?" Xiao Han asked.
"I just got back from Magic Capital last night," Mo Shaocong chuckled. "What's up? You need something from me?"
"Ran into a bit of trouble!" Xiao Han said awkwardly.
"What trouble?" Mo Shaocong asked seriously.
Xiao Han rarely bothered him, so if he was reaching out and labeled it as a little trouble, there must be something serious, otherwise, he would not contact him. So, Mo Shaocong looked extremely serious.
"I hit someone, and now the police have taken me to the station," Xiao Han said with a wry smile. "I have no choice but to bother you, brother."
"I thought it was something major," Mo Shaocong laughed upon hearing it. "You hit someone in the provincial city? No matter who it is, I'll cover for you."
"Thank you so much, brother," Xiao Han said repeatedly.
"Xiao Han, we don't need to say thanks between us," Mo Shaocong said earnestly. "I truly consider you a brother."
"Mm-hm!" Xiao Han nodded.
After hanging up, square-face coldly observed Xiao Han and said, "I'm telling you, today it won't matter who you call."
"Is that so?" Xiao Han retorted.
"Even if you bring the Heavenly King himself, it won't help," square-face stated, clearly not believing Xiao Han could know any high-level figures. In his mind, Xiao Han was just a destitute student. Besides, before they were dispatched, they had investigated Xiao Han's background—a family from an ordinary household in Linjiang City. Although he scored full marks on his college entrance exam, what use was that in society? Connections would easily trump academic achievements. If he had even slight connections, wouldn't getting into a governmental position be far more beneficial than perfect exam scores?
Square-face looked at Xiao Han with disdain.
"Heh heh…" Xiao Han chuckled without saying a word.
The driver in the cabin regarded Xiao Han with a strange expression. His demeanor had been amiable throughout, not brazen like square-face. While his exact feelings were unclear, Xiao Han didn't find him displeasing, unlike square-face.
The police car soon arrived at the station.
According to the rules, the police station responsible should have been the one in University Town since each station had their own jurisdiction. However, this time the station from East City District had responded, meaning they had overstepped their bounds. There was a procedural error, though it wasn't considered major.
Once at the station, square-face smiled and said, "Let's go."
Xiao Han followed at a measured pace.
Upon entering the station, square-face led Xiao Han into the interrogation room. The room was dark, surrounded with reinforced steel, and contained a sobriety chair with fixed restraints for the hands and feet.
"Sit down!" square-face commanded.
"I'm not a criminal. Why should I sit here?" Xiao Han scoffed.
"Kid, when you're here, you do what you're told, or you'll regret it," square-face glared menacingly at Xiao Han. This kind of man, who was no stranger to dark deeds, obviously was not good news.
Xiao Han stared back coldly and then said, "What's wrong with this place? Is there no law in the police station?"
"Heh heh…" Square-face chuckled. "Here, my fist is the law."
"What audacity!" Xiao Han glared at him.
"Still don't believe it, huh?" Square-face, seeing Xiao Han's defiant glare, became incensed. He nodded coldly and said, "Okay, just you wait."
After saying this, square-face turned and walked out.
Xiao Han looked around the room, guessing that his adversary was definitely going to get reinforcements. The interrogation chamber seemed like a bird cage tucked into a corner, fortified all around, with no cameras or anything else.
Xiao Han took out his phone and turned on the video recording, secretly hiding it in a concealed corner.
Within minutes, square-face returned with four burly police officers, each wearing a sinister expression, seeming ready to revel in Xiao Han's misfortune. They appeared quite sinister.
"What is this for?" Xiao Han asked coldly.
"What do you think?" Square-face chuckled. "You're the little punk who won't listen, right? Today, I'm going to teach you a lesson."
With that, square-face gestured with his hand.
Click click click…
The four burly officers flexed their joints with cold laughter, "Kid, today you're just unlucky, crossing Young Master Huang."
Having said that, several men immediately pounced on him.
Bang bang bang...
After a flurry of punches and kicks, Xiao Han didn't resist. He used his arms to protect his body. Although the attackers were fierce, they didn't cause much harm. This lasted for a few minutes. Xiao Han decided it was time to fight back.
Bang bang...
Xiao Han pushed away the two police officers who were pressing him and swiftly ran to a corner.
He retrieved a cell phone from a hidden spot and turned off the video recording.
"You little jerk, you even dared to hide a cell phone here to record video?" a dark-faced police officer said with bulging eyes.
"What about it?" Xiao Han asked.
"Hit him for me," shouted the officer with a square face. "We must get the cell phone back."
Four burly police officers lunged at him.
Without uttering another word, Xiao Han grabbed a heavy sobriety chair weighing over one hundred kilograms and smashed it hard against them.
Bang...
The police officers were caught off guard, utterly unprepared. They were immediately flung backward. The chair, propelled by the massive strength in Xiao Han's arms, reached a weight of several hundred kilograms; such a hefty object hitting a person's body could have easily broken bones or limbs, but fortunately, it did not.
The four police officers glared at Xiao Han: "You little rascal, you dare assault a police officer!"
"You're done for!" the square-faced officer smirked coldly. "Intentional injury and now assaulting an officer; you're undoubtedly finished this time."
"Is that so?" Xiao Han smirked back, neither warm nor fiery.
"Hit him!" shouted the square-faced officer.
Then, the four officers, throwing caution to the wind, drew their batons and rushed towards Xiao Han.
Xiao Han was unfazed; he lifted his left foot and viciously kicked the man at the front right in the chest. The man immediately fell backward, his body slamming into an interrogation table behind him.
Xiao Han turned his body, took to the air with a leap, and executed a Whirlwind Kick that immediately sent two officers flying. The last chubby police officer stood dumbfounded, Xiao Han's movements were as sharp as if Huang Feihong himself had returned to life, leading him to awkwardly say, "You... you're quite skilled!"
"Thanks for the compliment!" said Xiao Han with a chuckle, and then delivered a flying kick.
Bang...
The man flew backwards, crashing into the square-faced officer, and both of them fell hard.
With a few kicks, Xiao Han had all his assailants groaning in pain, the entire room of five laid out flat.
The square-faced officer was furiously indignant: "You're finished, completely finished!"
Attacking police in the station was no small crime. Given those blows, Xiao Han, without any connections, was surely doomed. Knowing the square-faced officer's temperament, Xiao Han figured he'd be carried out of the station horizontally.
Just as the square-faced officer was furiously preparing to call someone, suddenly, Mo Shaocong walked in with a frail looking man.
"You…" The square-faced officer recognized Mo Shaocong immediately and hurriedly said, "Mo... Young Master Mo, what brings you here?"
"Oh, I'm here to find someone!" Mo Shaocong said indifferently.
"Who are you looking for?" asked the square-faced officer, startled. "The chief? The chief…"
"No, I'm looking for him!" Mo Shaocong said with a smile.
The square-faced officer turned to look at Xiao Han and said: "Him?"
"Yes!" Mo Shaocong nodded and then declared, "He's my brother!"
"No... no way?" Upon hearing this, the square-faced officer's face instantly paled, looking very ugly as he hurriedly said, "How could this kid be Young Master Mo's brother? He's just a poor student, and moreover... he beat Young Master Huang quite badly yesterday."
"That's right." Mo Shaocong chuckled, then stated, "He's indeed my brother."
The square-faced officer's face became even uglier, the embarrassment palpable.
At that moment, Mo Shaocong walked further in, remarking, "It's quite lively in this interrogation room."
"Young Master Mo, this kid assaulted an officer!" the square-faced officer quickly said.
"Did I not see that?" Mo Shaocong shook his head, asking, "Any evidence?"
"We..." the square-faced officer gestured towards the other police officers.
"You're all in this together," Mo Shaocong said with a laugh. "Is there... any surveillance here?"
"No..." the square-faced officer shook his head.
"I have it here!" At that moment, Xiao Han took out his cell phone and handed it to Mo Shaocong.
Mo Shaocong looked at the phone, then turned and handed it to the frail man next to him, saying, "Lawyer Zhang, can you take a look at this and tell me what it means?"
Lawyer Zhang immediately opened the phone, watched the video, and then said, "This is a violent interrogation. The Central Government has issued multiple orders strictly prohibiting local police stations from conducting such interrogations on suspects; this is a violation of the spirit of the Central Government."
