Chapter 13: Second Life, Accepting the Mission, Gathering Glaze Lilies
"Liyue, Wangsheng Funeral Parlor... Hu Tao."
At this moment, Elliot, who had arrived in Liyue with Qiqi, was feeling a bit sentimental.
He wanted to visit Hu Tao, but seeing Qiqi beside him made him reconsider.
In his previous life, he had taught Hu Tao about maintaining the balance between yin and yang. If she saw someone like Qiqi—someone who had already died—she'd definitely insist on giving her a proper burial...
That wouldn't end well.
So instead, they went straight to Wanmin Restaurant.
"Coming right up! One plate of stir-fried meat slices! Here's your Mora meat, and for you—our special fried radish balls!"
Even before they entered, Xiangling's energetic voice could be heard from inside.
As the two of them pushed open the door, they immediately drew everyone's attention—Xiangling included.
"Welcome to Wanmin Restaurant! What would you like to eat?" she greeted them with a smile.
Seeing the crowded dining hall, Qiqi looked a bit nervous and clung to Elliot's sleeve, hiding behind him.
Elliot gently took her hand and gave it a soft squeeze to reassure her.
"Any recommendations?" he asked warmly.
"I just learned two new dishes—want to give them a try?" Xiangling offered right away.
"Sure."
"Please, come in."
"Could we get a quieter spot?"
"Of course, follow me."
Under Xiangling's lead, they were seated in a quiet corner with fewer people.
Even there, Qiqi still seemed uneasy, though just slightly.
Holding her hand gave her a strong sense of security.
A short while later, Xiangling brought over two plates. "Here you go—Hilichurl-style grilled fish and horsetail sticky rice with meat. Enjoy your meal!"
She was about to leave when Elliot added, "Could we also get a bottle of coconut milk?"
"Sure thing, one moment."
Not long after, a bottle of coconut milk was delivered to their table.
"Thank you," Elliot said politely.
"You're welcome," Xiangling replied before returning to the kitchen.
Since they had arrived right at noon, the place was still packed for lunch.
Parched from the road, Elliot poured himself a glass and quickly drank it, then poured one for Qiqi.
Qiqi stared curiously at the milky white drink, then glanced at Elliot.
She watched as he gulped it down in one go and exclaimed, "Refreshing!"
Seeing him like that, Qiqi mimicked his actions and took a sip.
Although the sweet coconut milk tasted the same as regular water to her, she still found it delicious.
Why? Because Elliot thought it was delicious—so in her mind, it had to be.
"Qiqi, want another glass?" Elliot smiled, lifting the bottle.
"Coconut milk... yummy... yes..." Qiqi said, holding out her cup with both hands.
He refilled it for her, then began eating.
Xiangling's cooking really was top-notch.
But Qiqi only took a few bites before giving up, instead clinging to the coconut milk like it was her lifeline.
Maybe she didn't like the bones—or maybe the taste didn't appeal to her.
After lunch, they didn't rush to leave. The afternoon sun was blazing, and Qiqi hated the heat, so they decided to rest a while.
"You two done eating? How was it?" Xiangling came over with a cheerful grin.
"Mm, it was delicious," Elliot replied with a soft smile.
"By the way, is this your first time in Liyue? I haven't seen you around before—did you come from Mondstadt?"
"Yes." Elliot lied without batting an eye.
Xiangling then turned her gaze to Qiqi, who instinctively edged closer to Elliot, clearly intimidated.
"What's with the hiding, little one? I'm not gonna turn you into skewers," Xiangling teased with a mischievous grin.
"Qiqi... not tasty..." Qiqi muttered, eyes wide with fear.
"Hahahaha! You're way too cute! Of course I wouldn't eat you," Xiangling laughed. She hadn't expected Qiqi to take her seriously.
"By the way, do you have any more coconut milk? I'd like to buy some in bulk—Qiqi really likes it," Elliot asked, getting to the point.
"We do. How much do you want?" Xiangling stopped teasing and responded seriously.
"How much would these Mora get us?"
He poured out all the Mora he'd taken from the bandits.
Xiangling counted the coins carefully and smiled. "This is just enough to cover your meal."
"I see..."
Though it wasn't much, the price of the meal seemed a bit steep—probably because they had tried new dishes.
"Would it be possible to pay later? I still need to buy a notebook. I promise I'll pay it back."
"A notebook?"
"Yes, Qiqi's a zombie. Her memory isn't great, so I want to get her a notebook to write down important things."
"Wait—Qiqi's a... zombie!?"
Just as expected, Xiangling was shocked.
While Qiqi's outfit was certainly strange, she'd never imagined zombies were real.
Sure, immortals and demons existed... but a resurrected zombie?
And apparently only one—Qiqi.
She stared at Qiqi in disbelief.
"If it's a notebook you need, we've got plenty of spares we use for menus. If you don't mind, you can take one."
She handed Elliot a notebook from the counter.
"Are you sure?" Elliot asked.
"Of course! We've got more than enough at Wanmin Restaurant. You're welcome to take as many as you need—on one condition."
"What condition?"
"I'm short on Glaze Lilies. If you two can help me gather some, I'll let you use as many notebooks as you want... and I'll even throw in two big crates of coconut milk."
"Deal!"
Elliot agreed immediately.
Compared to slowly earning Mora, this was a breeze.
Glaze Lilies were hard to find, sure—but for Qiqi's coconut milk, it was totally worth it.
"Alright, I'll be waiting for you to come back," Xiangling said.
With that, Elliot and Qiqi set off.
He handed her the notebook and said gently, "Qiqi, from now on, if anything important happens, write it down in here. That way, you won't forget."
"Important things... write them down... okay... Qiqi understands."
Qiqi nodded seriously, showing she got the idea.
But what they didn't know...
They weren't the only ones watching.
Somewhere nearby, a mysterious figure wearing a hexagonal hat was quietly following behind...
