Rise of the Rejected Deity from Chaos

Chapter 196: The Master of Kaeliyus—The Sword of Severance

The commander turned back to Seiya, leading him out of the office, while the assistant simply watched them go with questioning eyes—in disbelief that the commander was really going to have his meal together with Seiya.

Just when the assistant breathed a sigh of relief, thinking they had left, the commander came peeking through the door, causing the assistant to flinch.

"Don't forget to have this mess cleaned up," the commander said, his voice as low as a whisper, quiet and creepy.

He chuckled softly seeing his assistant's pale face before leaving.

Seiya and the commander arrived at the breakfast table. The commander took his place at the head, while Seiya settled into the nearest seat beside him.

As they awaited their meals, Seiya took the cutleries resting neatly on a napkin on the table, holding the fork in one hand and the knife in the other—impatiently waiting for their meals to be served.

Watching him, a small smile formed on the commander's lips, seeing Seiya's actions as one befitting of a child his age. His smile slowly broadened, seeing as Seiya could also act his age sometimes.

To clear off the awkward silence in the room, the commander struck up a conversation.

"I apologize for what happened earlier," he began softly, gazing at Seiya whose expression was hidden behind the blindfold. "You must've been angered, being accused of something you didn't do."

Seiya lifted his gaze from the table, turning to the commander. He saw no real reason for the commander to apologize. It wasn't the accusation that unsettled him, nor was he angered by it—it was simply that hunger had left him irritable.

"I didn't even ask for your own side of the story and jumped to conclusion with merely the words of my worker. That was unjust, and I apologize." The commander lowered his head while still sitting, bowing politely as an apology to Seiya.

He remained in that position, waiting for Seiya to speak. But a while went by, and Seiya didn't utter a word, until several moments later when he realized the commander wasn't going to lift his head if he didn't speak.

"I wasn't angered." Seiya's voice cut through the silence, causing the commander to slowly lift his head, evidently in disbelief.

He wasn't angered, but he almost killed all of them?

The commander gazed at Seiya with eyes of confusion, puzzled about what Seiya meant by not being angered. Then what had caused him to act so brutal and ruthless towards them if not anger?

"I was hungry," he added quietly.

The commander was speechless, simply staring at Seiya blankly—unable to process the boy's mentality.

It wasn't that he was angered but agitated because he was hungry?

And he would kill because of that?

"I-I see," the commander chuckled awkwardly, tense with beads of cold sweat.

"Then I better wait till the meal is served because I've got some questions for you," he added, forcing a big, wide smile.

"Mn."

The commander exhaled in relief at Seiya's response, happy that he was willing to be questioned in the least.

He had a lot of curious questions to be answered by him. First, regarding the village. He was also curious about Seiya's powers, his white gleaming eyes that he had seen only briefly in the office during the commotion, and also about his sensitive ears.

"I hope you got enough rest since your ears are very sensitive," the commander said, trying to indirectly find out whether Seiya indeed had sensitive ears, hence preventing him from sleeping properly.

However, Seiya knew where he was heading with his questions, so he didn't bother replying. His ears weren't all that sensitive as it were the heart pulsations preventing him from falling asleep. And he wasn't ready to tell this to the commander just yet.

Unbothered by his silence and disregard to his words, the commander continued. "I was a bit bothered when you said you hadn't been getting any sleep since coming here. Had I known your ears were that sensitive, I'd have had someone set up a barrier that blocked out every noise."

Again, Seiya knew the commander was merely talking to get something out of him. He knew full well that the commander himself was doubting whether the issue truly lay with his ears.

From the entrance, the sound of footsteps hit their ears, drawing their attention. The commander's assistant approached the table, smoothly guiding a food cart before him. With practiced precision and without so much as a glance at either of them, he laid out the meals and served them both.

After that, he bowed, rolling the cart aside to stand behind the commander as usual, but the commander passed him a dismissive gesture, asking him to leave them alone.

He was surprised by this, but didn't protest nor waste any time in leaving as demanded by the commander.

Seiya started digging into his food, focused and unbothered. Watching him eat, the commander kept silent, not touching his own food.

After a while, he started softly. "I apologize for wanting to do this during your meal, but this is urgent," he said. "Can I start the questions?"

Seiya responded with a light nod, his focus entirely on his food.

"Were you the one who saved the villagers," the commander blurted, going straight to the point. He was too curious to beat around the bush.

Unbothered by the question, Seiya continued eating, replying, "yes."

Though the commander had already considered it highly likely—based on what one of his boys had said—that Seiya was the one who had saved the village, the confirmation still caught him off guard, momentarily delaying his next question.

"Then, when you said you weren't the one who killed our Humanity Savior, were you speaking the truth?" He continued with his questions.

"Yes," Seiya replied again.

"Do you know who killed her?"

"Yes."

The commander's heart lurched, pounding slightly harder as he felt the heat rush up his system—thrilled to finally find out who the killer was.

"Would you mind if I asked who?"

Without delay, Seiya responded. "One of my men did."

The commander raised his brow, confused and speechless.

One of his men? Doesn't that mean he was in some way responsible?

"A demon?" The commander pressed on.

"Yes."

The commander swallowed hard, starting to sweat nervously as his thoughts drifted to the only demon he could think of.

"Is it a demon I know by any chance?" He asked, damp from nervousness.

"Yes, Kaeliyus," Seiya blurted flatly, sinking the commander's heart.

What was even more shocking to him aside from the fact that Kaeliyus was the one who killed their HS, was Seiya referring to Kaeliyus as one of his men, which makes him Kaeliyus' master?

How could a child be the master of Kaeliyus—a powerful demon that has people dying to own him?

Has the demon—a weapon of severance—finally found an owner? A child no less?

Unbelievable!
