Rise of the Rejected Deity from Chaos

Chapter 195: Finally, the Hero is Known [2]

Both the commander and his assistant were frozen numb on their spots, speechless at Beni's response.

"He is?!" The commander repeated, clearly in disbelief. Beni nodded once more, affirming the truth.

Then what about Im Seun?! The commander pondered, meeting eyes with his assistant who was equally puzzled.

Looking at the boy, he didn't seem like one to lie directly to the face of his superior. Considering how easily scared he gets, he just can't.

Is Im Seun then a fraud? One who has claimed the hero's identity looking to reap the rewards the association has to offer?

How did we even make such a mistake?

"Ugh!" the commander sighed, itching to run his hand through his hair in frustration but he had no available hand.

Observing the boy, still trembling faintly and damp with sweat, the commander let out another sigh, unwilling to press him any further.

Just then, the man who had left on the commander's orders to get a healer, returned with a woman—the healer.

Seeing the scene, and how badly hurt the commander and his assistant were, the lady was shook, her face tight with visible shock.

Keeping his cool, the commander turned to face the man who had brought in the healer.

"Take him to the infirmary and have him checked. Make sure he gets enough rest," he said, referring to Beni.

The man bowed once again, as did Beni before the both of them walked out. The commander turned his attention to the lady stricken with shock, clearly in disbelief of her own eyes.

It was the commander, after all, losing an arm; that too, in his own office. What could have possibly happened? Of course everyone would wonder.

"Please heal me, I'm afraid I've lost too much blood," the commander requested politely, a bit pale and sweaty from the blood that had not ceased to stop dripping from his stump.

The lady's eyes were a bit wide, shaken from the scene in front of her. Before she activated her healing ability, the commander pointed over to the other side of his table.

"My severed arm is over there, please get it."

She hastily walked over to the direction he pointed, unwilling to delay in carrying out the commander's orders even though she was still shaken.

Reaching the other side of the table where the commander's chair was placed, the woman was met with even more horror as her eyes took in the pool of blood on the floor.

And in the pool of blood rested the commander's severed arm, the stump rough like it had been ripped off rather than neatly severed with a weapon.

Even on the walls behind her were sprays of blood, and on the desk, a small puddle of blood. By deduction, she could already tell the awful event had taken place right there—that the commander's arm had been torn off right where she stood.

Slowly with hesitation, she crouched down, picking up the severed arm, and rising with it—her face a bit scrunched—clearly unsettled with the horrific sight. But she wasn't any new to this as sights like these have always been what she was welcomed with, belonging to the healing team.

However, no matter how much she has had to face sights like these, she couldn't get used to it or stomach it.

She walked back to the commander with the arm, placing it roughly against the stump, and holding it in place with one hand. With the other hand, she activated her ability, and a small, blue glowing bubble coated the commander's arm—precisely the torn area.

Moments later, the wound healed, re-attaching the hand back to its normal state. She proceeded to the other arm that was twisted and lolling at odd angles, used the same bubble healing ability and it returned back to its original shape.

The commander rolled and gently twisted his arms, swaying them to see if they were back in good shape. He smiled at the lady after confirming her job well done, thanking her politely.

The woman bowed, and walked over to the assistant who remained knelt on the floor. She crouched to her knees in front of him, healing his two broken arms.

"Thank you," he murmured, the exhaustion from it all still heavy in his voice.

The lady rose, awkwardly glancing here and there, clueless how to act or what to do next.

"You're free to leave now," the commander said and she bowed, hastily turning to leave, but the commander spoke again, halting her mid-step.

"And as always, whatever happens in my office, stays in my office," he reminded and she nodded, exiting the office.

As soon as she left, the commander's assistant turned to him, still a bit shaken.

"I'll have the operating team cancel the ID registration right away," he said, attempting to leave. But the commander's question halted him.

"Why?" The commander asked, the air around him calm and even.

The assistant turned to face the commander with disbelief, confused whether the commander clearly saw what exactly happened.

"What do you mean why? He's clearly a dangerous person! We can't afford to have him under your name," he chided.

"I've always been against adopting him ever since that demon brought him here. Did you see how he ripped off your arm? With his bare arms, and without batting an eye!" The assistant continued, clearly unsettled and furious.

"After seeing that, I'm now fully convinced that he was sent here to kill you! That demon really wants you dead! The sooner we take action against him, the better and safer for all of us."

The commander simply sighed, evidently calm to the situation which bothered the assistant.

"He was the one who saved the villagers though," the commander said softly. "Clearly, he's not all evil."

Hearing this, the assistant's face tightened with deeper disbelief, in shock at the commander.

"You believe what Beni said? You know how easily intimidated that boy is. He was clearly threatened to say that. We already have the real hero, Im Seun," the assistant spat.

Just then, the door to the office was pushed open, and as Seiya walked in, the assistant's breath hitched—his legs involuntarily taking retreating steps.

Did he hear? His heart pounded hard and heavy.

Seiya's gaze landed straight at him, and his heart lurched, further retreating.

After freshening up, he came back to ask for his meal. Although he heard them, he couldn't be bothered with such trivial matters.

Still calm even with Seiya present, the commander strode calmly to his assistant.

"There's an easier way to find out the true hero," he whispered into his ears, then turned over to Seiya.

"Let's eat at the table, I'll join you," he said, getting ready to walk out with Seiya.

To his assistant, he ordered. "Get the meal."
