Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse

Chapter 196: Don't Regret Your Decision

Juan Ke wasted no time when he got the stationery and immediately drafted a divorce agreement.

He got the house and his wife could take anything else she deemed valuable, but the woman said there was nothing there for her to take. Thus, she asked him to state that she was taking nothing and had nothing to do with him from them henceforth.

Juan Ke did exactly that and within a couple minutes, a divorce agreement was ready. He signed his part and stamped it with his fingerprint and had his wife do the same.

There were two copies and after both were signed and stamped with the Lu family as witnesses, the marriage of six years came to an end.

Juan Ke folded his copy of the divorce agreement and put it away.

"You and I are done from now on. Your life and death has nothing to do with me." Juan Ke said as he turned to thank the Lu family members who were still being held at gunpoint.

"Thank you for your help and agreeing to be my witnesses."

"You deserve better. Don't stress over such an ungrateful woman." Li Yunjia said to Juan Ke in good nature. She thought he was a nice young man and would do better in the future.

"Who wants to have anything to do with you? From now on, we are strangers. Also, you are thanking them yet they can't even help themselves. You are just a loser like I said, associating yourself with more losers." The wife mocked.

"Hand over all your supplies and call over that daughter-in-law of yours to serve us brothers. Maybe if we are happy, we will leave your family alive and give you a packet of noodles." Boss Wang said proudly.

He really thought that having a couple guns made him invincible. How naive! Also, by saying such words, which Lu Tao was sure his brother had heard was practically signing a death warrant.

"You really want to suffer so much?" Li Yunjia asked without a shred of panic on her face.

Unfortunately, apart from Juan Ke who wasn't blinded by greed, no one else noticed that although the auntie who opened the door had panicked initially when a gun was pointed to her head and she was shoved, she had calmed down already and the others didn't seem afraid at all.

If they had been careful and observant and not be so conceited, then they would have realized that this family wasn't simple.

However, Juan Ke had no intention of warning them. He had already cut all ties with his wife and couldn't care less even if she died in front of him.

"Cut the crap, call her over and show my men where the supplies are. We are taking everything today. If you dare to resist, then my gun has no eyes and a bullet might greet your brain." Boss Wang barked in a loud voice.

"Auntie, you see what sister-in-law meant? People have lost their humanity. Just for some food, they will not hesitate to kill, imagine if we had something more important? These people would have slaughtered us like pigs a long time ago. They wouldn't waste time talking to us. And they are neighbors.

You still think the world is the same as before?" Lu Tao asked his aunt who was already drowning in regret and was close to tears.

If anything happened to her family because of her misplaced compassion, she would never forgive herself even if she died.

She looked on as other neighbors and even people from neighboring buildings crowded around their door but apart from one girl around fourteen years old whom she heard people say both her parents had turned into zombies and died, who spoke for them, there were only two other men who tried to convince the gang not to go overboard and hurt others because there was retribution.

The results of the three of them speaking up for them was that they were beaten to the ground until they couldn't get up.

Their families tried to beg for mercy for the two men and even thought the girl was pitiful since she had been left alone.

They begged for mercy for her but were instead told to provide a bunch of supplies if they wanted to redeem their loved ones alive.

The families could do nothing but go back to their houses to get the supplies. However, they were morally upright and didn't blame the Lu family for their misfortune. Instead, they pitied them even more. It was just that they didn't dare to speak now.

Auntie Li watched all this and the other people who thought their family deserved to be robbed or killed because they had many supplies and didn't share with them.

She could not believe that people would have such twisted logic.

She suddenly lost all her strength and fell to the floor. Her husband moved forward without caring about the gun pointed at him and held his wife in his arms.

"If anything happens to my wife, you will all be buried with her." Uncle Li for the first time revealed a side of him that nobody knew existed.

He was so fierce and sharp as an unsheathed sword. Even Lu Tao was shocked. It was at that moment that he realized that his uncle might not be as simple as a restaurant owner and chef.

"What can you do even if she died here? Say another word and I will shoot her in the head." A follower of Boss Wang shouted with his gun pointing closer to auntie Li.

"Is that so?" A deep voice came from behind the crowd.

Everyone turned around to see who that was and were surprised to see Lu Zhen holding his wife's hand standing at the back of the crowd.

Nobody knew when they had come out of their apartment and how long they had been standing there.

The crowd gave way and the two walked into the other apartment together.
