Chapter 174: Appreciating His Thoughtfulness
There wasn't a single zombie in the amusement park, but how was that possible? Someone must have cleared the zombies beforehand, cleaned the park, and placed the ice cream and snacks there.
And who else would go to such and extend to make sure that she enjoyed today's date? It was her husband of course.
That was one of the reasons that when she realized her feelings, she chose to come clean, and she was glad she did.
"Thanks, Hubby. I enjoyed our date very much. Thanks for the effort." Leng Pan felt that it was only right for her to acknowledge the effort her husband had put in preparing for the date.
"I enjoyed it very much as well. I am glad we did this today." Lu Zhen replied, he too was feeling better than he had in a long time.
In fact, anyone who saw them could tell that the two were in love with each other.
As they held hands and walked to their car, the two felt as if they could face anything without hesitation because they had each other.
Back in the apartment, Li Yunjia was starting to worry about her son and daughter-in-law. They had never stayed out so late since the apocalypse began.
She was wondering whether they had met with an accident. Even assistant Yao, who had gone out with his mother later than them, had already come back.
Just as Li Yunjia was debating whether to go out and look for them, Lu Tao came out of his bedroom and stopped her.
"Mom, my brother and sister-in-law will be fine. If you go out now, you will only burden them to go looking for you as soon as they come back.
I heard from assistant Yao that they went on a date. You can't expect them to come back at the same time they usually do when looking for supplies or training." Lu Tao said as he sat down beside his mother.
"They went on a date?" This surprised Li Yunjia and the other elders in the house.
"Yeah, assistant Yao went to help my brother prepare this morning." Lu Tao replied as a matter of fact.
He didn't seem to see anything wrong with his brother and sister-in-law going on a date in the apocalypse.
"Where did they go on the date? There are no restaurants or movie theaters anymore. Did they go to get served by zombies or ghosts?" Uncle Li, who for once was not in the kitchen experimenting on a new dish, asked jokingly.
"They must have had their own plans. We shouldn't interfere. My brother never does something he is not confident about. So, you should stop worrying so much.
Just as Lu Tao reassured his mother, there was the sound of someone ringing the bell at the door.
Auntie Li stood up to go to the door and open it.
"They must be back. It's good that they are here." She said, but before her hand could touch the door handle, it was stopped by another bigger hand.
"Have you forgotten this was Lu Zhen's apartment to begin with? He knows the password to the door. Why would he ring the bell if he was back? He could just key in the password and enter." Uncle Li was the one who had stopped his wife from making a mistake.
Only then did Auntie Li come back to her senses. She had been so worried that she forgot about that completely.
"Aah…sorry about that. I am just too worried about them as well." Auntie Li who had been feigning composure confessed.
"You women should really worry less. Don't know about Lu Zhen's abilities? Even Leng Pan was like a general when she fought. How many people do you think have the ability to hurt those two?
Don't you remember what happened when we went to collect supplies together? Once Panpan uses that mist she creates to cover them, nothing can get close to them.
She can even cover cars, why are you worried about her covering one person?
Stop worrying unnecessarily. You will make mistakes like opening the door to strangers without checking and then bring a disaster." Li Han reprimanded his wife and sister.
"Alright, sorry about that. Wasn't I just too worried? By the way, Little Tao, who is ringing the bell?" Lu Tao was remembered finally and his ability to see through walls was appreciated for once.
He looked at the door and activated his supervision but was surprised to see who was at the door. She wondered how and why she was there.
Seeing that he was not saying anything, uncle Li urged him to reveal the identity of the visitor.
"It's that scheming girl who pretends to be my sister-in-law's friend while eying my brother." Lu Tao said with a sulky tone.
He had never liked Bai Yinyin. He thought she was scheming and manipulative. She pretended to be Leng Pan's friend just to gain benefits from her identity as a rich heiress and also use her to get close to Lu Zhen.
It was only Leng Pan who had been too blind to see that before. She treated her sincerely like a friend but she was just a tool to Bai Yinyin.
"What is that rotten woman doing here? My daughter-in-law finally agreed to marry my son and they are happy and that woman shows up now?" Li Yunjia was seething with rage when she remembered the many days her son would stay home looking like a walking dead or numb himself with work so as not to think about the hurtful attitude of Leng Pan.
Now that the two were together and happy, she didn't want anything ruining that.
"Open the door, I want to see what that woman is up to." Li Yunjia said as she put away the clothes she was sewing and got up to head to the door.
"You are not going to beat her up, are you, Mom?" Lu Tao asked when he saw how aggressive his mother looked.
