Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse

Chapter 172: Leng Pan's Return

Looking at his wife who was clutching her head and appeared to be in unbearable pain, he wanted to take her away or transfer the pain to him. But he didn't dare to move because he didn't know what effect that would have on her.

He could only hold her in his arms and wait.

As the memories settled and the pain left. Leng Pan realized that she was in Lu Zhen's arms and only then did she realise that she must have scared him.

She took a deep breath and raised her head.

"Hubby, I am fine now." Leng Pan said to her husband who then unwrapped his arms around her and looked her up and down as if to make sure she was telling the truth before sighing in relief.

"I shouldn't have told you anything. If I had known it would hurt you, I wouldn't have said a word." Lu Zhen said with regret on his face.

"No,thanks for telling me. I just remembered too many things at the same time, which was the reason for the headache.

You did the right thing telling me, otherwise I would have continued to believe that I am someone I am not." Leng Pan was truly thankful to Lu Zhen for that piece of information.

It had helped her realize who she really was. Even though it had raised a lot of questions, she was happy about it. At least now she didn't have to feel guilty about taking over someone else's body and life.

This was her body and her life to begin with. It was the other party who had taken over everything.

"I remembered the incident you described. When that teenage boy tried to touch me, I pulled a pocket knife I always carried with me and stabbed his palm.

That was why the others kept quiet because they were shocked, and the boy who had been stabbed screamed from the pain." Leng Pan explained to her husband. Finishing the story he was telling about the first time he saw her.

Lu Zhen was happy to hear that. He could confirm that this was indeed the Leng Pan he had fallen in love with.

"Yes, but even after stabbing someone, the girl didn't panic and said something to the teenagers that made them run away while pulling the injured one." Lu Zhen finished the story.

"Mmm…I told them I will stab or cut anyone who dared to come close to me or the boy on the ground." Leng Pan explained the reason for how the three boys reacted.

"Was that boy your friend?" Lu Zhen asked.

"Before that day, he wasn't. I just came across the three of them ganging on him and beating him up and went to help him. But he became my friend after that.

However, I don't know what happened later? I don't have any memories of him after somehow I disappeared." Leng Pan had regret written all over her face.

It was obvious that she cherished that friendship a lot. But she didn't know what had happened when the other Leng Pan took over her body.

She went to befriend parasites like Bai Yinyin and probably drove away her friends.

"Don't worry, we will find him. Even though it might not be as easy as before to find someone, we will find a way." Lu Zhen comforted her while holding her close to his chest.

"I know. I just hope he is fine." Leng Pan lamented with a sigh. She was hoping that if the other Leng Pan did something bad to him, her friend would recognize that it wasn't her.

"So, what you were saying was that you realized that the previous Leng Pan wasn't me but you also found out immediately when I came back?" Leng Pan was confused about this now.

"Yes. When you love someone as much as I love you, something like that can't hide from you.

I noticed immediately the first time we met and the other party wasn't you. At first I thought that someone had switched the two of you but later on, I noticed the small mark on your ear, and I realized that it was your body, just that the core had changed.

I didn't know what had happened and I was afraid of alerting the person occupying your body for fear that they might hurt you.

So, I kept my distance emotionally and physically, but made sure that I was always close enough to monitor her movements.

As long as she didn't do anything to hurt or discredit you, I wouldn't interfere.

It wasn't until that day you invited me to your house and asked me to get you some supplies that I realized that the imposter had left and you had returned.

However, you didn't seem to be aware of it so I kept quiet about it. It's also why I didn't hesitate when you suggested getting married.

After all, I was marrying the woman I had always loved. So, I had no problem with that." Lu Zhen narrated his suspicions and how he had handled everything up to the point Leng Pan reappeared.

At that moment, Leng Pan was glad she had plucked the courage to talk to Lu Zhen about her fears and thoughts.

Otherwise, she would have gone on believing that she was an imposter stealing someone else's life, not knowing that it was someone else who had stolen her body and life.

She felt as if a huge load had been lifted from her shoulders and she felt light.

Lu Zhen felt the woman in his arms relax and found it funny that she had actually felt guilty about their relationship.

However, this also reassured him that she had genuine feelings for him and was afraid of losing him just as he was of losing her.

He was glad they came on this date and had this conversation. It had not only cleared the air and brought them closer, but had also helped his wife regain her real memories.

This was a blessing in disguise.
