Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse

Chapter 171: The Truth About Leng Pan's Transmigration

Leng Pan was seriously debating whether to ask about her thoughts or not. She feared that addressing the elephant in the room would bring disaster and she might end up losing her husband.

But keeping it within will start to eat at her slowly. She hadn't felt burdened before, but now that she understood her own feelings, she became fearful.

Now she understood how Lu Zhen felt when he had to tiptoe around their relationship. He cared too much about her and was scared of doing something to offend her that might lead to losing her.

But despite her fear, Leng Pan knew that if she didn't come clean, she would always feel guilty like a thief.

Moreover, she was a novel lover and had read too many stories about people going from loving each other to death to separating for years because they refused to communicate and caused misunderstandings.

After the truth is revealed and they realize the reason for their misunderstandings, they are regretful about missing out on each other for years just to keep their ego intact.

She was not that foolish. Even though she knew that her confession might lead to disaster, she was ready to face the consequences.

"I want to talk to you about something." Leng Pan said very seriously, which caused Lu Zhen to panic a little.

He didn't like it when his wife looked like she was about to ask for a divorce. He could not imagine his life without her.

Thus, Lu Zhen was tempted to refuse that conversation, but he loved his wife too much to disappoint her.

Therefore, despite his fears, he still agreed to talk.

When the two sat in the couple seat on the ferris wheel, Leng Pan took a deep breath as if preparing for battle.

If she knew about Lu Zhen's thoughts then she wouldn't be so nervous.

"You should have noticed that I changed a lot about a week before the apocalypse, right?" Leng Pan didn't know how to start, so she picked a random sentence that came to mind and spilled it.

"Yes. Is there a problem?" Lu Zhen replied immediately as he turned to look at the woman beside him who had her eyes trailed in the distance as if she refused to look at him.

Lu Zhen felt his heart skip a beat. She wasn't going to break off everything with him, right?

"You are so smart, you must have already realized that I didn't change because I was reborn, right?" Leng Pan asked another question.

Lu Zhen became a little confused about where the conversation was leading, but he hummed in agreement.

Of course he had already realized that, but he kept quiet because he didn't care about such trivials. The Leng Pan in front of him was the one he married and gave his whole being to, so what good would asking questions do for him?

"So, you know that I am not the original Leng Pan. Am I right?" Leng Pan asked again.

Lu Zhen thought for a long time before replying.

"You are the Leng Pan I fell in love with at first sight." He finally replied.

Hearing this, Leng Pan turned her head around to look at her husband.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"Do you know the first time I saw you? You were eighteen years old at the time. I had just taken over the company and was on my way to a meeting when I passed by a slightly remote road to avoid traffic and saw a young girl confronting three teenage boys.

There was another boy lying on the ground behind her. It looked like she was standing there, confronting the three boys to protect the one on the ground.

I was in the car so I couldn't hear their conversation, but one of the boys said something that made the others laugh.

He also stretched his hand in an attempt to touch the girl's face, but all of a sudden, the laughter died, and soon it was followed by a loud scream.

Do you know what happened?" Lu Zhen narrated their first encounter, but Leng Pan didn't have such a memory.

Just as she was about to say that she didn't know because she didn't remember as that was not her, she felt a splitting headache assault her.

She was in so much pain that she grabbed her head and leaned forward, hoping to reduce the headache.

It was at that moment that some long forgotten memories came rushing back into her mind. That scene Lu Zhen described appeared as clear as day in her mind. She also remembered other things she hadn't remembered before.

Since she transmigrated, she had not thought much about her parents, or their death since she believed that they were the original Leng Pan's parents. But at that moment, she had a clear picture of how her parents looked, how they had pampered her like a princess; she remembered things they did together like family outings and movie nights.

Things she didn't have in the memories she inherited from the Leng Pan occupying this body before.

As the memories came flooding back, she came to a painful realization. She was the original Leng Pan from the beginning, but the Leng Pan who became friends with Bai Yinyin and kept rejecting Lu Zhen was definitely not her.

That was to say, at some point after she turned eighteen, something had happened that caused her to leave her own body and appear in what she believed to be the real world, then another soul or whatever entity took over her body.

It was only after she had transmigrated that she took back her body. Then the question was, how did she leave her body and why? Who was the person occupying her body and what was their purpose? Also, where did that person go after returning her body to her?

While Leng Pan was processing these memories, Lu Zhen was panicking.
