Reverend Insanity: The Goody Two-Shoes System

Chapter 121: Lightning Lycan King: Part Seven

Fang Yuan did not hesitate to use the Yellow Golden Relic Gu. He couldn't afford to hold back anymore, not in this kind of fight.

"Fang Yuan," the clan head said to him. "There is an opening in the fighting near the Thunder Crown Wolf. We should go take care of it."

Fang Yuan nodded and both of them used movement gu worms to head towards the Thunder Crown Wolf.

"What was that earlier?"

"My injuries just healed!"

"I had some kind of weird armor on me!"

"It was like I couldn't be hurt! I felt like I was invincible for a few seconds!"

"Have the gods sent a miracle to save us?"

"It had to be, what else could have saved us?"

"I don't know of any gu worm that can do such a thing..."

"If only they had acted earlier, my younger sister might still be alive then..."

Fang Yuan continued to move, aware of the talk going around the village. It seemed that Charity Gu left no traces of its action, but that was to be expected. Charity was best if it was done in private, away from prying eyes. People who flaunted giving money and the like to the poor did it for their own reputation, not for genuine aide.

Then again, perhaps there was a way to deduce when Charity Gu was being used. After all, no gu worm was invincible.

Fang Yuan continued to replenish his primeval essence with primeval stones even as they moved. Now that his essence had essentially doubled, this was something that was actually possible. There was a reason that even a minor realm could greatly affect the outcome of battle at this level.

The Thunder Crown Wolf howled in defiance. Its wound that Fang Yuan had dealt earlier had almost completely healed, either by its own healing gu worm or from one of its minions.

The clan head moved the left. He had a movement gu worm that was similar to Ten Steps Fragrant Grass Gu, the Fifty Steps Fragrant Grass Gu which allowed him to strike out at the beast from its blind spot.

Fang Yuan took advantage of this opportunity to soar into the sky. Its gaze turned towards Fang Yuan, hatred etched into its eyes as it glared at the person who had dealt it such a blow earlier. Not only that, but naturally it would be more concerned with the flying enemy before it.

A frosty moonblade struck its hindquarters from the clan head, immobilizing it to some extent. This was the side effect of the Tundra Moon Gu, an upgraded version of Frost Moon Gu.

The Thunder Crown Wolf howled, only to take another blow from Fang Yuan. When it looked like it was going for the clan head, he backed away with the help of Fifty Steps Fragrant Grass Gu.

A gu worm on its back jumped up and it let out another soundwave, though Fang Yuan swerved out of its way to chop its right foreleg off.

Whatever defensive gu worm that it had seemed to have its effect weakened so that it could not longer be used. Two moonblades to its neck decapitated it.

"Rank 4 Middle Stage..." the clan head muttered, noticing Fang Yuan's increasingly powerful moonblades and the aura of the more condense primeval essence he was using. "Fang Yuan, you went up a cultivation rank in the middle of battle...?"

Fang Yuan was prepared to bluff his way out of this situation using only his strength, but to his surprise, the clan head had a strange look of... pity on his face. Like he was visiting a close friend who had a terrible illness. "Fang Yuan... I understand why you might've thought that you needed to keep this hidden. However... we can still find a solution... whatever, we will talk after this fight is over."

Fang Yuan was as confused as ever. He wished he had some kind of Wisdom Path gu worm or the like with him, or something that could give him the slightest bit of inspiration regarding what the clan head thought was going on.

Some distance away, the Lightning Lycan King howled. It had noticed the loss of the Thunder Crown Wolf, and was not going for an all-out offense to see if it could breach through the walls of the village in one go.

Fang Yuan began replenishing his primeval essence. The ones manning the wall would just need to hold for now.

Once he was done, he leapt up to the sky, spreading his wings and going towards the Lightning Lycan King. It had noticed Fang Yuan, and let out a bolt of lightning which passed harmlessly over his head. Despite having a direct line of sight to target, Fang Yuan was incredibly difficult to hit.

It yelped out, hopping back on its hind legs as Fang Yuan came within range to launch a moonblade at it.

The next few moments of the fight involved Fang Yuan flitting around its head like a mosquito, with the Lightning Lycan King being able to do nothing to counter. At least, nothing that was actually able to strike Fang Yuan.

By this point, the clan head had also managed to catch up, and when it saw two enemies, the Lightning Lycan King decided to cut its losses and retreat.

It howled, demanding its subordinates for a wall of flesh and bone around it, but it was too late by this point. The elders had also joined in, paving a way for the clan head. Perhaps it could have gotten away using a movement-type gu worm, but unfortunately for it, Fang Yuan was hot on its tail.

When two moonblades crashed into its back, it howled, and then a dark object emerged from its mouth.

Wolf Smoke Gu!

Once this collided with the ground, the surrounding area in the distance of one li was covered in smoke entirely. It was so dense that one couldn't see one's hand in front of one's face. Granted, the Lightning Lycan King's vision was likely also obstructed to some extent, but it had resorted to this desperate ploy in order to save its life. It had hoped that in the resulting chaos it might be able to escape.

Unfortunately, it would not work against Fang Yuan. His Pit Viper Gu made the Lightning Lycan King stand out even among the black clouds.

It had clearly not been expecting to be hit by three moonblades in quick succession, one of which was nearly successful in bisecting it. Its two halves were connected simply by a short string of intestines- it was on its last legs.

The elders and the clan head were scrambling. Without a doubt they had their own investigative methods, though nothing that could deal with the fog in its entirety. Nor did they seem confident enough in attacking without hitting Fang Yuan in the meantime, and so, no help would be coming from their end for now.

Not that Fang Yuan intended to rely upon them in the first place.

Fang Yuan did not bother with primeval essence for the last blow. He had had an incredible increase in strength, and used it to tear the remains of the Lightning Lycan King in half.

Mission successful!

Lightning Lycan King killed.
