Chapter 160: One vs Many

Concentrating his focus, suddenly an intense aura seemed to surround him as if separating him from the real world.

With one deep breath, Rinnegan's evolved eyes lit up even brighter, radiating an ancient power that seemed to dominate time and space.

Instantly, the world around him lost color. Everything turned black and white, like a slow-moving monochrome movie sheet.

The sounds of battle and human screams faded away, replaced by El's heartbeat which could now be heard clearly in the silence.

With the eyes of true insight activated at the same time as the Demon Slayer Mark, El's perception expanded drastically.

Everything around him felt more real, every small movement became slower, every detail seemed to be revealed by the universe.

In fact, El can feel the flow of time as if it could be touched, slowing it down or speeding it up if he so desired.

His vision became translucent due to being activated in conjunction with Mark like Byakugan, allowing El to see through any object.

Even now, he could see tiny particles floating in the air, bobbing like dust that was clearly visible in the sunlight.

Every gust of wind moved the particles, adding a new dimension to his world that now had no secrets.

Although the Rinnegan did not give him 360-degree vision, that deficiency was made up for by his keen sense of smell.

El was able to sense faint scents coming from even unseen directions. The scent of blood, death, and dangerous chemical odors guided him like a compass in a battlefield.

Calmly, El holding Metsu's sword which now felt lighter in his hand. With this combination of power, he was no longer just a warrior, he was an absolute observer capable of changing the course of war.

One second again, El let out another long breath slowly, his body standing firmly on the edge of the cliff filled with the scent of blood and death.

His calm yet sharp eyes were fixed on the spot in front of him, where the enemies were.

El's right hand grasped Metsu's sword tightly, while his left hand was open, as if sensing the energy around his.

Slowly, El lowered his body slightly, his right foot sliding back, firmly planted on the ground. His left leg came forward, bending lightly, giving his body perfect balance.

The stance was full of caution and latent power, like a dragon preparing to unleash its fury.

El pointed Metsu forward at an oblique angle, the tip of the sword seeming to challenge the air before him.

The Rinnegan aura in his eyes shone even more, yet displayed the calmness of a warrior completely at one with his sword.

Shwoosh!

Boom!

In an instant, El darted off the cliff onto the battlefield. A single stomp of his foot shattered the foothold; the cliff cracked and collapsed, leaving a trail of destruction.

His speed was so incredible that space seemed to distort, and within seconds, El appeared right in front of a giant spider Gastrea the size of a one-story house.

Behind the Gastrea, a young Promoter lay on the ground, with his badly injured Initiator in the process of regenerating.

The Gastrea, which was a Stage 1 spider model, opened its huge mouth, preparing to devour them.

Shing!

However, in a split second, Metsu darted out like a shadow in the wind. The sword's gleam radiated cold, followed by the air being burned instantly.

Splash!

The Gastrea's body split open, like butter cut by a hot knife, before it collapsed without a fight.

Without a word, El disappeared again, leaving the Promoter and Initiator speechless in shock.

"What just happened?" asked the young Promoter, his voice trembling. "Why did the Gastrea suddenly disintegrate?"

"Shidou-san," said the little girl beside him in an urgent tone. "Forget about that for now. We must retreat immediately. It seems Aldebaran is cooperating with the Pleiades."

"Right, Aoki," Shidou replied, immediately picking up his Initiator and moving away. "Let's find a safe place to recover."

They seized the opportunity to escape before the Pleiades fired mercury again. This decision was not an act of cowardice, but rather a strategic move to reorganize the plan.

The situation on the battlefield had changed with unexpected factors beyond Commander Gado Nagamasa's prediction.

Moreover, they knew that dying in vain would only make things worse.

On the other hand, El continued to move on the battlefield with incredible speed, as if teleporting from one point to another.

Shing! Shing! Shing!

Each of Metsu's swings became a deadly flash, killing any Gastrea that got in his way while giving the survivors a chance to retreat.

Without a word, El created an opening for them, allowing them to escape the chaotic battlefield.

Luckily, their survival instincts forced them to quickly retreat and devise a new strategy. That way, El didn't have to waste time giving directions.

Although El helped many people in urgent situations. Such as: almost being eaten by Gastrea or killed, not all of them could be saved.

After all, El cannot use a cloning jutsu to multiply herself and be present in many places at once.

El moved not out of a heroic spirit, but out of duty and responsibility.

She only does what needs to be done, with full focus on the main goal. Being a hero to everyone is not her path.

...

Before long, people were slowly retreating from the battlefield. One of El's plans had finally gone as expected.

However, not all of them managed to survive. There were still many who fell on the battlefield eaten alive by Gastrea, or more tragically, turned into Gastrea itself, so El killed it.

El stopped in the middle of the blood-soaked ground, dust floating in the air.

Human corpses, armored vehicles and even Gastrea were scattered around him like leaves, creating a gloomy scene.

It was already dark, a horde of Gastrea stage 2 and below was successfully slaughtered by El.

However, El's breathing sounded heavy and labored, his body felt exhausted from the non-stop movement that drained his stamina.

Killing Gastrea and protecting those who could be saved was not easy. If it was a normal person, it would be impossible to fight more than 100 stage 1 and 2 Gastrea, but El was a level 5 Beyonder Authority near the peak.

For El, killing over 100 stage 1 Gastrea was not difficult, no different from killing over 100 level 2 Infected, or over a hundred Lower Moon Demons.

With total breathing concentration, and a VIT attribute value of 85 Points, plus the effects of Skills, Titles and Items that restored his Stamina slowly, but surely, this feat could be achieved even though El was very exhausted afterwards.

"At least they've managed to retreat to the back line," El muttered between his heavy breaths. "But... using this move still makes me tired."

She took a few deep breaths to stabilize himself. A tinge of irony showed on his face as he talked to himself. "After all, I'm not Tanjiro... let alone Yoriichi Tsugikuni who must have gotten a crazy buff from their world system."

What he had just done was not Nichiun no Ryū Kaburimai, his signature move that combined a blistering attack with Gen'nichi Kō, which was capable of distorting space with its speed.

The move El used this time was Jū San no Kata, an advanced technique of Sun Breathing.

By combining eleven solar breathing styles in a series of repeated strikes, the technique constantly increases in damage and speed with each repetition.

However, while the technique was highly effective, its use had its limits. El's body, which had not yet reached a perfect state, felt the extreme impact of this all-consuming move.

However, this achievement is commendable. Given the vastness of the battlefield, El was able to move around while defending Jū San no Kata without experiencing the extreme fatigue he had felt when using it against the three Upper Moons in Infinity Castle.

This technique, while amazing, is very demanding on stamina and focus. When she faced the Upper Moon, his body almost collapsed under the pressure of this technique even in a short period of use.

However, El was now able to control it better, although fatigue still weighed heavily on her body.

This proved that El's strength and endurance had improved a lot, although there was still a long way to go to perfect it.

"If I manage to perfect this technique, I will challenge Yoriichi once again," El said in a cold, yet determined tone.
