Chapter 612: Special Trainee
Once everyone realized that the paralyzing syringe was capable of shutting down the immunity of a person, they all became stunned and stupefied.
In the current era, almost everyone has their immunity system at the highest protection mark. After all, there were too many harmful substances in space, followed by mutated monsters capable of destroying a human's internal system in a split second.
Contrary to their shock though, Xu Feng had to clarify something for them.
"The paralyze syringe is still just a prototype, so the aggressive Trainee immune system will return in 1 minute. The effect only lasts for approximately 2 minutes, but if they have a stronger resistance or if the full liquid wasn't injected, then the duration might be minimized."
Sure enough, the aggressive Traine's body started to react and began recovering. His limbs, which seemed stiff, had turned normal and were showing signs of him regaining the muscles.
"Put him in anesthesia and have him be experimented on. I want to see the aftermath of the effect." Harvey instructed coolly.
The aggressive Trainee who heard the words, wanted to squirm away, only to be knocked out by Harvey's assistant and brought away.
Shortly after, the remaining 6 Trainees became pale, feeling like they were trapped in a tiger den with nowhere to escape.
As for trying to pull a similar stunt as the aggressive Trainee had?
What a joke was that?
Death was an easier path than being an experimental lab rat.
"Don't act shocked by the harsh treatment. The world is no longer the same, and when you signed and agreed to become a Trainee. I'm sure you have been warned severely and repeatedly that you can die at any second." Harvey's voice was cold as he glared at them.
"But you're lucky this time. My mood has been alleviated by a special Trainee this time, so I'll retract my words from earlier. The severe warnings you received from earlier remain the same and if you don't want to end up being a waste, then work hard to get rid of the warning."
After speaking his piece, Harvey snapped his fingers and one of his assistant's behind stepped forward and handed over a medal.
As Harvey grabbed the medal, he proceeded to throw it toward Xu Feng.
"They said a genius is often lunatic and courageous. They aren't wrong. That medal is my authorization for your clearance to reach level 5, just enough to retrieve those two herbs." Harvey smirked and signaled for Aera to continue the rest.
Having witnessed a new type of weapon, Harvey was too satisfied to interact with the other Trainees. His point had been made clear, so there was no longer a need for him to remain here.
With Aera effectively taking over the "supervisor" role, she began assigning tasks to the Trainees.
"Within the file that has just been sent to you. They are your patient. Their job in the Battleship Lux is temporarily on pause due to their medical condition. Your job is to help them make a quick recovery and have them return to their post." Aera announced.
As the Trainees quickly received their own patient, they began searching for their symptoms and possible treatment.
However, only Xu Feng remained idle because nothing was sent to him. It was more safe to say that Aera purposely refrained from giving him one.
Naturally, he didn't believe for a second that Aera was trying some power play to render him useless.
"Trainee Michael." Aera suddenly called out. Find your next adventure on My Virtual Library Empire
"Yes, Assistant Supervisor Aera." Xu Feng responded, changing her form of address from Coordinator to Supervisor.
Although it wasn't visible on her face, Aera was indeed pleased that Xu Feng was quick on his feet.
"Since Supervisor Harvey had given you a medal, allowing your clearance level to be 5. It would be unfair to give you a patient and compete with your fellow Trainees." She explained calmly.
All Trainee's clearance levels were only 1, meaning their resources and information were heavily restricted and limited. Therefore, to allow someone who had a level 5 clearance to compete with level 1 clearance was indeed a bit too much to even call it a competition.
Nodding, Xu Feng accepted the explanation without a fuss. "I'm sure you must have something else planned for me then."
A cold smirk appeared on Aera's face. "Indeed, you're outspoken and clearly don't fear your superiors. You are a Special Trainee, and being special means you have to do the above and beyond. I'll let you treat an Engineer crewmate who had a clearance level of 6. His condition is quite abnormal, but I believe you can give me a report along with possible treatment solutions within a week."
'An Engineer of Battleship Lux?' Xu Feng's mind raced with the possibility that he had finally achieved some clues to proceed with the scenario.
In fact, he had a premonition that he skipped quite a lot of unnecessary fillers that would lead him to be the one to treat the Engineer.
"I'll gladly accept the task with honor." Xu Feng replied.
A second later, his watch made a beep, indicating that all relevant files were sent to him.
"Ensure your medal is worn at all times. To access the place required to treat your patient, that medal of yours is the pass. If you were to lose it or had it stolen, then…" Aera didn't complete her words before she dismissed everyone and left the infirmary.
However, it was without a doubt that she meant he was doomed if the medal were to be found at someone or someplace else.
Now that all upper-management level personnel were gone, Xu Feng could instantly feel the gazes of the many Trainees. It was as if they had come to a consensus together silently that he was their biggest obstacle in the days to come.
"You should be careful now." Roy calmly gave Xu Feng a warning as he turned around and exited.
'Careful huh.' Xu Feng mused inwardly. 'As expected of the Origin Trial. Even these Trainees are my enemies.'
