Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 441: Pillar of Support

Steelshot loud cries were heard as they reverberated throughout the environment they were in.

As his loud cries reached the ears of Gentle Wind, her facial expression darkened. 'This Steelshot is creating a scene again? Did I not warn him to remain inconspicuous?'

While Gentle Wind pondered over how to punish the latter, she remained composed in front of her group which consisted of the likes such as Sunblade, Frost Rogue, and many more.

"We'll pretend we didn't just hear that." Autumn Breeze, who was lucky enough to remain with Gentle Wind, said calmly.

Nodding in agreement, Gentle Wind resumed using the private message of their group to chat.

Although they weren't allowed to contact outside players, they were capable of contacting those within the raid. That way, they could still communicate with each other even if they were to separate. At least, it was quite generous of the Divine World to not be extremely harsh and strict.

And it was precisely because many knew about this method that not many people were chatting, prompting Steelshot to be truly unlucky.

Had it been Xu Feng's shouting, then none would have cared one bit. After all, he was the Raid Leader, but who was Steelshot?

Not trying to sound harsh, but he was just a little bit better than a background character among the many players in this raid.

Meanwhile, at this point, Steelshot could only pray for his future once the raid ended as he stepped forward to the front. "Raid Leader, must you really handpick me to be his pillar of support?"

"Of course," Xu Feng laughed coldly. "Who else but you are qualified when you know how to lend a hand to your fellow group mate?"

Initially, Ardent Lance was still lamenting his miserable fate, but when he heard what Xu Feng had said, especially his implicit meaning. Realization dawned upon him as he pointed at Steelshot.

"So it was you who pushed me forward?" Ardent Lance's brows wrinkled in fury as he pointed at Steelshot in disbelief. A second later, he turned to Xu Feng, and determination filled his eyes.

"Thank you, Raid Leader for giving me such a wonderful pillar of support! I felt as if my natural nervousness was minimized by a lot with Steelshot presence here." He cupped his fist and thanked him sincerely.

"..."

Steelshot's expression turned vivid when he understood the underlying meaning of Ardent Lance's proclamation.

'This bastard wants to drag me down!!'

"Great, I'm sure Steelshot wouldn't mind assisting his fellow teammate, right?" Xu Feng turned to Steelshot, who begrudgingly nodded and smiled.

"I'll do my best, Raid Leader," Steelshot said, concealing all the tears that wanted to seep out.

With a nod, Xu Feng then proceeded to inform the other group to begin to split up.

"Now I have all of you added in the respective team message, so you may contact me whenever you encounter a problem." Xu Feng calmly announced.

And he continued, "I'll also give you a brief information of the monsters you may or may not encounter. The dungeon is ever-changing, so I can't be sure of who you might face either, only a range of possibilities."

"Um, Raid Leader?" Blake suddenly raised his hand, almost as if he were a student waiting for permission to speak from the teacher.

"Yes, Blake?"

"If we split up, what is our goal?"

"That's a good question, Student Blake." Xu Feng clasped his hands and instructed everyone to open their map.

"Do you see all those narrowing passages that could lead elsewhere, along with a glowing light near the end of them?"

"S-Student Blake?" Startled, Blake pursed his lips and decided to ignore the address temporarily.

"Are you saying we need to head toward those glowing lights?" He continued, trying to get a clear understanding of the objectives.

It wasn't just him wanting clarification, but the many players here were also confused by the structure and objective of the dungeon. The system description of the Fortress of the Fallen couldn't be any more vague than it was already.

"Indeed, those glowing lights are precisely the location of the oppressive pillars that were reducing our stats by 35%." Xu Feng responded, revealing the importance of the objective.

"Without destroying the oppressive pillars, we can forget about even trying to raid the boss of this dungeon."

"I understand," Blake nodded, realizing the significance of this task.

"And what about the passage that doesn't have any glowing light?" Gentle Wind suddenly chimed in and pointed out an abnormality. There were 11 passages in total, but only 10 of them had a glowing light near the far end.

Turning to her, Xu Feng simply declared, "The one without the glowing light is not to be explored until all 10 oppressive pillars have been destroyed. Anyone found to trespass over there without my permission is considered a saboteur and shall be put on the blacklist immediately."

The last passage naturally led to the Boss' room, but doing so would trigger the special condition, Timed Gates.

Not to mention, without shattering the oppressive pillars that reduced their stats by a whopping 35%, it was equivalent to asking for a team wipeout.

Unless their team was extremely high level and were smurfing in this dungeon, then no matter how perceptive and skilled his command was, the raid would be next to impossible to complete.

"Are there any more questions before we all split up?" Xu Feng questioned loudly.

"What happens after we destroy the oppressive pillars on the passage we're assigned to?" Suddenly, one person raised such a question.

Stupefied, Xu Feng had to search for the source and noticed it was Emberwolf, who had raised the question.

"Are you being serious or sarcastic here?" Xu Feng inquired, clearly dumbfounded by his question.

Meanwhile, Emberwolf seemed offended by Xu Feng's remark. "What do you mean by sarcastic? Do I look like such a fool to be sarcastic to you at this moment? You answer everyone else but me. Can you be any more biased?"

Silence…. The atmosphere turned deadly silent after hearing Emberwolf's aggrieved and enraged tone.
