Chapter 92: Stop Calling Me Daddy!
"..."
"....."
In my room, I kept staring at my supposed "son" in awkward silence.
He was now in the form of a naked human child that looked like a younger version of me, but with pitch black hair and azure eyes. He looked cute now with that smile on his face.
He opened his mouth: "When will you feed me, my great daddy?"
"What the hell do you even eat?!" I responded in confusion, remembering his strange tentacles form.
"Mana stones, mana crystals and mana cores! Please dad!" He pleaded with teary eyes, but I didn't respond.
He could now talk easily without shaking. He was really a fast adapter, but that wasn't the problem.
The problem was that I could hear his thoughts, and I didn't like what I was hearing…
[After he feeds me enough to become stronger, I'll simply wait until he meets that girl before finding an opportunity to eat her corpse. From her description in the novel, her meat must be soft and juicy~]
Yeah, I absolutely didn't like what I was hearing.
'Hey, can you hear me?'
"What—!" He suddenly panicked as he kept looking around himself, then as if the realization hit him, he gazed at me with a pale face.
[Can… Can you hear that?]
'Yes.'
"Ah!" He knelt on the ground and slammed his head on the floor. "Please forgive this undutiful son, father! I didn't intend to lie about what I'm eating."
He raised his head, tears flowing out of his eyes. "I have just thought that you wouldn't understand my nature. I was afraid that you'd be disappointed in me! I'm a flesh eater! A disgusting creature according to this society!"
[Don't think. Don't show that you are partially lying. Just stop thinking!]
"..."
'That's a problem…'
I let out a sigh and looked my spirit in the eyes. "Introduce yourself from the start. And don't lie. I have no problem with you eating people."
His eyes lit up before he stood again.
"Okay… ahem… I'm now your spirit, probably. I don't know too much about myself. All I have are your memories and some instinct knowledge. We have to explore our potential ourselves!" As he finished talking, he sat on the floor with a smile.
'Hmm… that explains how he knows about the novel. The information in my head doesn't contain everything about him.'
[Information? Wh-what type of information…?]
"...."
'Is there any way to stop reading each other's thoughts? It isn't comfortable…'
[I don't think there is any… It's unbreakable bond]
A sigh escaped my mouth again. I had now to live while hearing a human eater's thoughts.
There was also the feeding part…
The mana stones and mana crystals were rare minerals that could be found in the forest or inside a dungeon. They were used as a source of pure energy and in making some artifacts and potions.
They could also be used as mana storages, but they were barely effective in restoring mana. It was better to use them to make a mana potion, but a small bottle of mana potion would cost me 10k EC!
For the minerals themselves, a small stone costs 100 EC at least, while the crystal costs 1k EC.
"How… how many do you need?" I asked nervously, scared of the answer.
"Hmm…" He narrowed his eyes for a moment before answering. "2 mana crystals a week, or 25 mana stones. I don't know if a mana potion would be effective."
'Fuck!' I cursed inwardly in agony, imagining myself working hard just to feed him.
And he was just a newborn. What would he eat later?
[Fuck!]
My spirit also cursed inwardly, but he seemed happy while saying it.
"Hey… don't repeat everything I say… especially the curses."
He stared at me with his cold azure eyes for a moment before raising his hand excitingly. "Fuck!"
"...."
I couldn't tell if he was acting childish on purpose or if he really had a childish side.
He seemed to have a complex mental age just like me when I arrived in this world for the first time.
I looked at the spirit and asked: "What will happen if I don't feed you this week? And how does flesh affect your hunger?"
He answered nervously. "I'll go into slumber… and eating increases my power. Flesh isn't as effective as mana, but it's better than nothing. I'm only half an hour old. I can barely stand up!"
As if proving his point, he tried to jump but his tiny legs failed him.
"How do you know these things?" I asked curiously. "How do you know what you are supposed to eat?"
"The same way you drink breast milk, it's instinct. The difference is that I know them from your memories… and I'm smart!"
Seeing him making a black glass on his eyes to seem smart, A chuckle left my mouth. Maybe he wasn't that bad after all.
I teleported to the bed and sat on it before using 2 invisible hands to carry the spirit and put him beside me.
Scratching his hair, I began to summarize the information in my head.
Cosmic spirits didn't have fixed power or abilities. They were depending on who had fed them until they hatched. As for me, I probably ended up with a pure fighter.
As if he was made to complete me, he had an absolute talent in using katana, and his affinities were the same as me. He was a perfect partner for an archer like me.
He also had the abilities of my first trait, the apex predator, and the ability of shape shifting, like how he was just a tentacled monster earlier and how he made a glass of black flesh.
Additionally, maybe because I was feeding it my aether, he got something called cosmic aether core, but I didn't know the difference yet.
Also, he could hide in my soul at any time like a soul-bound artifact. And because of our unbreakable bond — none of us could even think about harming the other.
Lastly, he had his own spatial awareness and spatial storage. There were probably more things, but I couldn't know them yet.
He was really good for a spirit. The spirit I fought in the combat test couldn't even be compared to him.
"Is there anything you want to share, my dear son?" I asked with a wide smile.
[Yes, I'm partially sharing your senses…]
"...."
My smile froze instantly.
"What do you mean… partially?"
[I can see what you see, smell what you smell, hear what you hear, taste what you taste, and barely feel what you feel. That means I won't feel as much pain as you! Hahaha!]
'Damn! Why only the good senses!'
[Hehe… now what about feeding me? I'm really starving! And I need a name. Name me, DADDY!]
"Stop calling me daddy! You son of—" I was going to curse him, but stopped in the end after the realization hit me.
[What? Why did you stop?]
His lips curled into a wide smirk as he mocked: "Say it! I'm son of what? Say it, Daddy! You have almost told your hidden truth!"
My mouth kept opening and closing. In the end, I let it out. "Son of… nice person."
He laughed in victory at my defeat.
Now, I had someone other than Aria that I couldn't curse freely. Because if I did… I'd curse myself.
I started pitying all the poor fathers in this world.
