Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World

Chapter 268: Queen

Xu Ying gritted his teeth in anger. His fangs created friction against each other, producing low clicking sounds.

"That heavenly beacon cannot fall into her hands. The Lion Kings already chose me to inherit it!" He thundered, raising his voice at Kael.

They didn't exactly choose him, they had hinted at it though. But Xu Ying was holding onto everything he had right now and couldn't care about technicalities.

Kael, having stood up from his pillow throne, turned to Xu Ying, "Are you threatening me?"

Katari teleported away from everyone's view. She didn't appear anywhere. She had simply used the first technique she and Kael had learned, spatial camouflage.

Her disappearance caused Xu Ying and the others to feel greatly distressed. Not having their eyes on Katari made them feel as though there was a sharp blade hanging above their heads.

"No," Xu Ying answered, putting his hand down. There was no point attacking Alora, Kael would not allow anything to happen to her.

"Do you accept the contract?" Kael asked, taking a step toward Xu Ying and Alora.

Xu Ying breathed heavily, his long fangs exposing themselves from the corners of his lips. He was really angry.

If Alora really succeeded in taking the heavenly beacon for herself, the lion kings might be displeased but they wouldn't necessarily take it away from her.

Taking it away from her would mean killing her, which they would be reluctant to do for a lion Queen.

Lion Queens were very rare in heaven as most pillars of the civilization were male lions who later became lion kings. The chances of a Lion Queen appearing was always going to be low.

To be a Lion Queen required more than just strength, intelligence and allies were also needed.

The Lion Kings of the Cross Claw Alliance would try to rope her in, and if they couldn't, other alliances would reach out with helping hands.

Male or female, what they respected most was individual strength.

"Okay," Xu Ying nodded with great difficulty, he was losing his opportunity, "I accept,"

Immediately, the golden contract dispersed into golden moats of light, and Xu Ying's identity mark was added to the Lion System.

Seeing Xu Ying reluctantly agree, the other lion youths all accepted the contract and immediately, their identity marks were added to the Lion System.

Alora looked at Xu Ying, her expression calm and her body had stopped trembling. She looked at him weirdly, like she had finally recognized Xu Ying as a threat.

Xu Ying glanced at her coldly, his pupils had shrunk and his black eyes revealed murderous intent.

He hated her with every fiber of his being. If not for her, he would have eventually found a way to get the Heavenly Beacon from Kael.

She wasn't smarter than him, just more determined.

"I accept," Alora said. Her contract also disappeared.

The cross-shaped Heavenly Beacon beside Kael immediately shot toward Alora, effortlessly passing through the magic barrier and sinking into her chest.

"..." Xu Ying felt a pang in his chest when he witnessed this. This was it, it was done. The only way to get the Heavenly Beacon back was to kill her.

The contract only said that Kael was to ensure she got the heavenly beacon. It never said anything about what would happen after she got it.

Maybe, he could still kill her for it…

Unfortunately, Kael could guess what he was thinking and wasn't going to give Xu Ying the luxury of laying his hands on Alora, not yet…

When fusing with the heavenly beacon, it has a strange effect whereby it temporarily pushes its wielder's potential.

It was very little but if the lion or lioness was already close to the point of their next evolution, fusing with the heavenly beacon could give them a little push.

Alora was long at this point.

As soon as the heavenly beacon sank into her chest, she felt her body evolving, changing, and transforming.

Her clothes disappeared as she dropped on all fours, transforming into her white-furred lioness form.

Her body began to grow, and her claws clanked against the tiled ground. She squinted her eyes due to the discomfort of having her bones rapidly expand and shift locations.

Within her, her Frost power pool expanded. Another power pool appeared within her, one that was linked to the heavenly beacon.

Like most Lion Kings had been doing in this era, Alora's personal power pool began to spill into this new extra power pool obtained from the heavenly beacon.

However, Alora's identity mark has also been added to the Lion System, the same Lion System that was currently having a bit of excess Conquering Essence.

With Alora linked to the Lion System, Kael became somewhat connected to Alora, and by extension, the heavenly beacon within her.

Conquering Essence flowed into Alora's extra power pool, rushing in and settling into her body as if that was what the pool was made for.

Her frost powers were forced out and sent back to her personal power pool, causing the temperature around her to drop significantly and a layer of ice to cover the ground she stood on.

Her eyelids shot open, and the pair of blue irises revealed traces of total clarity. A short interaction between her frost powers and the Conquering Essence exposed her to a feeling of power she never knew existed.

She became addicted, standing still until the Conquering Essence Pool was filled up.

Seeing this, Kael nodded. The heavenly beacon still belonged to him, one way or the other.

Alora's aura changed right in front of Xu Ying's eyes. At first, she simply kept on growing, reaching a height of slightly more than two and a half meters.

Her aura rose to match Xu Ying's, and then when she was exposed to the Conquering Essence, her aura shot through the roof.

The magic barrier around her froze solid, blocking her from the view of those watching. Only Kael was aware of what was going on inside.

"Get ready to leave this planet," Kael said to Xu Ying.

"I wonder how you plan on fighting against the resistance that will be coming your way. You can't remain on this planet forever." Xu Ying said.

The lion youths had already begun to explore the features of the lion system and they revealed expressions of surprise. Especially Thawne, he seemed to be getting some very dirty ideas after looking at the mission board.

"Hmm, when that resistance comes, would you be standing against me?" Kael asked.

"Even if I wanted to, I'd probably be one of the first to die right?"

"I don't know, you'd have to challenge me and see for yourself. I won't be as lenient as Noel,"

Xu Ying gulped, he reminded himself that this was the Primordial Lion. That contract was just one of the mysterious powers he had shown.

"If you want, I can have Alora help you get your own heavenly beacon," Kael said, his words shocking Xu Ying.

Kael could indeed ask Alora to do that. It would be nice to have someone like Xu Ying as an ally, although Kael was sure that he would soon outgrow his use.

"If you can, I won't mind," Xu Ying said, staining a smile.

"..." Kael no longer said anything. He didn't make any promises, he just mentioned it so as to keep Xu Ying hoping and prevent him from trying to sabotage Kael when he gets back to heaven.

What Xu Ying does with the string of hope Kael has given him is up to him.

*CRACK!*

The magic ice barrier cracked, a dark fissure going down the middle. Then it shattered and fell into multiple pieces.

Alora stood there, having transformed back into her humanoid form.

Her long sky-blue gown with white collar and edge fur remained spotless.

Looking at Alora, one could tell that something had changed. Her eyes, she was no longer holding back her disdainful gaze. As she looked at Xu Ying, she made it apparent with her gaze that she was indeed superior to him.

She looked at Adolf, Thawne, King Larvis's grandchildren, the one-horned green-haired guy, Baba, and the rest.

She was not just superior to them in mentality, but also in strength.

"I'm better…" She muttered to herself. Her shoulders were straight and her head was held high, he overflowed with pride and noble dignity.

But once she turned to look at Kael who was staring at her amusingly, her aura faltered.

The Conquering Essence within her, the thing that made her better than Xu Ying and everyone else, came from the Primordial Lion standing before her.

"You may leave," Kael said calmly. He was done with them, "Oh, and my first order for you.

Don't let your way back be used by other lion kings to rush here." Kael said telepathically.

Alora nodded. She found it hard to take orders from him right after she had felt such power.

The contract had already gone to work, she could sense that she was now moving under the guidance of the contract to obey Kael.

Kael had to make this order because the Lion Kings might not be able to locate this planet but they could definitely latch on to a heavenly gate that was opened from here to heaven.

Alora turned to her group and said with a commanding tone, "Let's go."
