Chapter 262: Lion System Upgrade
"Where is Isaiah?" Katari asked, her telepathic voice laced with absolute killing intent.
The scenes of that day resurfaced in her mind, she felt the numbness from her neck, she remembered choking on her own blood, and she remembered that this one had attacked Kael.
Baba wished more than anything in the world to answer her but he couldn't, he was already losing consciousness and found it hard to construct basic telepathic words.
The question was never directed to Baba in the first place, it was directed at everyone else who was present on top of the magic shuttle.
Alora stared in silence at the powerful humanoid lioness, her thoughts best known to her. She seemed mesmerized by her display of power, the way she just casually held Baba up like he was weightless, amazed, and frightened her.
"He's locked up, he's with us!" Xu Ying said, trying to calm Katari down before she did something that couldn't be undone.
"Bring him to me," Katari ordered. Her tone instantly garnered her the frown of everyone.
"Release Baba first," Xu Ying said.
…
The silence that followed after was suffocating and loud. The runes underneath Xu Ying's clothes began to glow as he readied himself for a fight.
The runes on the surface of the magic shuttle lit up with power and many sections opened up to reveal small cannons, all of which pointed at Katari.
Katari didn't seem to register the danger, or perhaps, she just didn't care.
*Sigh*
Suddenly, she sighed, feeling dejected. Kael had ordered her to behave herself and not cause any trouble.
If not…
Baba fell to the ground as Katari faded out of existence.
"Fine then," Katari's voice entered Xu Ying's head, surprising him greatly. He turned around quickly to see Katari casually standing there with an expressionless face.
He hadn't even detected her presence at all, he could only imagine what would happen if she really wanted to kill him.
The youths had their eyes wide open, Katari moved as though she was one with the void. Even the cannons had to readjust as they could not keep track of her movements.
Someone with this kind of ability, why would she be afraid of them?
"Bring him if you want to meet the King, or don't bother coming at all.
Mind you, you all are required to come," Katari said.
Before Xu Ying could respond, Katari disappeared from his view, fading out of existence like she was never here.
Xu Ying released a sigh of relief, that was close.
Baba coughed repeatedly, trying to catch his breath. His chest rose and fell and he could feel his blood pressure spiking. He needed to calm down.
Adolf, the red-haired, gazed at Baba with a disinterested look. If it was before, he would have been making a joke of Baba, mocking him for being weak in the presence of a female.
But today, being overpowered by one of Kael's consorts seemed like a normal thing, he even felt that Baba should get used to it.
With a sigh, he turned around and jumped into the hatch. He had decided not to go, he preferred not to see Kael, he'd rather just wait back and let things play their course.
Besides, he guessed that Kael was not one to easily go back on his words, he had fulfilled his own end of the first condition.
But Katari's last sentence lingered in his mind, all of them were required to be there.
*Sigh*
"You all should prepare, you two, go and get Isaiah," Xu Ying said and directed his last sentence to King Larvis's two grandchildren.
The two grey-haired humanoids nodded their heads and descended down the hatches.
A strange glint flashed in Alora's bright blue eyes. Her snowy white hair fluttered wildly due to the wind, giving her a heroic visage.
'Maybe, I can still do it…'
Meanwhile, Xu Ying had already begun giving orders to 27.
#####
Inside the pocket dimension, Kael sat on the throne pillow of the throne level, listening to the serene silence.
He sat cross-legged, his back straight and his eyes were closed.
The large black pillow he was sitting on glowed with faint golden lines, an evidence of his connection to the whole Iron Blood Pyramid.
He could observe through the hidden observation runes scattered in different areas. The pyramid was quiet, besides N'bayé and Kael, only Olivia was present and she was still sleeping.
All the other lionesses had gone out to do something.
'Finally,' Kael thought to himself.
The lion system and his heavenly beacon had become one. Now, Kael felt more connected to his heavenly beacon.
The fusion had brought about some changes which he welcomed very much
[Chat Feature: Deactivated]
Kael opened his eyes and a golden screen with those very words appeared in front of him.
Kael smiled, finally, another thing had been achieved
[Chat Feature: Activated]
Kael activated it, and instantly, all the lions that were connected to the lion system received the update.
Golden screens flickered in front of their faces, showing them the new feature that would bring about a new age.
While the lions were getting busy with their new feature, Kael was drawn to something else, something more incredible.
He was absorbing Conquering Essence at the moment, and there was no Conquering Essence in hw pyramid at this time.
So technically, there should be no Conquering Essence for him to absorb from.
Yet, Conquering Essence was now being siphoned into his body in very small amounts.
The explanation for this was that Kael was absorbing the Conquering Essence from all the lions in the lion system.
As of now, the number of lions linked to the Lion System has grown exponentially, with many prides welcoming new members or referring any lion they encountered and adding them to the Lion System.
Naturally, the lions had been busy with other things, both those on land and those in the sea.
The pride leaders had been going around, conquering in the name of the golden lion. Although a lot of lions had died, many more creatures had fallen to their hands.
Many of the pride leaders were currently being given the title of Lion Lord, who were all supposed to be subordinated to a Lion Prince.
This gave them a status that was very much different from caste leaders, no caste leader had the right to order them to do anything. In fact, Kael had even contemplated allowing the Lion Lords to borrow from him and set up their own castes.
After all, they were now part of his clan, even though it was experimental. He wished for there to be some sort of exclusivity as all of them should be of high quality.
Currently, he had less than thirty Lion Lords, which was enough for now.
Kael already had a vision for his clan structure, one hundred Lion Princes, then one thousand Lion Lords. All of whom would answer only to him.
Burdo was currently the only Lion Prince that the Ol-mytee Clan had but Kael wasn't worried about Burdo accumulating too much power.
Eventually, his sons would be born and many of them would take their place as his Lion Princes.
For now, with the Lion Lords engaging in so many Conquering Activities, Conquering Essence was being generated in small amounts around them and unless Kael went there physically, he would not be able to absorb the Conquering Essence. Eventually, the Conquering Essence would fade away.
However, with the fusion of the Lion System and the heavenly beacon, this was no longer a problem for Kael.
As long as those lions were linked to his Lion System, he could siphon the Conquering Essence from those places through the lions.
This was simply amazing for Kael, so many problems were solved with this new feature.
The Lion System, which was powered by Conquering Essence, could now work at maximum capacity as there were enough resources to spare, hence the chat feature.
Kael already had a maximum limit for Conquering Essence he could store in his body, and the heavenly beacon also had a limit which was a mirror of his own power pool. So, Kael could not continue absorbing Conquering Essence indefinitely.
If it was like that, Primordial Lions would have had an easier time.
Rather, after Kael's two Conquering Essence pools were filled, the Conquering Essence was diverted to support the Lion System.
The exchange feature that had been somewhat lacking was now being updated and soon, it would change many things.
After some thought, Kael decided to alter something else. He changed the exclusivity of the Dominion Roar.
Now, not just pride leaders, but all lions could use the Dominion Roar. There was enough Conquering Essence to support such expenditure now, and even if there was none, the lions would just find that their Dominion Roar technique had no effect.
Kael wanted all lions to have a common ability that they would be known for because of him.
When he pulled more lions and lion kings into his fold, they would see the lion system and all its perks as a reason to remain standing by his side.
He could already imagine it, the terrifying roars of the lions resounding across heaven and the cosmos. All creatures that heard the roars would watch helplessly as their powers were stripped away from them.
"One step closer…" Kael muttered.
