Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World

Chapter 257: She's Awake

Kael opened his eyes, but his gaze was unfocused. He thought about himself for a few moments, reliving every memory 9f his past life in clear detail.

A deep frown was on his face, showing that he was extremely disgusted. The lion side of him found it hard to imagine that he had once been that kind of person.

He had let them tell him how to feel, how to act, how to behave, how to ask questions, and how to interact.

While he followed the rules and played by the books, those who were willing to twist the rules and find loopholes in the system were the ones who got ahead of him.

And now, here he was in another world, trying to create a system designed to keep his vassals from progressing, just like the government had done.

All so that he could have better control.

Some things just don't change at all, even in other worlds.

*Sigh*

Kael started recalling all that happened and how he had arrived at this situation.

Ishat's memory had been triggered at the same time as one of his core memories that stuck to him. It was a memory of him accepting his submission, and Ishat's memory reacted, trying to replace that memory out of desperation.

This was an entirely random thing as Kael had always thought of many similar memories of his past life. Ishat's memory just coincidentally got triggered at that very moment.

This naturally caused an identity crisis and some complications. Kael's memories had been fighting for dominance and Ishat's memory was not willing to let Kael experience anything called submission.

Kael ended up fainting from the pain and fatigue that had been caused by the mental battle.

How could Kael let go of his memories, they were the reason why he was who he was today.

If not for all those setbacks, if not for all those disappointments, if not for his regrets, would he still be the same Kael?

Sure, Kael could have played the game differently. If he had been a little bit richer, more aware of what was reality, and not as lazy as he had been, he could have avoided many mistakes.

But if that happened, what would he have used as a template to learn from?

If he had been successful right from the start, he wouldn't have minded, but since this was how his life ended, he had to make the best use of the experience to avoid what not to do.

His subconscious mind had worked hard to revive him, bringing back his memories to remind Kael of who he was and how he got to where he was.

But this was also worrying for Kael, was him gaining the memories of the past Primordial Lions a mistake?

From what he knew, the other Primordial Lions never had these past memories to help them out, Kael was an exception.

The Highest Will had said that only a reincarnated soul with past life memories would be able to handle having these Primordial Lion memories.

But it was starting to seem like there were still some downsides to it. Most of the memories that the Primordial Lions had left behind were extremely strong and could easily influence Kael's personality and mind if he wasn't careful.

If he wasn't careful, he would continue experiencing these false identities. This wasn't a good thing for Kael.

While his past life memories served as an anchor to hold him down and prevent him from forgetting who he was, it wasn't strong enough.

He needed to find a solution to this, and he needed to find it fast.

Kael was the most blessed of all the Primordial Lions, yet he was also the most cursed.

He had the privilege of the past memories of his predecessors and also some inheritance left behind by one of them for him.

But he was the first Primordial Lion that wouldn't have the full support of the lion kings in history. A lot of lion kings even desired to kill him.

The last thing he wanted was a ticking time bomb in the form of an unstable mind.

Kael sat up from the soft material he was laying on and observed his environment. He found that he was inside a bedroom of some sort.

The walls were pure white with red decorations shaped like dripping blood.

The floor was of black marble tiles, old to the touch and reflecting the light from the ceiling.

Kael was in one of the rooms of the Iron Blood Pyramid, and it seemed to be the master bedroom.

The red bed he was lying on was circular and red in color. At the edge of the bed was a small scratch that seemed too clean yet too rough.

If this was the master bedroom, then this was also probably where Aziza had slept. That meant that that tear at the edge of the circular bed was probably caused by him.

'How long have I been out?' Kael asked himself as he scratched his head. He sat up from the bed and moved his body.

Popping sounds reverberate from his body as his joints adjust after not being used for some time.

His black clothes were still on him, and nothing much about his body had changed. Although, Kael now felt slightly more clear-headed than before.

He felt more calm and less impulsive than before.

Kael walked to the shimmering blue door with steady steps. However, before he got to it, the door dissolved into white particles as a humanoid stepped into the room.

Kael's golden eyes glittered as he set his eyes on the female figure in front of him. His legs stopped moving and he just stood there, gazing at her.

The female humanoid also stopped in her tracks, her face was indifferent but her eyes could not hide the surprise and excitement she felt within.

Her black hair fell to her neck, complimenting her black eyes, just as Kael remembered. The last time he saw those eyes open had been a while.

She had a scar on her neck, one she got for trying to protect him.

"Katari," Kael said telepathically.

The humanoid woman standing before him was none other than Katari, awake.

There was hardly anything different about her other than the fact that she was now wearing some clothes.

Katari now donned a simple pale blue short flare gown that did little to hinder her movement.

She stood with her bare feet, likely not finding any footwear that would be worthy of being on her feet.

"Kael," Katari said, her voice should have come out as monotone but it carried with it some tone of excitement and melancholy.

Suddenly, Katari's feet moved, and she dashed forward, crossing the distance between her and Kael in an instant.

"Oh," Kael said as he felt Katari's arms wrapped around him embracing him in a tight hug.

Kael was stunned, speechless even. He was stunned by Katari's expressiveness as well as her strength.

As soon as she hugged him, Kael could feel the terrifying amount of power contained within her body.

The power was so great that Kael's heart shuddered from being exposed to her aura. Katari had successfully entered the tier 4 stage and her might was overflowing.

Kael noticed it, how the space was unusually stable after she entered the room. It was as if she had unknowingly locked the space just by being present.

It would be impossible for most creatures to teleport into or out of her vicinity. What was amazing was that she wasn't doing this consciously, it was just a side effect of her aura.

Kael, settling his mind, wrapped his arms around Katari, returning the hug. He rested his chin on her head, feeling her cold warmth as she fell deeper into his embrace.

She looked small with Kael hugging her but that was just because Kael was seven feet tall. She herself was more than six feet in height.

"Kael, I missed you," Katari said telepathically, genuinely expressing her heart. Two streams of tears slid down her cheeks and fell into the black fabric of Kael's shirt.

"I…" Kael wished to say something but he found it hard to say it. It just wasn't his style, "Me too," He finally said.

"I'm sorry, Kael. I wasn't able to wake up in time to support you, I wasn't strong enough…" Katari began.

"Shhh!," Kael shushed her while pulling out of the hug, "At least, you're awake and stronger now." He said.

He didn't tell her to stop apologizing since it wasn't her fault, even now, he still needed her to be on edge and have a sharp mind rather than get comfortable.

He stared into her watery eyes, giving her a small smile that made her feel relieved but also anxious.

"Isaiah is not yet dead, there is still time," Kael said with a meaningful grin forming on his lips.

Hearing this, the tears coming from Katari's eyes immediately ceased to flow and her expression became hardened.

Seeing her expression, Kael almost felt pity for Isaiah.

"How long have I been asleep," Kael asked as he led her to the entrance of the room.

"About a month now," Katari replied

"Huh?"
