Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World

Chapter 186: Fortune Suppression

"We've passed this place before," Baba's voice echoed out, reaching the ears of his companions.

He stared at the ground, observing a stone he had already seen once before. He was sure that it was the exact same stone, even the way it was positioned was the same.

Not just that, even the trees were the same, everything was the same as it had been a few minutes ago.

"We know," Alora said, her bright blue eyes scanning her surroundings. With all the dirt that littered this place, her fur remained white and clean.

"Xu Ying, umm, please, are you sure you know where we are going?" Aldof asked as he too looked around.

None of them had any look of fear in their eyes, just feelings of uncertainty.

Xu Ying, the three-meter tall lion with a sparse dark mane and dark yellow fur stood ahead of the group. His presence was one of the reasons why these lions and lionesses were not too worried.

Xu Ying was currently staring at a red holographic screen floating in front of him.

"The signal is constantly being changed," Xu Ying replied, showing a standard level of calmness for someone of his caliber.

"I don't get it," The grey-furred lioness among them said, "Why are we still following that signal? It's clear that something fishy is going on with two signals having appeared at once."

Another grey-furred, a lion, nodded his head, "This is a pocket dimension, it's not like it has an infinite amount of space.

If we keep walking in a certain direction, eventually we should find what we're looking for,"

"The problem is that we don't even know what we are looking for. What if someone finds it before us?" The green-furred lion with one horned man spoke.

"Then we kill them," The biggest guy said. As he spoke, his muscles tensed and he looked like he was ready to explode.

This lion had the thickest mane among all of them and his size was imposing. Xu Ying was the only lion present that was bigger than him and that was just because of the difference in tiers.

"Orion, can you just…" The green-furred lion started but immediately went silent as the big guy gave him a nasty side glance.

It was already bad that he had not fought anybody since he came to this world. Orion was a war lion, violence was what he delighted in the most. After spending so much time in a dormant state, he was starting to get aggressive toward his peers.

"You're all right," Xu Ying said as he removed the red holographic screen from his face and looked around.

"This place is not infinite, if we keep on walking, we'll eventually find what we are looking for.

But at the same time, we don't know what exactly we should be looking for. At this rate, the only way I will be able to locate the heavenly beacon is if I get very close to it.

As for whether others will be able to take the heavenly beacons and other treasures for themselves? Who knows.

If they find the other treasures first, then that's fine. But if they find the Heavenly Beacon, it can get tricky, especially if they fuse with it.

But look at this place, someone clearly intended for lions to find this place and made many preparations for it.

I doubt if any creature who is not a lion will be able to lay their claws on any treasure. At least, I hope so. Other lions are the ones we should be looking out for,"

Xu Ying's words were reasonable and caused many of them to nod their heads.

"Orion," Xu Ying called to the big guy, "Don't worry, you'll get your fill of blood soon, I promise you," He said.

Hearing Xu Ying's words, Orion smiled and calmed down. At least he had respect for Xu Ying despite his rising temper.

Xu Ying nodded, it was very important to appease all the members of his team, all of them were crucial at this point.

If Chloe was still with them, she would have been tasked with scouting, taking advantage of her natural ability to fly.

Now, they had to settle for improvisations and natural senses.

For the group, their trump card lay in their Safety Recall System. And as long as they encountered danger that they couldn't handle, they could easily escape to the safety of the magic shuttle.

It was safe to say fighting Xu Ying in person was completely different from fighting him when he was in his magic shuttle.

"Thawne, how are you feeling now?" Xu Ying then asked to the lion that was at the back.

Thawne, now a normal-colored lion with deep yellow eyes, stayed at the rear end of the group formation.

He currently had a tired expression, as though he was trying to carry something very heavy.

This was unusual as Thawne wasn't like this. Although he wasn't the most cheerful of the group, he wasn't quite either.

His current disposition was as a result of the suppression of the power of fortune that this dimension imposed on him.

As a fortune lion, Thawne was very useful to the group as a whole. He didn't need to do much usually, just make sure he was present to run his luck on his companions.

That was the main reason he had been asked to come on this expedition in the first place, to increase their chances of success.

He never expected to experience a counter-luck field in this place.

Never in his life had he experienced this level of suppression, it was unheard of. He had met other fortune lions before, many of them who were very much more powerful than him, but none of them ever made him feel the way he was feeling now.

It felt like he was an ant being watched by a god and could be struck down at any moment.

It was oppressive, it was unbearable, no fortune lion should have to experience this. His fortune was his lifeblood, it was who he was as a lion, unlike Kael. If his fortune was being suppressed, his whole being would be suppressed.

The weight he felt currently wasn't just mental, he was also feeling extremely tired, like he had devolved and was suffering from a fatigue disease.

Thawne looked pitiful at the moment. No one would ever imagine that he was the depraved lion who 'fucked what he wanted and ate what he fucked'.

Right now, he just looked like a really large sickly lion. Even his chubbiness was becoming invisible, he was starting to look like a normal lion.

"I don't feel good at all," Thawne said as he walked forward with his head down.

Alora stared at his sorry figure with a strange thought in her head. What if Thawne's father, a lion king, came here in person?

Wouldn't he be suppressed just like this?

Alora had her own designs, schemes that extended far beyond this expedition. She was just a bit sad that she didn't have Chloe around to talk to.

"Whatever is happening to your fortune, it's evidence that the creator of this dimension intended for a certain someone to find this place.

It could be lions in general, it could be just a particular lion," Xu Ying commented. He himself didn't know how to address this situation, he had never seen it before.

"Who could it be? We'll kill him," Orion said with a displeased expression.

Xu Ying suddenly thought of Kael, the one who he had assumed might be a Primordial Lion. Xu Ying let out a chuckle and shook his head.

That was too outrageous.

A Primordial Lion? Here?

If that were the case, then it would mean the creator of this pocket dimension was likely a previous Primordial Lion or someone related to them.

It would mean that this place was set for the Primordial Lion to find.

It would mean that they had no chance of winning.

It would mean a mix of bad and good things.

It would mean a potential civil war.

Xu Ying shook his head to remove the outrageous thought from his head, the coincidence was too much and it was better to not think about it. Simply guessing it had caused a feeling of dread to take over his heart.

'No, it's not likely, the chances are very slim.' Xu Ying shook his head and convinced himself.

Alora glanced at Xu Ying, watching how his expression changed multiple times in a few seconds.

She could somewhat guess what this Magus Lion was thinking, she too had thought of Kael at this moment.

Still, she didn't falter and her heart remained calm and cold. She didn't care.

Indeed, if it were so, it would mean a lot of good things and bad things happening at the same time. But she didn't care, as long as she got what she wanted.

She could already imagine it, standing at the coldest peak of the Leonine Heaven mountain, declaring herself the strongest lioness of her kind.

And in her imagination, she saw Chloe standing by her side.

All lions would look up to her in reverence, and she would stare down at them, not as a mortal, not as a lion king, but as their one true god.
