Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World

Chapter 184: Dimensional Reflection

"Have you rested enough?" Kael asked with eagerness flashing in his eyes.

Chloe shook her head, "No, just give me some minutes," She replied.

Because this conversation was telepathically private and not audible, 27 could not hear what was being said.

However, he was not dumb and from the way the two were looking at each other, he could tell that they were having a conversation.

This disturbed him for some reason, wasn't Kael supposed to be a potential enemy? Why was Chloe acting so strange around him?

And most importantly, where was Wadolius?

"Do you guys do this often?" Kael asked as he sat down with his back facing the edge of the magic shuttle. A little bit more and he would fall off. Thankfully, the power of the Air Lion mysteriously eliminated his fear of heights, if he ever had one.

"The expedition?" Chloe wondered.

Kael nodded his head.

"Personally, we don't. In fact, this is our first time doing this. I have traveled to different worlds but I have never gone there for the purpose of retrieving a heavenly beacon."

"I see,"

"Yeah, this type of job is usually delegated to much more powerful lions and lionesses. If not for the constantly scrambled coordinates of this place, the lion kings would have descended by themselves to take it." Chloe said.

"So what then happens once Xu Ying and the rest get their hands in the heavenly beacon? How would they get back to heaven?" Kael asked, genuinely interested in the plans of this civilization of conquerors.

"Well, if we get the Heavenly Beacon, Xu Ying will use it to create a gate to heaven from here.

The Lion Kings can't pinpoint its location because it's constantly scrambling. King Larvis has gotten the coordinates fine, but even he can't come here.

The portal they created just to come here was too weak and only lower tiers like us were able to pass through without the portal collapsing on us.

From the scrambled spatial fabric outside his planet to the shifting coordinates. A lot of things are keeping this planet away from their reach.

They could still try to come manually by traveling through the vacuum of outer space but that would take hundreds of years at near-light speed, especially since they won't be able to open space portals.

So, if Xu Ying gets the heavenly beacon, he will be able to open a heavenly gate from here.

The kings can't access his world but Xu Ying can theoretically open a heavenly gate to heaven from here. This would create a stable pathway for the forces of Leonine heaven to access this world,"

Chloe said all these as if it was just another Tuesday. She didn't even bother trying to hide anything from Kael again, she was completely truthful.

"And what happens if Xu Ying cannot successfully retrieve the Heavenly Beacon?" Kael asked.

Chloe looked into Kael's eyes, knowing what he was thinking, "We'll be stuck on this planet, at least until the kings find a way to come here by themselves."

Kael nodded his large golden head with a thoughtful expression. He stood up, turned around, and looked down from the magic shuttle to see the whirlpool below and many aquatic creatures rushing in to enter the portal.

'Everything is as it should be…for now,' Kael subconsciously thought to himself.

"The lion kings won't accept me even if I take the heavenly beacon and become an official lion king myself, right?" Kael asked without turning back to look at Chloe.

Chloe sighed, "Not exactly, lions worship strength after all. If you have the ability to defend your crown, then they'll leave you alone.

But looking at you right now, sorry to say, you don't even stand a chance against the weakest lion king I know.

Most lion kings start with a minimum tier of tier 5 but there are some exceptions. Even then, there have been cases of tier 4 lion kings slaughtering tier 5 ordinary lions.

The power that they possess, the majority of them got by fighting, through bloodshed and brutal domination.

You do not have the ability to oppose even one of them," Chloe said truthfully.

Kael felt as if a burning punch had hit his metaphysical ego. It hurt to hear that, especially with how highly he saw himself.

"So the problem lies in strength after all," Kael said, to which Chloe had no response.

"Are you done resting?" Kael asked, going back to his usual stoic self again.

"A bit," Chloe said as she stood up and shook her body, allowing her black fur and feathers to adjust itself.

"Good, let's go," Kael said and unfolded his massive wings, he flapped them once and immediately sat into the sky.

"Mistress Chloe, do you wish to go with this lion into the portal? Won't you wait for master Xu Ying?" 27's voice resounded in her head at this time.

Chloe frowned, starting to find 27's inquisitiveness annoying and a constant reminder of her true relationship with Kael.

"27, mind your business," Chloe ordered as she unfolded her wings.

"Yes, mistress,"

With that, Chloe flapped her black wings and ascended into the sky, soon joining Kael below the clouds.

One golden-furred lion and one black-furred lioness, both winged.

Seeing that Chloe was ready, Kael tucked in his wings and dived straight for the portal at the bottom of the whirlpool pool.

Chloe silently followed behind him. The wind blew past their ears like the howls of a hungry ghost.

Below them, the aquatic animals had gotten sparse as most of them had already entered the portal.

The whirlpool continued spinning, not showing any signs of stopping anytime soon.

'Who opened the portal?' Kael thought, same with Chloe.

They had not thought about it before but now that they dived at the portal, they couldn't help but wonder what was the reason for the portal suddenly opening.

Cause if Chloe could remember, she didn't think Xu Ying had the means to open a portal to a pocket dimension, none that she knew of.

The two of them plunged into the portal, shooting straight into the aquatic environment on the other side.

Kael and Chloe held their breaths as they waved their paws around l, trying to find their bearing.

It was the same for the other aquatic creatures that had entered before them. For a moment l, everyone could not differentiate between what was up and what was down.

It felt so disorienting, like being drunk and sober at the same time.

It was only after some seconds that they realized that gravity had been turned upside down. They had passed through the portal in a falling motion, now they found themselves floating upwards with that same momentum.

Kael spread his wings and used them to push against the water. It worked as he was able to swim upwards and cover a large distance in a short amount of time.

Chloe did the same. For her, the water was the last place she ever wanted to be.

As Kael swam upward, a large blue and white shark with razor-sharp teeth, passed his side and overtook him. The shark was larger than him but not necessarily stronger from the looks of its aura.

As it swam by, its black eyes glanced at Kael's golden figure. On any other day, it would have thought that it attempted to attack Kael, but today it was rather busy.

Kael and Chloe got closer to the bright surface until they emerged from the water with a big splash.

Fire erupted from Kael's body midair, instantly drying him and ridding him of his wetness.

He spread his wings once again and flew high into the sky.

Chloe also used her own method. She could not immediately dry herself up so she just manipulated the wind to carry her while drying her up. It was slower and less effective when she didn't use her wings to assist her flight.

The both of them floated above the water body, looking around them to see the magnificent world they were in.

This place wasn't just any small pocket dimension, it was a whole world on its own.

"Is that the sun?" Kael asked bewildered to see the sun here with a clear blue sky. What kind of power was needed to achieve all this? This wasn't something that ordinary science and technology could replicate.

"I don't think so," Chloe said with water dripping from her body, "If my guess is correct, the sky here is a reflection of the sky in the real world.

Only a really powerful Space Lion would be able to create this effect to such a degree.

Even though it's just a reflection, it is no small feat," Chloe answered.

"Oh," Kael said, as Chloe implied, this was still very impressive. He could even feel the breeze blowing at his mane.

"Let's go," He said. As soon as Kael entered this pocket world, he had already sensed something 'wrong'.

His passive power over Luck was being suppressed by a very superior power, probably another power of luck.

Meanwhile, in the real world, shortly after Kael and Chloe passed through the portal, two figures streaked over the sea at incredible speeds, leaving white trails behind them.

And following behind them at a much slower pace were two large sharks. One with a blue and white body, the size of a megalodon.

The other shark was much smaller but had razor-sharp blades for fins and silver-colored triangular blades for teeth.

It was none other than the Cheetah brothers and the father and son shark duo.
