Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World

Chapter 174: Death Is Merciful, The Beach

Alora walked through the cold corridors of the magic shuttle, her shoes creating a clear crisp sound every time she took a step forward.

She kept her shoulders straight and her head high, carrying herself with the elegance of a sophisticated noble.

Her white hair fell to her back, whisking slightly as she moved. The hair complemented her pale white skin, which in turn contrasted with her bright blue eyes.

Eyes that should be cheerful but exuded nothing but a cruel chill.

Besides her, the prison cells of different creatures came and went. Inside the cells were the creatures they had captured before leaving the forest, many of whom would eventually fall into Thawne's hands.

Alora stopped in front of a particular prison cell. This cell had red glowing bars to keep its prisoner inside and the atmosphere here was suppressive.

"Prince Xu Ying has refused to turn around to get Chloe and the rest," Alora opened her mouth to speak in the traditional lion language.

She knew that Isaiah could speak her dialect, she didn't know how and she honestly wasn't too bothered to ask about it.

It wasn't strange for other creatures to learn how to speak the lion tongue.

After her voice died down, there was a period of silence before movements could be heard from within the cell.

Isaiah raised his head up to look at Alora with his one remaining eye. No longer was he the majestic space crane of before, he had now been reduced to a sorry beast stuck in his humanoid form.

"Xu Ying put you permanently in your Anthropomorphic form, you may as well die like this," Alora said coldly.

True to her words, Isaiah was now stuck in his humanoid form, unable to change into his true crane form to exercise his full might.

Apart from the eye that was gone, one hand and one leg were also missing. It looked like his right arm and left leg were cleanly severed before the wound had been sealed with something very hot.

This kind of pain, Isaiah had never imagined that he would experience it before in his life. If he knew beforehand that this would be the price for revenge, he would have reconsidered.

"I'm still trying to understand what gave you the audacity to trick us. We should have known from the start, how can a lion born into a savage world be as weak-willed as you spoke.

It was like declaring that a fish could not learn how to swim.

Yet, you were masterful in your deceit, you fooled us, and I commend you for that. But because of your antics, we may have lost the chance to befriend a new ally."

Alora raised her hands and wrapped her fingers around the glowing red bars. From her touch, the red light from the bars dimmed and frost crawled all over the metal surface.

"You must have thought you could get away with a quick death? No, that's not how we deal with troublemakers like you.

Death is too…merciful."

Alora's words sank into Isaiah's mind, causing a cold shiver to run down his spine. He could already see most coming out of his nose with every exhale he made.

He didn't talk, he dared not. Even if he wanted to, his tongue was cut off and his vocal cords were damaged.

The torture process had been so painfully slow that simply remembering it was another torture in itself. They had used the crudest of blades to cut his skin and chip away at his bones, all while enjoying the sound of his screams.

27 in particular was delighted to carve out flesh from his body while his master watched with calculative indifference.

Even Adolf didn't speak up for him, the red-haired was even the one responsible for cauterizing his wounds to stop the bleeding. Adolf didn't do it out of pity, he did it to fuel the pain.

Thawne merely shook his head in pity, his supplier was gone but that was it, he'll just have to find another one.

Alora leaned closer, almost letting her forehead touch the bars, "If anything happens to Chloe and the Wadolius, you will suffer.

It's not even a promise, it's a fact. You will suffer in ways you have never imagined. Xu Ying can be quite creative when it comes to bestowing punishment."

Isaiah really wanted to commit suicide, but even that was an ability that had been taken away from him.

"Let's just hope that Prince Xu Ying's calculations are right and that Kael will come to meet us by himself."

With that said Alora let go of the bars and walked away, continuing her stroll. Her blue and white dress flowed behind her like a two-colored waterfall.

As she made the distance between her and the cell, her cold expression broke into one of worry.

'Oh, Chloe…' she thought to herself while releasing a melancholic sigh, once again, she was lonely.

The sand on the beach was blasted away as Kael dropped to the ground, producing a low thud sound.

Grains of sand flew around with some of them splashing into the water.

Kael's eyes scanned the area. To his right, the beach line seemingly stretched infinitely, it was the same for the left.

He looked forward to gaze at the sea that also seemed to stretch far into the horizon. It was already evening and the sun was sinking into the horizon.

The scene from his perspective made it look like the sun was slowly sinking into the distant waters. It was a beautiful sight, one that Kael appreciated very much.

The golden lion walked forward, each of his steps left a deep paw-shaped imprint in the sand. He folded his wings, tucking them close to his body to keep the sand away from the golden feathers.

He stood before the shoreline, watching the waves rush toward him before collapsing and rejoining the rest of the sea. It kept on repeating, and Kael just stared at it.

No matter how fierce the waves were, the water never got to his paws, the sand around him remained dry and the water shirked away.

A few minutes later, the sound of powerful wings flapping and electricity cracking reached his ears.

He didn't need to turn back to know that it was Chloe and Ruda, Eidel was still a bit behind.

Normally, such a distance would have taken them half a week to cover, even as they were tier 3, but Kael kept pushing them to the limits.

It would take longer for warriors to traverse such distance unless they figured out a means of transportation.

'Log Carriers, mushrooms, the river,' Kael could think of multiple ways to speed up their transportation system. Unfortunately, he would not be there to champion such ideas, he had to leave it to those he left in charge.

Ruda collapsed to the ground immediately, resting on her side and panting as if she had run out of air. She couldn't feel her legs at all, her claws ached and her shoulders were numb.

Chloe was a bit better but her shoulders were numb, she was still able to barely stand because she had not been using her legs to travel. Still, she had to lie down to offset the numbing feeling she was having over her back.

Kael turned around to see their resting forms. It was so bad that both of them had momentarily forgotten the bad blood between them and were lying close to each other.

Chloe's wings were sprawled on the sand, unfolded. She had to keep it like this to minimize the aches in her joints.

That Kael wasn't feeling tired would be a lie, he just refused to react to his exhaustion. He stood there gazing at the two lionesses with a disciplined gaze.

After more than thirty minutes had passed, Kael could see a faint glow coming from the distance behind the tall trees.

The glow was getting brighter, being easily spotted under the darkening atmosphere. The brighter it got, the clearer it became.

A surge of heat swept forward as the fireball who was none other than Eidel burst out from the forest. She tried to stop but her momentum was too much, she slid against the sand, splashing grains of sand everywhere.

Some pieces of sand directly melted into glass shards, creating cracking sounds. Eidel didn't stop moving as she went past the shore and into the water.

The sound of water boiling and being converted into steam resounded.

Eidel stepped out of the water, drenched and lacking the usual flames on her body. Her fiery red fur was soaked and she didn't even have the energy to rekindle her flames anymore.

She collapsed to the ground, like the others, and closed her eyes, instantly deciding to take a nap.

Kael sighed as he went over and laid down beside Eidel. He gazed into the approaching night sky, thinking of his next move.

He had reached the beach, but now he had to find two things; the magic shuttle and the Paradise Beach.

He didn't even know where to start looking for the magic shuttle, Xu Ying and Isaiah could be anywhere at the moment.
