Reborn in Type-Moon, My Sister is Aoko Aozaki

Chapter 79: Volume 1: Chapter 80 - Dead Apostle

"Sister Touko!"

The timely call from behind him pulled Aozaki Touko's consciousness back to reality. When she came to her senses, she realized that in that brief moment, she had been completely captured by fear.

A slight, lingering numbness still tingled at her fingertips, and her body felt sluggish, slightly difficult to move. Touko took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down. The cold expression she maintained on her pretty face was slightly strained as she asked.

"You're not a magus, are you?"

After all, the feeling just now was neither the binding of a Mystic Eye nor some kind of restraining spell. It was simply the primal fear of one living being for another, like a law of nature, making it difficult to resist.

However, the man still did not answer her question, instead glancing with some surprise at the boy being shielded behind the girl.

"I heard that the Aozaki family of this generation seems to be all female. I didn't expect there to be an exception. But to be completely unaffected by that situation just now, the child behind you is perhaps more suited to inherit True Magic than you are, O 'Egg of a Magician'."

There was no mockery in his tone, as if he were simply stating a fact. The man slowly stood up, his gaze fixed on Aozaki Touko.

And at that moment, that feeling of being about to be preyed upon surfaced from the bottom of her heart again. Touko instinctively moved back an inch, her Magic Circuits secretly activating as her brain subconsciously began to calculate countermeasures and a means of escape.

As for how the man was able to state her identity so easily, she was not surprised at all.

Ever since her grandfather had begun to raise her as a Magician, countless magi had come to visit her specifically. And some basic information about her had likely long since been priced and sold freely in the world of magecraft.

With just a little attention and a few tricks, it was natural that one could learn some things about her.

"Rest assured, my purpose in coming here is not to make an enemy of a Magician, but merely to search for a person in this area. But if I were to simply make such a request, that Magician would probably not believe me so easily. In that case, I'll just have to have his heir stay with me for a while to restrain his actions."

Noticing the girl's subtle movements, the man did not stop her. It should be said that in his eyes, that level of resistance was not even worth paying attention to.

"So, you intend to make me a captive? I'm afraid I have to apologize then. That 'monster-like' old man of mine won't care about this level of threat. And are you sure that you won't be troubled by that person afterward?"

Warning him with her words, though not expecting to make the man back down with just this, Touko was just trying to buy a little time to create an opportunity to escape.

To be honest, just now, she had finally gotten some clues as to the identity of the man before her.

To be able to make someone feel like "prey" with just one's own presence, without relying on any other means... it was likely only a Dead Apostle, one who stands in opposition to humanity, could do that.

But why would a Dead Apostle come here? Was he really not afraid of the reputation of a True Magician at all?

Doubts flashed through her mind, but Touko had no time to ponder this question now, because opposite her, the man's face had taken on a rigid expression, as if he no longer wanted to waste his breath. He spoke.

"Admittedly, there is some truth to what you say. But compared to my objective, all of that is unimportant. Besides, how can one know the conclusion without trying? As long as I succeed in the end, even a Magician will no longer be a threat."

As his voice fell, the pure black-as-ink overcoat the man was wearing suddenly began to roil and churn strangely, as if some kind of creature were swimming and moving within his body.

And in the next second, a ferocious, black-furred, red-eyed hound was birthed from his chest. The moment it landed, it charged wildly toward where Touko and Aozaki Rin were!

—A familiar? This is bad!

She had wanted to stall for more time, but who would have known that their entire exchange had taken less than three minutes?

Estimating that there were only two seconds left before the monstrous hound reached her, Touko immediately abandoned her original plan. She raised her hand and fired a simple Gandr shot at the hound, while her body instinctively tried to push the boy she was shielding to a safer position on the other side.

But to her surprise, when she pushed out, she only felt air. Touko's body couldn't help but stumble, a dazed look on her face. Before she could even turn her head to see why the boy was no longer behind her, the highly-dense magic bullet she had fired was nimbly dodged by the hound, which had leaped into the air.

And that monstrous hound opened its stinking, massive maw and lunged at her!

But at that very same moment, a small, dark shadow also flew over her head.

From the moment the man had begun to reek of blood, Aozaki Rin had felt his intuition continuously sending him signals of danger.

And the moment that monstrous hound had appeared, he had also subconsciously recalled the skills he had honed in his dream, and his body had moved on instinct.

With a light leap, he was already nearly touching the ceiling of the train car. Aozaki Rin kicked off the train wall behind him, his body shooting out like a projectile. Even though he could only see the rough outline of the monstrous hound, his fist still struck its head without any error.

—CRACK!

It was like a clod of mud being shattered by an external great force.

One moment, the hound had a ferocious and savage appearance. The next, under the boy's fist, its head immediately caved in, its body exploded, and it instantly turned into a splash of black sludge that splattered across the train car window.

As if not expecting that he had actually done it, Aozaki Rin froze for a moment after landing. But he immediately realized that the combat experience that overly realistic dream had given him was not fake.

Not pausing to think about what that meant right now, the boy shielded the girl behind him, his unfocused eyes behind his glasses looking at the man opposite them, as if he knew that the other party likely had a next move.

"Rin?"

So surprised by the scene before her that she couldn't help but let out a sound, Touko looked at the boy in disbelief, as if doubting whether this person was really the gentle and cute little brother she knew.

After all, although the boy had been adopted by the Aozaki family as an infant, he himself had never received any training related to magecraft, nor had he deliberately trained his body.

So, how did he do that?

For a moment, feeling that there was a new, unknown side to the boy, Touko's heart felt a flicker of anxiety.

However, this was clearly not the time to ponder this question, because the splash of black sludge that the boy had scattered was now, as if it had a life of its own, slowly writhing and returning to the man's body.

"Interesting. To be able to do that with just physical ability. Don't tell me you're an Executor trained by the Church?"

Aside from his initial surprise, the man immediately showed a look of slight interest, but this emotion was fleeting. He quickly suppressed his curiosity, and his body once again began to writhe and multiply as he chuckled lightly.

"But the answer isn't important. If one isn't enough, then I'll just increase the number."

As if stating a self-evident truth, the moment his words fell, three monstrous hounds leaped out from his body, roaring!
