Chapter 2: The Keeper's Revelation
As I slithered through the dense underbrush of the eerie forest, I couldn't shake the disorienting sense of displacement that gripped me. Memories of my former life flickered at the edges of my consciousness, but they were like distant echoes, fading with each passing moment. In their place was a primal instinct, a driving force urging me forward into the unknown. Hunger pushed my new body forward. As I moved the instincts of this new body of mine grew helping and teaching me as more of myself was lost due to the limitations of this body.
I felt even weaker now than when I was starving to death in the ruins of? I can't even remember the name of the home where I was born and raised. My memories seem so foggy, so hard to remember things except for all the pain and hunger, everything else is dull and muted like it was never mine. I don't like this at all.
And now that I think about it my vision is so much worse than before. The only things I can see are the changes of light and some blurry movement. Though I can feel my surroundings through the vibrations, and the temperature, there seems to be something more like a faint smell in the air. Right now everything is cold and the vibrations seem to be something even smaller than me but the vibrations feel like it is deep under me.
I was still getting used to my new body when a voice sounded in my soul. I could not hear it only feel the words with my entire being. I could tell that it was stronger than the monster who made me into this thing.
"Who in the void is messing with the nonsentient lower life forms? Omnifex come here someone has done something in Prime 2." An unknown voice said as he was in anger.
"Why did you scream across the universe do you realize just how much danger you put all the worlds in this plane in, which by the way isn't yours, they are under the control of your father now leave and let me read the codex logs for the system here or do I need to call him here." The second voice was annoyed.
"How dare you talk to me like that do you know what I can do to you." the first voice was enraged " I could kill right here and now and you could do nothing." As the first voice spoke everything seemed to get a lot hotter fast. I couldn't withstand the heat and started to feel like I was burning alive.
"Fool you are burning the worlds. Keep it up and not only will I call your father but I will also call upon the void goddess boy. And know this I can easily kill you and nobody can do anything about it." the second yelled. As the second one said the heat disappeared and the first voice vanished I could no longer feel its pressure on me.
"Damn fool he almost destroyed this new plane. now where are my manners young one? Greetings, Leon. I am Omnifex, the embodiment of cosmic knowledge and celestial wisdom, the keeper of evolution, and the one who maintains the system. Let us see why you are inside this body, hm this shouldn't be possible that realm has no magic or demons walking the earth anymore after the accords. I will have to contact the god of creation there and tell them that... never mind it left that realm. So I will just remind them to take a look at the barrier.' Omnifex started to ramble on about different things losing track of what was going on just like Father would when he would start talking about work or research.
"Oops, sorry there little Leon. I've taken a look at what happened when you were changed. I regret to inform you that I cannot reverse your transformation back to a human or send you back, especially since you've made a pact with a demon. That pact is soul-binding; attempting to reverse it would result in your demise. And I refuse to end the life of such a special boy as yourself.
It seems you possess the potential to alter fate, but, unfortunately, you've been reincarnated into a body lacking a system or evolutionary capabilities. Such creatures typically fall below the threshold for receiving a system, like insects that maintain the cycle of life in essential ways. G-rank creatures are the lowest eligible for a system, while you, unfortunately, rank at the H-rank, the absolute lowest. Other gods would have disposed of you already, not wishing to harbor a being bound by a pact.
I cannot break the rules entirely, but I can offer temporary access to the system for two years. Given your inability to harm others due to your weakness, I'll modify the system to allow you to gain experience through alternative means. Once you've fully integrated with the system, it will revert to its original program.
I must depart now, concealing your pact from other gods as it poses no threat to their creations or domains. I wish you the best of luck, kid." Omnifex sighed but pressed on, his tone carrying both sympathy and resolve.
I could do nothing but listen and wait as the pain started to rack my new body causing me to pass out and leaving me to slumber.
