Reborn as the villain in the game

Chapter 28: When the Rose Wilts.

- After I saw that, I stood there frozen, the sight burning into my mind's eye.

- A silent film played on repeat in the space between my thoughts and the world, each frame a question mark.

- Did something happen between them? The air, once a simple medium for breathing, now felt thick with unspoken possibilities and the weight of a betrayal that wasn't mine to claim, yet felt entirely so.

- My mind, a frantic pinball machine of "what ifs," was abruptly halted as she began to walk towards me.

- With each step, the distance between us evaporated, and the illusion of my invisibility shattered in a single, painful moment.

- I had wanted to slip away, to melt into the scenery and pretend I hadn't seen a thing.

- It was a familiar impulse, one I had honed over years of quiet observation and deliberate detachment.

- But her eyes—sharp, knowing, and terribly beautiful—found mine and held them in a spotlight I had no hope of escaping.

- It wasn't a confrontational gaze, but something far more unnerving.

- As I looked at her, a gasp escaped my lips, a sound that was more of a stunned admission than a question.

- It was the sound of a dam breaking, My voice, when it came, was shaky and unfamiliar, echoing the raw shock that coursed through me.

- I didn't say it to be cruel; I said it because the words felt ripped from my very soul, a desperate defense mechanism against a world that had suddenly tilted on its axis.

- "You'll do that to the only person who was nice to you your whole life," I heard myself say, the words hanging in the tense silence between us like a physical weight.

- It wasn't a question; it was an accusation, a raw and painful expression of a truth I had only just realized I knew.

- The shock of that moment had stripped away all pretense, leaving only the brutal honesty of what I had just witnessed.

- She didn't respond with anger or a fiery retort. Instead, a profound sadness washed over her face, and tears welled up in her eyes.

- I watched, helpless. She simply turned and walked away, her shoulders slumped in defeat.

- In that moment, I didn't think about her pain. My world had narrowed to the bewildered figure of Allen, who stood a few feet away, dumbfounded, staring at the ground.

- I didn't think he had anticipated any of this, and I couldn't blame him.

- I didn't talk to him. I just walked past him and went straight to my room, eager for the silence. My training routine had been grueling, and I was exhausted.

- I needed to get some rest, to clear my mind, and to hopefully make sense of the devastating words I had just said.

- My rest was unproductive. My mind was consumed by the words I had directed at Rose and the observable impact they had on her.

- The reaction was a stark, undeniable reality that demanded my full attention and immediate re-evaluation. The gravity of the situation was not lost on me.

- This led to a fundamental reassessment of the narrative I had established.

- Rose and Allen were not merely characters; they were designed to be a central pairing, destined for a conflict that was to define their story.

- That conflict, however, never materialized. My initial premise—the inevitability of their shared struggle—has been proven false.

- The planned story of their ultimate confrontation is no longer a viable path.

- I attempted to identify any alternative routes for the narrative in my memories using magic.

- But all possibilities were explored with a degree of thoroughness, but each line of inquiry led to the same definitive conclusion: she no longer desires a future with him.

- This development fundamentally invalidates the core conflict I had planned and leaves the central story arc unresolved.

- This raises a critical question regarding the remainder of the plot. Without the central relationship, the supporting characters' functions become untenable. The helper of the defender and the companion of the future hero were contingent on the primary plotline.

- Their roles were defined by a dynamic that no longer exists, leaving their purpose and eventual destinies in a state of uncertainty.

- My analysis of the situation yields no clear path forward. There is no discernible way for the story to progress from this point. All potential routes have been investigated, and none contain a logical or compelling conflict to drive the plot.

- The narrative is, for all intents and purposes, at a complete standstill.

- Until I thought about changing the whole story and make it my way, because the hero is coward, the heroine doesn't want to be near him.

- And he is not friends with all his party members, a lot of things is wrong with him.

- So I decided to eventually change it, help the heroine and I may even help in the demon emperor exterminating fights.

- Thus I decided, I will fix anything and make a route that is not in the game, but first I will go and apologise to the most important person Rose.

- It was early night-time, so I went to the girls dormitory and asked their dormitory director.

- " Can I meet Rose Clinton, I want to tell her something." Leon.

- " Sorry to tell you this, but she still didn't come back to her room, she is still outside." Director.

- I thanked him and went back to search her, at first I kind of panicked and thought that she got kidnapped but after I used search magic I found her at the balcony of the school building.

- I went there nervous and saw her standing there, I got close to her and saw something that I regret doing for the rest of my life.

- I saw Rose, the ever smilling golden eyed girl crying, in that instant moment I decided, I will do anything to change the story and make her smile forever.
