Rebirth, Seduce My Ex-husband

Chapter 4: Lost All Right

Vanessa spoke up, her voice shaky.

"I-I'm sorry..."

Tears streamed down her face as she broke down, but Rowen just sat there, staring at the woman who had shattered his heart into pieces.

"I-I'm so sorry, Rowen… Sorry for everything I've done to you. For always misunderstanding and mistreating you… you and T-Tar—"

Bang!

Rowen slammed his fist on the desk.

"Don't say her name!" he shouted, his eyes burning with anger behind his glasses.

Standing up, he walked over to Vanessa, pressing his hands hard against the chair she was sitting in.

"Let me make this clear," he said hoarsely. "Tara is my daughter. You lost all rights to her the moment you signed those divorce papers. So don't you dare say her name again… do you understand?"

Vanessa grabbed his hands, her voice desperate.

"I'm really sorry for everything. Please forgive me… I want to come back, please..."

Rowen let out a bitter laugh, a smirk forming on his lips.

"Is this your new plan?"

"Huh?"

"I see it now. Erin must have put you up to this, right? You can't bring me down if you're not close to me, so you're trying to come back?" His laugh was hollow, pain evident in his eyes.

Vanessa's heart ached. She never realized just how much she had broken him.

Before she knew it, her hand was on his cheek—her first time touching him willingly, with real emotion. And for Rowen, it was the first time feeling the warmth of her touch.

Both of them froze for a moment, processing what had just happened.

Suddenly, Rowen stepped back, pushing the chair away.

"George!" he called out.

His assistant entered the room immediately.

"Yes, Master?"

"Escort Miss Owen home."

George nodded. "This way, Miss."

Vanessa stood up, hesitating for a second before looking at Rowen's broad back.

"I won't give up until you forgive me, Rowen. I promise."

With that, she followed George out of the office.

As the car drove away from the company, Rowen sat down and placed a hand on his cheek—the same cheek Vanessa had just touched.

"What is wrong with you, Rowen? Why do you still let her affect you?" he muttered before slamming his fist against the table, causing his knuckles to bleed slightly.

At the Owen Mansion

Less than an hour later, they arrived at the mansion.

George opened the car door for Vanessa.

"I'll take my leave now, Miss," he said with a slight bow, but Vanessa stopped him.

"Mr. George?"

"Yes, Miss?"

"What's Rowen's schedule like this week?" Her voice was soft, her body frail. She clutched the thin shawl around her, looking weak and pitiful.

George had never seen this side of her before. For the first time, she looked… innocent and fragile.

"P-please tell me—" She coughed lightly.

George quickly handed her his handkerchief.

"You need a warm bath, Miss. Please head inside before you catch a cold. As for the boss, he'll be at the company all week. I hope that answers your question."

With another bow, George turned and left.

Vanessa sighed before heading into the mansion.

It was late, so she expected everyone to be asleep. But to her surprise, her mother, Linda, was still awake, waiting for her.

"You finally decided to come home," Linda said, walking toward her with a stern look.

Vanessa braced herself for another slap, but instead, her mother pulled her into a hug.

"M-Mom?"

Linda pulled back. "What? Can't a mother hug her daughter?" She sighed. "I'm sorry I hit you earlier. I was just angry. I thought you had ended things with Rowen for good. But since he sent George to drop you off, I guess you two are still on good terms."

She smiled warmly and took Vanessa's hands, guiding her to sit down.

"You know how important the Quinn family is to us," she continued. "Rowen has always gotten us the best business deals and helped our company grow. Without him, I don't know what will happen." She sighed again.

"Just be a good wife and don't cause any trouble, okay?" Linda stroked Vanessa's hair gently, her attitude completely different from that morning.

The Next Few Days

Vanessa kept visiting Owen Enterprises. But this time, she dressed properly and stayed until late at night.

Still, Rowen refused to see her.

Every time, he sent George to take her home.

This happened for a whole week.

Finally, she had enough.

If she couldn't meet him this way, she would have to find another way.

But first, she had to see her daughter—Tara.
