Rebirth, Seduce My Ex-husband

Chapter 18: She Can't Seduce Me!

Vanessa and Tara were escorted into the company as the guards led them into Rowen's office.

Upon entering, Vanessa was greeted by bright light and the fresh scent of roses.

She was surprised. It was the first time she had ever seen Rowen's office so warm and inviting. Usually, it was dark and cold, but today, it looked completely different.

"Papa!"

Tara beamed as she ran toward Rowen, hugging his legs. He bent down and embraced her softly.

"My darling, how are you today?" he asked, his gaze fixed on her.

"My day has been great, Papa! Mama came to visit and taught Aunt Rachel a lesson. Then she took me to her pretty house and fed me. Her food is so delicious, Papa! You have to try it."

The little girl excitedly narrated, and Rowen simply smiled and nodded.

As he stood up, his eyes fell on Vanessa. She was wearing the yellow dress he had sent her. She looked different.

Now that he thought about it, Tara was also dressed in yellow, and their outfits had similar designs. It seemed Rowen had intended for the mother and daughter to match.

An awkward silence filled the room as the two just stared at each other, neither willing to speak first.

Sensing the tension, Tara turned to George, who stood near the door like a statue.

"Uncle Georgie! I want to see the fountain. Please take me there," she said, pouting slightly.

Rowen gave a small nod, and George picked Tara up, carrying her out of the office.

George had to admit this little girl was as mischievous and smart as her mother.

Now alone, Vanessa cleared her throat to break the silence.

Rowen turned and took his seat, while Vanessa sat across from him.

Finally, he spoke. "What brings you here?"

"Nothing much… I didn't want to come, but Tara insisted I bring you some food. She said you'd love it."

"Food?" Rowen gulped. He hadn't eaten all day.

After tasting Vanessa's cooking yesterday, everything else had seemed bland. So he had gone without food just his usual coffee, but even that didn't compare to the one she made.

"Hm… But if you don't want it, I can take it back home. I wouldn't want to disturb you."

Hearing that, Rowen frowned. He had to protect his pride.

"If you don't want to give it to me, take it back. I'm not hungry."

At that moment, his stomach growled loudly, betraying him.

Vanessa shook her head slightly and opened the lunchbox she had brought. She scooped a spoonful of rice, then, to Rowen's surprise, placed it into his mouth.

"Since you're busy, I'll just have to feed you. I promised Tara you'd eat, and besides, I don't like wasting food… So you'll have to eat it."

With that, she lifted another spoonful to his lips. To her surprise, Rowen didn't resist. He simply opened his mouth each time she brought the spoon close.

He was like a baby, and she was like his mother. It was… cute.

Just then, a question popped on Vanessa's head, "By the way, your office seems more welcoming today.. what's the occasion?"

Hearing that, Rowen wanted to ignore but he couldn't afford to anger her since she was feeding him so he just answered.

"Tara is afraid of the dark so I have to make the office brighter so she won't get scared. You would have known that if you were a good mother."

His last statement was harsh but Vanessa just kept quiet. He was right anyway, there was indeed a lot of things she didn't know about her daughter.

When the meal was finished, Vanessa stood up, grabbed a napkin, and gently wiped his lips. Their eyes met.

Rowen swallowed hard.

She was so close that he could smell her sweet scent of lemon and ice.

Their faces were just inches apart. One small push, and their lips would touch.

But before anything could happen, the door flung open.

Rachel walked in, her face bright with excitement until she saw Vanessa.

"You!"

Her expression darkened instantly.

"What the hell are you two doing?!" she shouted before charging toward Vanessa and shoving her hard.

Vanessa nearly fell, but Rowen caught her just in time, his hands gripping her waist gently.

That only made Rachel angrier.

"Rowen, this bitch is trying to seduce you! How dare she step foot into your company?! She-"

"Enough!" Rowen's sharp voice cut through the air, making Rachel flinch.

"If anyone should be asked that question, it's you. What the hell are you doing here?"

Rachel's eyes filled with tears.

"I am your fiancée! I have every right to be here! But her? She's your ex-wife! Why is she still allowed in this company? It doesn't make any sense!" Rachel shrieked, grabbing Vanessa's wrist.

"You! I'll show everyone how disgusting you are, trying to seduce another woman's man"

Before she could do anything, Rowen pulled Vanessa away and pushed Rachel aside.

"Vanessa isn't trying to seduce me," he said coldly. "And even if she was, it wouldn't work. Whatever feelings I had for her are gone. She means nothing to me. Other than being Tara's mother, she has no place in my life so don't get any stupid ideas."

Rachel froze as a slight happiness formed in her heart

Upon hearing that Vanessa's fingers slowly slipped from Rowen's grip. His words… stung.

Packing up her things, she turned to leave.

"I'll take my leave now. Goodbye."

And just like that, she walked away, leaving Rowen standing there speechless, his expression unreadable.

Rachel, feeling victorious, smirked as she followed behind.

"Just wait and see, Vanessa," she whispered to herself. "I'll never let you have Rowen. Never."
