Chapter 17: What About Papa? 3
Soon, the mother and daughter duo left the Quinn mansion and headed straight to Vanessa's apartment.
Upon entering, Tara looked around in amazement. This was her first time visiting her mother's home, and it was absolutely beautiful.
Vanessa had a love for the color red, so her apartment was decorated in a mix of red and white with touches of gold. It was beautifully designed, made just for her.
"Your house is so beautiful, Mama!" Tara complimented, making Vanessa blush.
"You think so? Don't worry, from now on, Mama will bring you here all the time... whenever your father agrees, that is."
Laughing, she walked into the kitchen, and Tara followed behind her like a little chick.
"Are you hungry, sweetie? You probably haven't eaten yet. Why don't you go and pick a movie for us to watch while I make breakfast? How about that?"
Hearing this, Tara's eyes lit up with excitement. She nodded eagerly and ran to the living room.
After scrolling through a bunch of movies, she finally found one of her favorites. It happened to be a short drama that Vanessa had starred in years ago.
Back then, Vanessa was just a rookie actress, gaining fame through small drama projects before landing roles in bigger productions. This particular drama was filmed when Tara was just two years old.
In less than 30 minutes, Vanessa finished cooking, and the two of them sat together, eating and watching the movie in bliss.
The moment Tara took a bite of her mother's food, her eyes welled up with tears. Vanessa noticed immediately and panicked.
"What's wrong, honey? Is it too spicy? Here, have some water," Vanessa said, quickly handing her a glass.
But Tara shook her head. "It's not spicy, Mama... i-it's just that this is my first time tasting Mommy's food, and it's so, so delicious..."
Saying that, she burst into tears, unable to hold it in anymore. Seeing this, Vanessa's eyes also filled with tears, and she hugged her daughter tightly.
"I'm so sorry, Tara. Mama has been horrible to you since you were a baby… I hope you can forgive me for everything. I promise to love and cherish you for the rest of my days," Vanessa vowed.
"Really, Mama?"
Vanessa nodded. "Yes, baby. I'll cook for you, do your hair, read bedtime stories, and protect you. No one absolutely no one will ever hurt you again. I promise."
"I love you so much," Tara sobbed as she hugged Vanessa tightly.
After their heartfelt moment, they continued their meal, enjoying the movie. When they finished, Tara smiled in satisfaction.
"Thanks for the meal, Mama. I loved it."
"I'm happy you did, baby," Vanessa said, patting her head.
"But Mama, what about Papa?" A thought suddenly crossed Tara's mind.
"Huh? What about him?" Vanessa asked, confused.
"Well… Papa would surely want to eat the food you made. Why don't we take some to him?" Tara suggested with a bright smile.
Vanessa hesitated. She was sure Rowen would be angry if she showed up at his office again.
"Well… your father is busy at work right now. I don't think he wants to be disturbed. My cooking isn't that great anyway," she said, trying to refuse.
"Don't say that, Mama! Your cooking is the best! I'm sure Papa would love to taste it. Please, Mama? Please?"
Tara pleaded, and Vanessa sighed. She just couldn't say no to her little angel.
"Alright then. After we clean up, I'll pack some food for your Papa, and we'll go deliver it to him. What do you think?"
"Yes, Mama! Thank you!"
At Quinn Enterprise
Once they were done tidying up, Vanessa and Tara got ready and drove straight to Quinn Enterprise.
Upon arriving, Vanessa took out her phone and dialed George's number to inform him of their arrival. She knew the guards had strict orders not to let her in under any circumstances, and since none of them knew Tara, they wouldn't let her in either without Rowen's permission.
Unfortunately, George's phone was switched off. He must have been busy, as he always answered his calls.
Sighing, Vanessa realized she had no other choice but to call Rowen directly.
Meanwhile…
Inside a large meeting room, a group of men and women sat in complete silence. Dressed in formal business attire, none of them dared to make a sound.
The room was so quiet that even the drop of a pin could be heard. After all, no one wanted to anger Rowen Quinn the richest man in Graceland.
Rowen was reviewing a file when his phone suddenly rang, drawing everyone's attention.
Who dared to call and interrupt him during a meeting? Whoever it was… they were in trouble.
When Rowen glanced at the caller ID, his brows twitched slightly. He hesitated for a moment before answering the call.
Before he could say anything, Vanessa's calm and melodious voice came through the line.
"Mr. Quinn, I'm outside your building with Tara… and a little delivery package," she said with a playful laugh before quickly hanging up, not giving him a chance to respond.
Rowen immediately closed the file and stood up.
"The meeting is adjourned. Everyone may leave," he said, walking out with George following behind him.
"George, Vanessa and Tara are here. Go bring them in."
He didn't know why she was there, but one thing was certain he was starving, and if Vanessa had brought food, he wasn't about to refuse it.
