Rebirth of the Super Battleship

Chapter 322: Home One

The successful construction of the China meant that Xiao Yu's technology analysis work had entered its final stage. The technology from the Molian Civilization had been almost fully digested. If he wanted to advance further, he would have to conduct his own painstaking research, or once again plunder other advanced civilizations.

But raiding other advanced civilizations was simply too dangerous. When he had attacked the Molian Civilization, if not for the protection of the Specter elder and the assistance of his Specter companion, Xiao Yu might well have died. That harrowing experience was enough for a lifetime, he absolutely did not wish for it to happen again.

Yet if he relied solely on himself to research, progress in technology was agonizingly slow. Even with nearly forty billion intelligent beings contributing, it would still be like this.

Even with Xiao Yu's formidable computational power, when faced with the countless branches of technology that had emerged at this stage, he often felt daunted. Let alone the other scientists.

And the trouble was, every one of these branches was vital, none could be neglected.

For example, during the construction of the Nation-Class ships, a minor issue had been discovered, because the ships' mass was so immense, the vessels themselves could distort space to some extent, which could interfere with the curvature drive's operation.

Compared to other challenges, this might seem like the smallest of problems, but if left unsolved, it could cause a Nation-Class ship to be torn apart by temporal and spatial turbulence.

"The era when a single genius scientist could drive the technological progress of an entire civilization…has truly passed forever." Xiao Yu reflected with some regret.

The higher the technological level, the harder it became to make any further progress. This was a fact with clear examples.

One piece of data illustrated this well, when the Sweeper Civilization first acquired the Neutron War Star, they had fought a cataclysmic war with the Guardian Civilization. It was that very battle that established the Sweepers' unparalleled dominance.

That war had taken place more than seventy million years ago.

In seventy million years, they still had not advanced from Level 6 to Level 7 Civilization. Although there were certainly other obstacles involved, otherwise the existence of Taihao Civilizations would be inexplicable, Xiao Yu believed that the immense difficulty of technological advancement at the highest levels was certainly one major factor.

"The birth of the China is just a beginning. In the future, there will be the Asia, a Continent-Class ship, and eventually the Earth, a Planet-Class ship… Someday, my flagship will be no less than the Radiance of the Guardian Civilization, or the Neutron War Star of the Sweeper Civilization."

Watching the China slowly glide out of the massive shipyard, preparing for its first test flight, Xiao Yu felt full of confidence.

The defensive capability of the Four-Dimensional Shield was entirely determined by the energy supply. A Nation-Class ship could provide far more energy, making its protection vastly more formidable.

Inside the Four-Dimensional Shield were three additional layers Xiao Yu had developed himself: the Tachyon Shield, the Gravitational Shield, and the Energy Shield. Together with the Four-Dimensional Shield, they locked the China securely within their protection.

The supporting escort fleet was also complete, apart from the Province-Class ships, all the City-Class, County-Class, Town-Class, and Village-Class vessels had been built, totaling around one hundred thousand ships.

Of these, there were about two thousand City-Class ships and more than eight thousand County-Class ships. This hundred-thousand-ship fleet, together with the thirty Province-Class ships still under construction, would form the China's full Nation-Class battle group.

In the vastness of space, with the black starfield as backdrop, a colossal butterfly-shaped vessel hovered in silence. Even without any movement, it emanated an unmistakable aura of solemn, lethal power.

Through superluminal communication technology, every detail about the China was transmitted into Xiao Yu's mind, every component's status, every sector's coordination. All the data was personally analyzed by Xiao Yu himself.

The first test flight took five days. In the end, the China successfully passed Xiao Yu's inspection.

"So…it's time to move." Xiao Yu felt a surge of excitement in his heart.

Every relocation had marked an upgrade for him, from starting out with a County-Class flagship, to now possessing a Nation-Class flagship. The ships grew ever larger, their performance ever more impressive, and their computational power ever greater.

Xiao Yu maneuvered the Beijing slowly toward the China. Once a physical data channel had been established between the two ships, and under the tight protection of over a hundred thousand vessels, he transferred himself instantly from the Beijing into the China.

After relocating his main consciousness, the next step was copying all data. This process would take some time, it could not be completed quickly. Naturally, Xiao Yu didn't remain idle. During this period, he began moving everything previously stored aboard the Beijing, such as the 90s Model Spaceship, the corpse of that girl, various biological specimens, and so on, over to the China.

By the time all this was finished, the data copying was complete as well. The Beijing would now be melted down and reforged, all useful materials reclaimed, and a new Beijing built in its place.

The new Beijing would be about the same mass and size as the old one, but because it would incorporate newer technologies, its overall performance would improve dramatically.

It wasn't only the Beijing, all the other large ships would undergo the same process. Of course, the smaller Village-Class ships didn't require such extensive treatment, since their construction materials didn't include Alien Beast flesh and therefore had no recycling value. Rather than bothering to reclaim them, it would be simpler to extract fresh raw materials and build anew.

"My computational power has increased by twenty-two times. That means I can now allocate much more capacity to construction tasks. Also, with the experience of building the first Nation-Class ship, constructing the next ones will be much easier. Very well, let's begin construction!"

Xiao Yu issued the command, filled with confidence. Under his control, more engineering robots were produced. On the moon, throughout the asteroid belt, and on the gas giant's moons, these robots built more smelting bases and forging workshops. Huge quantities of resources were mined and turned into the instruments of Xiao Yu's will.

Another colossal shipyard was constructed. This shipyard would be dedicated to building residential ships. Residential vessels were far simpler than combat vessels, and so, after Xiao Yu had been in this star system for about 130 years, the first residential Nation-Class ship was completed.

Residential ships did not receive formal names. Xiao Yu simply gave this one a straightforward designation: Home One. The residential Nation-Class ships to be built afterward would be numbered sequentially: Home Two, Home Three, and so on.

Home One was even larger in size, far bigger than the China, though its mass was much less. The reason was simple, to maintain adequate combat capability, a warship's interior had to be built extremely dense, whereas a residential ship's interior needed to be as open as possible to maximize capacity for inhabitants.

Home One contained fully equipped entertainment facilities, living spaces, and commercial districts. It even had artificial forests, lakes, and other landscapes. In fact, beings living inside Home One would never realize they were on a ship at all. Everything inside was made so realistic, and the internal space was so vast.

The total length of Home One reached over fifty kilometers, with a width of fifteen kilometers and a height of ten kilometers. It was divided into one hundred levels. A rough calculation put the total internal floor area at more than seventy thousand square kilometers.

Adding in the towering buildings that effectively increased the number of inhabitants per unit area, Xiao Yu estimated that Home One could easily house about eight hundred million people, with a maximum capacity of around one billion.

It had massive reserves of energy, fully stocked food production plants, and ample supplies to allow everyone aboard to live comfortably for over a century.

Inside was an atmosphere circulation system fully controlled by Xiao Yu. There was wind, rain, and all kinds of varied terrain. When one looked up, one would see a blue sky. There was a sun with no trace of artificial construction, a natural day-night cycle, and the four seasons revolving in endless succession.

Xiao Yu believed the Dwarf Race would surely love this place.

"I should select a group of Dwarves to live here first as a trial," Xiao Yu thought. "But this requires a bit of strategy, to fully dispel their attachment to their homeland and make them see living on the ship as a high honor. Yes…that's what I'll do."

He quickly devised a plan.

One day later, every media outlet on the planet was flooded with the same message.

"That's right! This is paradise!"

"This is the realm of the Great True God! Here, the distance to the Great True God is the shortest!"

"This is the ultimate manifestation of the Great True God's highest technology!"

Under Xiao Yu's manipulation, countless rousing slogans were broadcast, accompanied by numerous photos of Home One's interior. These pictures were stunningly beautiful, conveying a sense of an otherworldly utopia that was immensely appealing.

"To live aboard the Home One is the highest honor a member of the Dwarf Race can attain! One month from now, the Great True God will hold a grand science competition to comprehensively assess our scientific knowledge. Those who rank in the global top ten million will earn the right to move into Home One! Complete AI service systems, convenient transportation, beautiful living environments, every wonderful thing awaits us there!"
