Chapter 40: This Document Is Incredible!
Clap clap clap...
Hao Zhengzhi and Lü Fengnian took the lead in applauding, and the rest quickly followed with warm applause.
There's actually a shortcut to earning others' respect—surpass them in their area of expertise!
As the applause slowly faded, Hao Zhengzhi winked at Lü Fengnian. "Director Lü, you're not busy today, right?"
Lü Fengnian understood immediately. "Not busy, not at all. I've got plenty of time."
"Li Tang, it's still early, and you can see that everyone was completely engrossed by your explanation. Why don't you speak a bit more to meet their expectations?"
Hao Zhengzhi even turned to the group of researchers under him and called out, "Do you all want to hear more from Li Tang?"
"Yes!"
"He makes so much sense!"
"I think what Teacher Li mentioned earlier, about adding an extra ore-washing process—we've all overlooked that. Now that he pointed it out, it's like a revelation. The truth was right in front of us this whole time, and we just didn't see it."
These highly educated and technically proficient professionals were showing a strong thirst for knowledge.
No wonder they were in scientific research—this curiosity for the unknown, the hunger for new knowledge, it wasn't something ordinary people could understand.
Facing their enthusiasm, Li Tang stood calmly with a smile, hands at his sides. "Actually, I prepared a document that contains many detailed and accessible insights into bioleaching technology. If everyone's interested, I can hand it over next. I only printed one copy, but you can pass it around, or print more to distribute. If it can serve as a spark for further ideas, then that's ideal."
He had been carrying the document the whole time during the tour, and it had just been printed in the documentation room of the Purple Metallurgy Research Institute.
No one expected that this document would prove so valuable.
Upon hearing this, Hao Zhengzhi and Lü Fengnian exchanged another glance and saw the excitement on each other's faces.
They hadn't expected Li Tang to bring such a gift on this visit.
Whether or not the information he provided was entirely accurate, for a research team groping forward in the dark, it was incredibly valuable. It might even ignite new ideas.
As for its accuracy, it could be verified with a few targeted experiments later on.
In this, they, as professionals, had no concerns.
No trickery could stand up to the test of truth.
"On behalf of all the staff here, and on behalf of Purple Mining—and even the entire domestic metallurgy industry—I want to thank you!"
Hao Zhengzhi's words were formal and grand, elevating the discussion to a level of contribution to national industry.
Just as Li Tang was about to hand over the document, Zhao Hepu's large frame pushed through the crowd and grabbed Li Tang's hand. With a bright smile, he said, "Li Tang's been talking so long, and none of you even noticed his stomach rumbling."
Hao Zhengzhi, who had been about to take the document, regretfully pulled his hand back. "President Zhao is right. It's getting late. Let's eat first. You've come from far away—it's only right that we host you properly!"
His attitude now was a stark contrast to the way he had treated Zhao Hepu and the others when they first arrived.
Turning to the researchers still in the lab, he added, "I'm afraid you'll still need to stay here and keep watch. Just hang in there. Once the project wraps up and we achieve results, I'll make sure you all get to let loose and have a good time!"
Several senior members of the research institute, along with Lü Fengnian, got into the car and led the way to the county seat.
In the car behind them, Zhao Hepu, Lu Kanqing, and Li Tang sat together.
The driver was a staff member from Purple Mining.
Unable to wait until they were out of earshot of the driver, Zhao Hepu turned to look at Li Tang and the document in his hand. "That material you're holding is extremely important."
He paused, then said sternly, "I don't agree with you offering that document to Purple Mining so freely! Before deciding to hand over something so valuable, you should have talked to me. At the very least, we should have discussed it!"
Zhao Hepu was the head of the visiting delegation.
If this were taken seriously, Li Tang's actions could be seen as insubordination—a major offense in the workplace.
Zhao Hepu looked very serious now, even angry.
But he wasn't angry because his authority was challenged. He wasn't that petty.
What upset him was that Li Tang had almost made a foolish mistake!
You can't just decide to give away a precious asset because you hit it off with someone after a few hours of chatting.
"You're still too young," he said, looking at Li Tang's face with a sigh.
Li Tang understood what Zhao Hepu was worried about. He handed the document to him. "This is only a small part of the bioleaching techniques I've compiled. I'd planned to give you all a copy for reference. But I came straight to Jian'an Province by plane, so I never had the chance to print it out for you."
Zhao Hepu took the not-so-thick document. It felt heavy in his hands. He opened it and skimmed a few pages. The densely packed text was dizzying, so he passed it to Lu Kanqing in the front passenger seat. "Lu, take a look at this."
Now that the material was in their hands, Zhao Hepu began to calm down.
As the vehicle bumped along the mountain road, Lu Kanqing flipped through the document slowly, licking his fingers to turn the pages.
After reading for a bit, the combination of the dense text and the constant shaking of the car made him dizzy. He started showing symptoms of motion sickness.
Still, he forced himself to finish reading the material. When he turned around from the front seat, the exhaustion on his face had vanished, replaced by joy.
As the technical head, he had a strong ability to judge the quality of technology.
"President Zhao!"
Zhao Hepu had dozed off from fatigue after a long day. He opened his eyes when he heard the excitement in Lu Kanqing's voice.
"What is it?"
"Li Tang's document is incredible!" Lu Kanqing's face was glowing.
"How so?" Zhao Hepu straightened up.
"This document doesn't just outline the theory behind bioleaching—it gives detailed construction steps for building a smelting plant!"
Lu Kanqing opened the first page of the document and randomly pointed to a section to read aloud: "First, crush the ore to a suitable particle size, stack the crushed ore on a PVC liner, with heap heights between 10 to 20 meters depending on the ore type… Install ventilated plastic tubing under the liner, connected to an air pump to supply oxygen to the bacteria…"
After reading just a few sections, he stared wide-eyed. "President Zhao, this document is no joke!"
