Chapter 124 - 124 Pick Any Villa
Chapter 124: Chapter 124 Pick Any Villa
The others also got out of the car holding their weapons, having been in the vehicle for so long, it was time to stretch their legs!
The fifty or so zombies were quickly dealt with; Su Jin pierced each of the zombies’ heads on the ground with vines, collecting only a dozen ordinary Crystal Cores, but this was still an unexpected gain.
“Su Jin, Su Jin, can we go in and pick any house now?” Lin Xiuyuan asked excitedly as he ran over.
Su Jin smiled, “Isn’t that pretty much the same as picking at random?”
“My God, I never thought I’d live in a villa before I died,” Yin Chengtian exclaimed, looking at the dragon-shaped fountain in the center. The fountain was truly upscale and classy.
Lu Hao walked forward and found that the villa’s black wrought-iron gate opened with just a push. This was probably because the original lock was electronic, and without power, it no longer functioned.
As soon as the gate opened, a few zombies scrambled over towards them; thanks to Mao Qiqi’s warning, before the zombies could get out of the gate, Lu Hao had killed most of them with a fireball, and the remaining few were dealt with by Yin Chengtian and Shi Jin using watermelon knives.
“The road is wide, we can drive in,” Lu Hao told the others behind him.
Su Jin agreed. Dragon Leap Villa was a complex of villas, comprising over 300 large and small villas. She had researched these online before the apocalypse, even downloading and printing out the layout of the entire villa complex. The area covered was vast, so if they walked, it would take a long time and driving would be somewhat safer.
Thus, the group got back into their vehicles, ready to drive in.
The villas here appeared to have good privacy, each one detached with a certain distance between them. Su Jin actually had a general idea in mind but was now also interested in driving around with them to look around.
It wasn’t exactly a tour. The villa complex had only been developed not long ago, and some buildings still had unfinished bare walls without tiles. Combined with the fact that no one had cleaned or cleared the area for over half a month, weeds on the roadside grew wild, some even taller than a person, and the dense weeds could hide zombies or other things, making it too late to evade.
Fortunately, they had Qiqi, so this kind of problem was practically non-existent.
“Xiao Jin, so many villas here look the same; how are we going to choose?” Aunt Huang Yunxiang asked through the walkie-talkie.
They had been walking for a while now, the place was too large, and they simply didn’t know how to choose.
“I think it’s best to choose ones with zombies inside,” Su Jin replied.
“What?”
“What? What do you mean?” Xue Wanyi was also surprised; why choose ones with zombies inside?
“If there are zombies inside, it means the owner of the house has likely turned into a zombie, and the house is likely unclaimed. By moving in, we could avoid a lot of potential future trouble,” Su Jin explained.
“Little sister, you are really smart,” Guo Yang agreed with Su Jin’s reasoning when he heard her mention choosing houses with zombies inside.
After all, this place was intended to become a safety base. If survivors from the city came looking, even if some registration information and documents could not be tracked, it could still lead to unnecessary complications.
Therefore, choosing houses that were already occupied by zombies was the safest option.
“Xiao Jin, have you already set a target?” Lu Hao asked.
“Yes, Dad, keep going on this road, and then turn right,”
While directing Su Xiangzhe, Su Jin asked Qiqi to prepare. She had her eyes on a row of terraced houses.
Generally, the villas here are categorized into detached villas, terraced houses, stacked villas, and so on. Previously, Su Jin had favored detached villas. However, she later changed her mind, finding terraced houses more suitable for them.
Though detached villas offer better privacy, the terraced houses here are special. They not only provide privacy but are also made up of several residences joined together. They contain not only separate yards but also garages and other facilities, which are more suitable for their larger group.
The car slowly made its way through the villa complex. Through the glass, they could still see zombies in some of the villa yards stretching their arms out through the fences, trying hard to crawl out, while Local Tyrant Gold snarled and barked at them. Some villas had their doors wide open, with bloodstains that had turned black, making them look desolate.
Following Su Jin’s instructions, Su Xiangzhe stopped in front of a few villas situated towards the middle.
“Qiqi, try using your spiritual power to see if there are any zombies in the houses ahead,” Su Jin said to Mao Qiqi.
Mao Qiqi nodded, looked at the villas on both sides of the road, and pointed towards a few positions to the front left. There are zombies in all three of those villas.
“How many in each?” Lu Hao asked.
“The one on the far left has two, the middle one has sixteen, and the far right one has six,” Mao Qiqi explained the situations in those three villas.
“Let’s go to the one on the far right,” Lu Hao decided immediately.
“Xiao Hao, why is that?” Mao Zhihang couldn’t help asking.
“These villas, besides being lived in by the owners, are mostly bought by investors to rent out due to their high price. They are usually rented to short-term tenants, for example, for parties, and each cluster of villas is equipped with a ‘housekeeper,’ which means the person who cleans,”
Seeing the perplexed faces of everyone in the car, Lu Hao continued, “The far-left one has only two, which might be the housekeepers of the villa. The middle one with sixteen might belong to temporary tenants having a party. The far right one, with six, is the most likely to be a family living there.”
Su Jin nodded. Hearing what Lu Hao said, it indeed seemed likely. Thus, she signaled the cars behind them, and they headed for the villa on the far right first.
This villa was one of the connected terraced villas, which did not look very large from the outside. From the outside, it had two entrances, each with a short flight of stairs leading to the main door.
People gradually got out of the cars, admiring the villa. It must have four stories, right? They wondered what it looked like inside.
“It’s locked,”
Lu Hao, who was at the front, tried the doorknob, but it wouldn’t budge.
If only they had a Metal Element Special Ability User, Su Jin sighed. It seemed they had to use “that” to open the door.
Su Jin used her Wood Element ability, a short, tender green shoot slowly extended from the palm of her hand. The power controlled the shoot, which gradually made its way into the gap beneath the door.
