Chapter 327: Up Above
From the Caster's mansion, which was located deep within Detroit, it took us just over five minutes to reach the suburbs, arrive at Romelus, and drive into the Detroit International Airport.
After making a quick stop and making use of the airport's facilities, the car next came to a stop on a private runway. Stepping out, I was immediately welcomed by a pretty hostess, her blonde hair tucked neatly under a red cap.
Her red skirt stopped halfway down her thighs, showing her fair, smooth skin. On her chest, she wore a clean white shirt designed to reveal her cleavage, her large breasts pushing forward and practically begging me to have a go at them.
"Welcome, Sir. I'm Silvia, your hostess for this flight. I've been expecting you."
"Where is the captain?" I asked, looking at the blue Learjet behind the woman, nodding my head in satisfaction.
While it was considered a medium-class private jet, a major selling point about the plane was its speed—858 km/h.
Travelling and being served by beautiful hosts wasn't my concern at the moment. Appearing in Los Angeles was.
If I could spend a hundred million to appear in LA right now, I would. After all, a hundred million might not be enough to solve the crisis that would erupt if the worst-case scenario of the current situation came to pass.
"I apologize for his absence. He's inside calibrating the plane, just doing some last-minute checks."
"Okay," I nodded. I took a step forward but paused, turning back to Grace, who had gotten out of the car with me but was still standing behind, unsure.
"Return to Denise and tell her everything that happened."
Just as I came to Michigan, so I left.
In less than ten minutes, the plane soared into the air. After the initial turbulence from ascending, it began cruising, and I continued my mind-breathing exercise.
"Sir, would you be open to some wine? We have something antique inside."
"No, thank you. How long has it been since your last flight?"
Nodding at my words and keeping her hands behind her back with a smile on her face, Silvia answered,
"I think over seventy minutes."
"And how long did it take?"
"Twelve hours. We came all the way from Texas and made a stop."
"And almost immediately you're here, serving on an eight-hour flight. I apologize for the inconvenience."
"Oh, it's no problem, Sir."
"Will our pilot be okay?"
"Of course, Sir. You don't have to worry about him. For precaution, we brought in an assistant for this flight."
"Hmm. I must have struck a golden deal with your boss."
"Something like that," Silvia said a little sheepishly, piquing my interest.
"Enlighten me. I've yet to communicate with my subordinate and learn how much it took her to send you guys back out here."
"Sorry, Sir, I'm not privy to dealings with the boss, but what I do know is that I'm being paid four times the usual, with a bonus if I serve you properly and thoroughly."
Silvia had her right heel lifted, her leg pressing on her toes as she spoke. With her hands still behind her, she sent me very suggestive looks, rubbing her thighs together.
"Seems like serving a man in any way isn't something new to you, but at the same time, it's still a foreign experience."
"Sorry for my poor display, Sir."
Disappointment dripped into Silvia's eyes, but I waved my hand.
"I have no problem with you, Silvia. You're serving me fine. Prepare my call, then go have a nap. Eight hours is very long. I'll ring you if I need something."
Obediently nodding, the busty hostess departed. Seconds later, a laptop was placed before me, and in no time, I was looking directly at Denise through the screen.
Technology in this period was far from what it would be in the next ten years, but strides were already being made in communication. For now, video calls were no longer just limited to laptops and other complex devices, though they were still expensive.
"Sir."
"Denise," I silently acknowledged, staring at the dark-haired woman and giving her the chance to talk.
"Grace arrived to tell me you reached the airport and found the jet steaming and waiting for you. I hope all is well with your flight so far?"
"I have a busty attendant looking to serve me in any way. Was that your handiwork?"
"No. That should be Gangpin's machination. The man is a shrewd businessman with a lot of black spots.
Unfortunately, he picked up on my desperation, and I had to pay him. I paid him $400,000 just for your flight.
He's an open associate of the government, though, so there's less to fear. The hostess might be a trap.
Shared meals have always been used to create bonds."
"Is he worth bonding with?"
"No. Not unless you want to dig your hand into the dark side and have the government giving you orders."
"Hmm."
"I had Grace tell me the events that happened at Caster's mansion. What are your orders in the matter?"
"Stay away from Mia and her children. Try to build a relationship with Tracy Caster, and if you're up for it, talk with Lia Caster."
"Are you sure about Lia?"
"I have my scores with her, and I intend to get my pound of flesh. But for now, if we can come to an agreement of sorts, it will be more favorable."
"I can try doing the same for Mia. I know things went really bad, but surely..."
As Denise spoke, my lips tightened and my eyes narrowed. On her own, she went quiet.
"You're letting your greed blind you. She tried to kill me twice, ready to sacrifice five hundred billion. What offer can we possibly bring her?
This was a disappointing display from you. Or are you perhaps scared?"
"Apologies.
Learning that we are on the opposite side of a titan like the Midaford, while also understanding the extent of their reach, has shaken me up."
"How is Carmel?"
The sudden question and change of topic surprised Denise, but she quickly sobered up.
"Right now, I have her quarantined in a room.
With your description of her abilities, it's troubling to try and interact with her.
Now that you're leaving, what do we do with her?"
