RE: Perverted Sugar Daddy System

Chapter 325: Can You Pay

Following the second implosion, an event that saw me and everything five meters around me painted red, unnatural silence filled the room.

A few heads turned, staring at Grace and me in amazement, while others looked toward the true perpetrator of the event.

My eyes shifted toward her, and my right hand, wielding my most devastating weapon, turned toward her.

In the presence of people whom I could not even see myself allying with anytime in the future, I had wanted to keep my capabilities close to heart. Something like my inventory, which both Mike and Bettany had hungered after, wasn't something I wanted to reveal, but now I had been forced to reveal it. Though my initial target had been wiped out, my entire being thrummed with the desire to end her mistress.

"Mr Lawson, before you do anything, please be aware that self-defense in all its forms is totally accepted."

"She tried to kill me, are you also going to deny this?" I shifted my gaze to Mongraty.

Right from the moment I entered this mansion, I had suffered humiliation after humiliation. At the moment I wanted to explode and cause as much mayhem as I could, but common sense along with Mongraty's words cautioned me.

"No, you are right, she did try to kill you, and that is why I intervened."

I had already suspected, but my blood ran cold as he confirmed that from where he stood, without moving a finger, Mongraty had ended Mia's two very able guards. The old man didn't just suppress them, he turned them to paste and what was most chilling was that I was only able to catch a glimpse of his attack, seconds after both women had died.

It was, of course, through the fabric of reality, but that was all I knew. I saw the hue of strange energy in two different locations around me, and that was all. It disappeared, and I was left with just my memories.

I thought my life being spared was all I would be getting, but then Mongraty continued with another sentence.

"Mia Midaford, you were informed of the rules of the event, but you ignored them. For that, you will be punished accordingly."

"I will contest Marcus Lawson," Mia said, her voice calm and gentle.

I didn't need to be Sherlock Holmes to understand that Mia's paper had informed her of her transfer of ownership to me. As I stared at the back of her head, I wondered who her previous owner had been.

"Did she become my slave?"

I doubted this thought because the system had remained silent, giving me no prompt. Once more helpless, I listened to Mongraty's punishment for the blonde queen.

"The punishment for trying to kill anyone during this event is ten billion dollars, and Mia, since you tried to do so twice, your fine is twenty billion dollars. Before the end of the week, you are expected to have already handed over to Marcus Lawson twenty billion dollars, or you will face discipline."

"Do you think I'm mad if I ask her to try killing me again?" Grace had been going through her own mental battles since Lia and Mia's actions toward me, but it was good to see that the sum of the remuneration brought her mind instant healing and had her eyes opened wide.

"No, but I don't think she will, twenty billion dollars is a lot, even the Casters are a bit taken aback."

True to Grace's words, there were a few mutterings from the casters, but Midaford remained calm and steady, unshaken at the idea of giving away twenty billion dollars.

"Na, they look okay, I'm sure she can fork out some more."

A smile climbed my face as I took a few steps forward, rubbing my chest as pain struck within it but faded away.

"Mr. Mongraty, thank you for saving my life. It's good to see that the old people in our field still value fairness and discipline. Sorry if I am disrupting, but I have a question."

"Yes," the man answered blankly.

"What happens if I were to have been killed?"

"Well, whoever killed you would have been struck dead, and if your killer were merely a pawn, then the mastermind would be fined five hundred billion dollars."

I was moving forward as Mongraty spoke, undisturbed by my current state, looking to take a seat on the row of chairs, just behind Mia and her children. These were the only seats left after Lia's outburst, but then Mongraty finished his sentence, and I heard the figures that came out of his mouth.

"Five hundred billion dollars."

"Five hundred billion dollars is a lot, will the mastermind really have to follow through? Especially since I'm dead. What if they can't?"

The reason why I was asking this question was obvious, more so for the information it could get me from Mongraty and he didn't hesitate to answer me.

"Do I look like a man to be disrespected, Mr. Lawson?"

"No, sir."

"If they can't pay, then they also die."

While I had doubts about Mongraty being allowed to snuff out Mia's life, my main takeaway from the old man's words was that Mia Midaford had five hundred billion dollars ready to fork out.

Ring! Ring!! Ring!!

I was just about to tempt fate one more time when a phone began ringing, the sound surprisingly coming from behind me, and I turned to Grace. To more of my surprise, she picked up the call, though she tried to keep a calm face, I could see the tremble in her eyes.

"It seems you have an emergency, Mr. Lawson, you can leave, everything of value to you has already been said."

"Thank you," I nodded to the old man and, without wasting a beat, turned and walked away, grabbing Grace by the arm as I passed her.

"What happened?" I asked the woman who had just ended the call.

"Valera was involved in an accident."
