Naruto managed to get away from that conversation with Hinata and Reika and ran off to pack his bags.

Jiraiya had given him one hour to meet at the gates of Konoha.

When he got home, Karin already had her things ready, prepared to leave.

When he told her he would go with her, Karin jumped with excitement.

"Yes! The Perverted Sage did it! I knew he wouldn't disappoint me!" she exclaimed upon hearing the news.

Apparently, she had already planned for him to accompany her on this trip.

Was she trying to keep him away from Hinata and Reika?

Naruto shrugged at the thought… although deep down, he was thankful.

For some strange reason, however, he had a bad feeling.

He felt that when he returned, he would be in even bigger trouble with Hinata and Reika.

And he wasn't wrong.

When he finished packing his things, he and Karin left.

...

Originally, Jiraiya took Naruto out of Konoha mainly for three important reasons within Naruto's story:

The first was to protect him.

After Orochimaru's attack on Konoha and the death of the Third Hokage, the village was vulnerable.

Naruto, being the Jinchūriki of the Kyūbi, became a target for the Akatsuki organization, which sought to capture the hosts of the tailed beasts.

Temporarily removing him from the village was a way to keep him safe.

The second was to train him.

Jiraiya wanted to train Naruto seriously, without interruptions or distractions.

During that time, Naruto considerably improved his skills, learned to better control the Kyūbi's chakra and, later on, even perfected techniques like the Rasengan. Jiraiya was also preparing him to face future threats, like Akatsuki.

The third was to make him a strong and independent ninja.

Jiraiya believed in Naruto's potential to change the ninja world and eventually become Hokage.

But to achieve that, Naruto needed not only strength but also maturity and experience. Training outside the village offered him all of that.

Now...

Jiraiya only wanted to make his student, Karin, happy, who was in love with Naruto.

Asking Naruto to come with them had no other reason.

Karin had asked him to convince Naruto to join them a few days earlier when she told him about this trip.

Apparently, his student wanted to keep Naruto away from other girls. Now Jiraiya knew who she meant.

Hinata Hyūga and Reika Uchiha.

"Karin is going to have a hard time..." he thought, lost in his thoughts.

Since Minato, Jiraiya hadn't known a talent as monstrous as Naruto.

At first, he had thought of taking him out of the village to keep him safe from Akatsuki, but...

Naruto, barely fifteen years old, had managed to defeat Kisame Hoshigaki, the Monster of the Hidden Mist, former member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist and wielder of the Samehada.

And before that, he had also defeated another former member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist: Zabuza Momochi, wielder of the Kubikiribōchō.

Yes, Jiraiya had no doubts about Naruto's strength.

Besides, according to what he had heard, he had even managed to become a perfect Jinchūriki.

He didn't understand how it was possible, considering the key to the Kyūbi's seal was in his possession. But he didn't dwell on it or ask questions. He assumed Kushina or Minato had something to do with it.

Lost in his thoughts, he didn't notice that Naruto and Karin were already in front of him.

"Hasn't seen us yet...?" Karin asked, surprised.

Naruto shook his head, a little disappointed. "She must have lost many faculties with age..."

"I have an idea..." Karin murmured with a mischievous smile.

Naruto raised an eyebrow, curious. He knew Karin was planning some prank.

Suddenly, she put on a surprised expression and pointed into the distance. "Perverted Sage, look! A beautiful woman is naked over there!"

Jiraiya turned his head at superhuman speed in the indicated direction. His eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

"WHERE? QUICK, TELL ME! I CAN'T SEE HER!"

Naruto and Karin rolled their eyes in unison.

When Jiraiya realized the trick, a vein pulsed furiously on his forehead.

"Oh, by the way, Perverted Sage..."

Jiraiya was about to complain to Naruto about the nickname when he noticed the two people accompanying them.

"She is Karura," said Naruto, pointing to the woman beside him. "She is the mother of Gaara, Kankurō, and Temari."

Jiraiya looked at the beautiful woman, surprised.

"She will accompany us on the trip. At some point, I will have to separate to take her to Sunagakure."

Jiraiya nodded repeatedly upon hearing that Karura would be joining them.

"Whatever it takes for a beautiful lady..." he agreed immediately. "I could even take her myself... if she prefers my company..." Jiraiya raised his eyebrows several times, suggestively.

Karura rolled her eyes. "No, thank you very much."

Jiraiya sighed and visibly deflated, disappointed.

Then, Naruto pointed at the boy next to Karura.

"And this idiot Kamikaze I suppose you already know."

"Hey! Stop calling me Kamikaze, Naruto!" Nawaki complained, crossing his arms. "You're talking to the future Sixth Hokage! Show me some respect!"

Naruto held back from responding that he was the Jinchūriki of the Kyūbi and Ichibi, future Daimyō of the Land of Whirlpools, and Patriarch of the Uzumaki Clan.

He really had to try hard not to let those words slip.

"Oh, I almost forgot. Long time no see, Jiraiya..." Nawaki greeted casually.

Jiraiya froze, staring at the young man in disbelief. He even touched his face as if he were facing a ghost.

"I can't believe it... you have also come back to life..."

"It was all thanks to...!" Nawaki stopped when Naruto gave him a light knock on the head before he revealed too much.

"You're just as stupid as Hashirama..." Naruto murmured, frowning.

With Hiruzen's death, only Kakashi knew that Naruto was responsible for the resurrection of so many people, and for some reason he didn't understand, he had chosen to keep silent.

Naruto didn't know why, but he suspected Sakumo had something to do with it.

He didn't care if others found out he was responsible, but he wouldn't reveal it himself.

Ignoring Nawaki's words, Jiraiya smiled, lifted him into the air, and threw him up, catching him on the way down.

"You don't know the joy it gives me to see you alive, Nawaki! Tsunade will be thrilled when she sees you!"

"I can't wait to see Tsunadezilla again!" exclaimed Nawaki when his feet touched the ground.

Jiraiya frowned, confused.

"Tsunadezilla?"

"That's what Naruto calls her. He says she's a mix of Tsunade and Godzilla: strong, loud, and if she gets angry... better run. It's a perfect nickname for my sister, don't you think?"

Naruto put a hand on his face in resignation.

Jiraiya nodded, amused, quickly agreeing.

"This is going to be a very long trip..." murmured Naruto as the five of them walked away from the gates of Konoha.

"At least we'll be together, Naruto. It'll be fun..." said Karin, taking his arm with a radiant smile.

Naruto smiled back.

This was going to be a great opportunity to get closer to Karin.

The Uzumaki clan wasn't going to repopulate by itself, after all...
