Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 284: First Taste of The Apocalypse

The rat let out a screech and dashed right at him, its movement was an exact replica of what he remembered.

So, with a sidestep, he dodged its advance.

And by bringing his sharp metal bar down onto its neck...

-49! Critical Hit!

He killed it.

<DING! You have slain: Slightly Large Rat (x1) [Level 1]: Minor Experience increase.>

"Eh...?" Rael tilted his head. Was it always that easy?

But before he could find out, another horde of rats came running at him.

They were slightly larger, but by putting his focus on their movements, Rael felt as if he could read them perfectly.

And to add the cherry on top, one of the rats suddenly slipped, tripping the rest of the rats behind it.

Rael didn't waste time. He ran up to them and, of course, killed them without an ounce of hesitation.

<DING! You have slain: Slightly Large Rat (x3) [Level 1]: Minor Experience increase.>

<DING! You have slain: Slightly Large Rat (x2) [Level 2]: Minor Experience increase.>

<You've reached Level 3!>

<+4 Free Stat Points>

Hmm... Rael took a peek at his status screen again.

So you get 2 adjustable stat points every level, and I can put them in whatever stat I want, huh? Neat, Rael thought and decided to use a few.

Agility: 10 → 12

Strength: 10 → 12

Even if the change was barely noticeable, he knew it not only increased his damage but also his movement speed.

Basically, all he needed now was to find some gear and figure out how to evolve his class.

Maybe it's when I reach level 10 like in Sketa Online? Or maybe it's level 50...

Yeah, he had no idea.

Still, he collected the hides of the rats he had slain and slung them over his back.

Then, he turned toward where the timer was displayed.

<52:04>

<52:03>

52 minutes remaining until he'd be killed.

Allegedly.

But he wasn't suicidal enough to test it out, so with that, he began making his way through the streets.

He took anything that resembled food and gobbled it down right away.

Of course, he made sure to keep some for emergencies.

The objective of this whole memory record was still rather unclear to him, but he could come up with some theories.

For starters, what if this was actually the fate of his world after he ate the Supreme Beast's eye?

But instead of being reincarnated then and there, he actually went through this entire scenario, and only then, when he reached the end, did he reincarnate inside that rat dungeon with a huge chunk of his memories missing.

Or he was just having one giant hallucination.

Though I wonder which one is more plausible? Rael snickered.

The first theory was good, and he'd hold onto it while inside the memory record.

Anyhow, after what felt like half an hour of walking, he finally found something.

Off in the distance was a green light, and when he approached it, he saw a jade palace inside a glass barrier.

There were several people inside, all running around aimlessly, some simply chatting.

So if this wasn't a safe zone, he didn't know what was.

He stepped through the barrier, and the moment he did, he heard a familiar noise.

<Ding!>

<The First Part of the main scenario has been completed!>

<...Ding!>

<The Sixth Jade Palace has reached maximum capacity!>

<The Main Scenario is being triggered...>

<Main Scenario – Part 2: Witness The Collapse>

<Description: The Sixth Jade Palace has undergone a lockdown. No humans may leave or enter. Monsters will now begin flooding the Jade Palace.>

<Objective: Survive for 8 hours (0 /8) | Kill 10 monsters (0 / 10)>

So is it survive for 8 hours and kill 10 monsters, or do I have to choose which? Rael wondered.

But before he could ponder it, the ground suddenly shook, and what followed was a single head flying past him, belonging to one of the people he had seen earlier.

His heart rate sped up as he turned around, taking in the chaos that had just started.

Monsters were throwing rocks the size of boulders from outside the barrier, and some were even trying to break inside.

The monsters were definitely stronger than the rats he had seen earlier, but given that their numbers were much higher than that of the survivors inside the safe zone, Rael didn't want to get swarmed.

So without hesitation, he ran up the wide stairs of the jade palace and reached the top after just a few minutes.

At the same time, he felt the air slightly twisting behind him, and as he turned around, he saw an arrowhead the size of a car heading for him.

But instead of hitting him, it narrowly missed.

<Always Slightly Off (Passive) has been activated!>

He remained there stunned for a few moments.

But once he noticed the monsters finally swarming inside the barrier and massacring all those who tried to fight back, Rael didn't hesitate and entered the Jade Palace itself.

The moment he did, he was met with hundreds of people already standing by, their weapons at the ready.

Yet in the very center of the room was a single throne on which a white-haired man sat cross-legged.

He gave off this ominous pressure that even made Rael himself wary.

Though no matter how much Rael tried to remember, he couldn't recall who this guy was.

For a moment, he thought there would be some altercation, but instead, the white-haired man sent Rael a nod, and Rael returned the gesture.

A woman cleared her throat as she walked up to Rael.

"Hey, you just arrived, right?"

"Pretty much," Rael replied, narrowing his eyes. "Is there a problem?"

"Not particularly..." the woman muttered, a faint smile appearing on her face.

Yet her next words made the smile less genuine.

"I see you have some food. Mind sharing with us?"
