Chapter 273: Killing The Blue Orc, And Establishing A Connection
Rael stared at the messages for a few more moments, trying to process them.
His bloodline was overpowered, he knew that.
All it took was dodging 10 or so hits from the Blue Orc, gauging its attack pattern and he managed to acquire its skill.
And not only that, he now dealt 50% more damage to it.
Safe to say, he was extremely pleased with this development.
But that was when Zafira flew up to him and pinched his cheek.
"If you're going to try something reckless like that again, at least tell me you have a plan," she said with a pout. "Here I thought you were on one of your suicidal errands again."
"Plan? Hmm... I guess I did have something along those lines," Rael replied innocently.
Yet their arguing was cut short as the Blue Orc kicked the ground, sending arcs of lightning flying everywhere.
Rael tried to comprehend this skill as well, but he didn't even know where to start.
His magic theory was pretty trash, after all.
They weaved and dodged the attacks.
But even so, some managed to land on their bodies.
[HP -3.664 Trillion! | 2.321 Trillion / 5.985 Trillion]
Zafira wasn't hurt as much as him, since he had practically hidden her behind him while dodging.
Still, with his high HP regeneration, his injuries healed rapidly.
At the same time, it seemed like the Blue Orc's movements began to slow down.
He flashed Zafira a nod, and she immediately glided down to the ground and began running at the monster.
In the meantime, Rael took a deep breath and hit his Violet String several dozen times, causing an array of notes to begin dancing around him.
Zafira's swiftness was surprising as she dashed behind the Blue Orc and cut its heel, causing it to drop down on one knee.
She was about to go for the second knee when hundreds of lightning bolts stopped her, forcing her to back off.
And just in time, Rael finally unleashed every single note he had been gathering right at the Blue Orc.
It was like a massive tsunami, and once it crashed into the unsuspecting Blue Orc, it suddenly froze as massive holes began to appear throughout its body.
And that was when the damage number finally appeared.
-71%! [475.132 Trillion] | Critical True Note (x252 Crystal Violin Blade)
Its durability was significantly enhanced, so it took a lot of hits to finally get it down.
But once he did, the monster's HP was reduced to a certain number that made a grin form on Rael's face.
—Blue Orc (Grade 2 | General Class Elite) [Level 421] | Vitality: Tier 6 [5% / 100% HP]
<Ding!>
<Boss Monster Exclusive Passive Effect: You automatically execute enemies at or below 5% HP!>
The Blue Orc's entire body trembled for a few moments until eventually, it simply fell to the ground, lifeless.
And following that came the pop-up he'd been waiting for.
<Blue Orc (Grade 2 | General Class Elite) [Level 421] killed! Experience +95,024,085,123>
<+47,512,042,561 Trell Acquired>
<Level: 2,286 → 2,455>
<+4,039,200 Trell Bonus>
<Gluttony - Activated!>
<+13,992,023 Strength>
<+2,431,344 Agility>
<+51,234,942 Constitution>
<+1 Draconic Intelligence>
<+1,299,945 Wisdom>
"Haah?" Rael's brows furrowed. Only 95 billion experience? I mean... I get that this monster was only a General Class, and an elite... but it's still a Grade 2...
He put that aside when he noticed Zafira's pouting face.
He flew down, landing beside her with a slight smirk.
"Well... we killed it? I guess," Rael remarked. "It wasn't that hard. We just kind of needed to hold the distance and let it exhaust itself. Though that's what I'd expect from an orc. If it was a troll, then we'd probably be screwed."
"Lucky us..." Zafira muttered. "Though... all his blood landed on my head again."
He raised a brow.
"Oh? I thought he pissed on you."
She rolled her eyes with a faint smile and turned around.
He was about to follow ahead, but when he glanced at the corpse of the Blue Orc, he saw something interesting.
It was a green glowing orb right where its head was, and Rael felt a connection toward it.
He tapped Zafira on the shoulder and started walking toward the glowing orb.
And when he arrived right before it, the glowing orb suddenly flew into his body.
A moment later, a pop-up appeared, one that he was definitely not expecting.
<Primordial Mark has activated!>
Special Effect: You have a 1% chance to gain the soul of the enemy you slay. The odds increase or decrease depending on the level of the enemy slain. (Collected souls can be stored, sold, and used for resurrection).
<Blue Orc Soul (Uncommon) [Grade 2] has been acquired!>
<Soul Storage has been unlocked!>
<Currently stored souls: 1 / 10>
<Do you wish to establish a connection to the Dimensional Marketplace?>
<Yes / No>
"Uhh..."
"What's up?" Zafira asked. "Did you get something cool again?"
"Kind of?" Rael tilted his head. "I got the Blue Orc's soul."
"Huh..." Zafira mumbled. "Why am I not surprised..."
Rael chuckled. "Want a little Blue Orc pet? I think I can resurrect it somehow."
A shiver ran down her spine.
"It's okay... I think Mercurius is enough of a pet already. Any more and Celestara will need to declare bankruptcy."
Is that even a thing? Rael mused. Oh well, not like it matters. I was planning on selling it anyways.
With that, he pressed "Yes."
Immediately, his vision darkened, and the same appeared to be the case for Zafira, who clung tightly to his arm.
She stayed silent, wary, and a moment later, their vision returned.
Just this time, they were greeted with a peculiar sight.
They were inside a luxurious bar with gold decorating its walls and many people walking around.
Yet the one thing they had in common was that they wore a mask that one would usually wear to a masquerade.
But unlike those cheap masks, Rael couldn't make out the face of anyone present, so it was clearly effective.
They were all dressed in black clothing, and when he looked down, he noticed he and Zafira were dressed the same.
He touched his face and found that he was wearing a mask like the others.
Not too shabby... I don't know anyone here, but true identities might be worth something here, so it's good to have something like this.
There were several signs scattered throughout the bar, and each one was in a language he couldn't read.
Yet when he focused, those languages soon unveiled themselves.
<Lesser Ancient Dragon Bloodline is reacting!>
<You have successfully learned the Ancient Dwarven Language!>
The signs were pretty straightforward, as they were just simple shop descriptions.
—Interdimensional Grocery Shop! Cheap Prices!
—The Procrastinating Wizard's Potion Shop.
—Lost Relics of the Divine.
Procrastinating Wizard, huh? Rael raised a brow. I might just have to pay him a visit... but first...
He glanced through the signs until eventually, he found the one he was looking for.
—The Soul Sucker Society! Come sell your collected souls!
Rael subtly turned to Zafira, a faint smile appearing on his face.
"Let's go."
