RAIWAN AGAINST THE DIVINE

Chapter 8: Death's Symphony

Chapter 8: Death's Symphony

"Kaixin… I wonder why you would call all these people, knowing neither you nor they would last a minute once the others make their move," Lisa said sharply.

The king remained silent for a few moments before finally replying, "There is no better choice. We can only hope for an honorable death."

"There was no better choice, but there is now," a voice howled, blending seamlessly with the wind itself.

The king's expression shifted from surprise to shock. He had no idea what Rahiq had just said.

"But there are five hundred of them and only two of you, except…" The king's voice trailed off as realization dawned.

Then he asked cautiously, "May I ask what your abilities are?"

Lisa's gaze darkened, her stare so intense that the king felt as if death itself had crept upon him. "We don't have time for nonsense like this. I won't tell you to leave again."

The prince, burning with rage, leapt off his horse. "How dare you speak to the king li—"

Before he could finish, he was slammed onto the ground, a heavy boot pressing firmly against his chest.

"What happened?"

No one saw it. No one except Lisa.

Rahiq's movements were too fast for the eye—or even the mind—to register.

As the wind howled. Horses neighed in panic. The air grew suffocating as the soldiers struggled to breathe.

Rahiq crouched until his storm-filled eyes locked onto the prince's, their depths swirling with an eerie, tempestuous energy. His voice, cold and hollow like a death messenger's, rumbled through the prince's bones.

"Do you wish to die, kid?"

The prince trembled uncontrollably, his face drained of all color, pure fear paralyzing him.

Rahiq lifted the leg and...

Then—

A thunderous sonic boom shattered the air.

The very atmosphere trembled under the force. Wind roared, sending hair and cloaks whipping violently.

Within the deafening explosion, a voice resonated like a death sentence:

"Your silence means you're ready. Death is always on time. Prepare to die."

Rahiq remained unfazed, his gaze shifting to Lisa. "A sonic ability? I thought they were rare."

"They are," Lisa replied with a smirk,

"because they never live long enough to tell the tale of meeting you, my dear."

Rahiq's lips curled into a grin. As his eyes turned transparent, and from his body, an ethereal mist unfurled, twisting and swirling like a river of wind. He said with his soft voice that sounded like a lullaby, yet carried with absolute clarity—

"Let's return his gift… with interest."

He whispered into the air.

"Send his sonic back tenfold."

The air shifted. A dense force pulled in every magical and gaseous element lingering on the battlefield. The mist darkened, shifting from transparent to a brilliant silvery hue.

And then—

With the speed of lightning, the silver mist shot eastward, targeting the five hundred Lords of Naif stationed in the distance.

It condensed, homing in on a figure hovering mid-air, standing on seemingly nothing.

The moment the mist made contact with his head—

His head exploded.

A wet, sickening splatter echoed across the battlefield.

The remaining mist transformed into razor-sharp and silvery needles, piercing through armor, flesh, and skulls with terrifying precision.

One by one, thirty or so Lords of Naif collapsed, their lifeless bodies hitting the ground with tud.

Shock!

Everyone was shocked!

A stunned silence followed.

The Lords of Naif, renowned for their strength, their enchanted armors crafted from the remains of magical beasts, had fallen effortlessly.

On the other side, the king of San Raza—Kaixin the Mighty—along with his people, could barely comprehend what had just happened.

Some of them began whispering rumors—

'Is Rahiq truly an angel? Is Lisa a maiden of paradise?'

Others dismissed the thought as absurd.

'How could a mere palace cleaner possess such power?'

The king, his mind racing, thought:

'A Lord—a red one at that—was slain in mere seconds…?'

His heartbeat pounded in his ears. His mind reeling on the verge of collapse.

"A Supreme!"

His lips parted in a whisper, as if not saying it aloud would make it real.

"A Supreme… was sweeping my palace?"

His men—those who had reached the same chilling realization—swayed unsteadily atop their horses, their faces pale with terror.

Meanwhile, Rahiq stepped forward, Lisa at his side. Behind them, the air shimmered and solidified into an invisible barrier, sealing the people of San Raza away from the battlefield. The barrier blocked even sound, allowing them only to watch—powerless to interfere.

The remaining Lords of Naif, furious at the massacre of their comrades, erupted with rage. Their energy crackled like wildfire, saturating the air with an oppressive force as they charged toward the enemy.

Lisa merely raised her hand.

And in an instant, lightning crackled to life, shaping itself into a blade. The sword pulsed with volatile energy, sparks flickering as they repelled one another upon contact with the weapon.

Lisa's entire body crackled with electricity—

And then, she vanished.

The next moment, bodies flew through the air like leaves caught in a hurricane.

Many heads hit the ground before the Naif Lords could even register the attack.

One Lord attempted to strike from behind.

Lisa had long sensed him, but didn't even turn.

Then, before he could react, she met him halfway—faster than sight itself—and slashed.

A bloodcurdling scream tore through the battlefield before he was reduced to a charred husk.

More Lords charged toward her, as if a door to paradise had opened where she stood.

Sensing this, Lisa closed her eyes. After a moment, she opened them.

And then... there was a boom!

A massive explosion of lightning surged from her body in every direction, electrocuting everyone within a hundred meters. The air itself seemed to crackle with electricity, freezing those caught in the shock, leaving them paralyzed.

In the eye of the storm, Lisa dispersed her sword and raised her hands to the sky. Lightning seeped from her body, rising into the heavens.

Her figure was shrouded in the swirling dust, only flashes of lightning was visible in the chaos. The lightning stretched from the dust toward the sky, where a storm began to form.

Everything was happening so fast that no one had time to react.

One of the Lords, who hadn't been electrocuted, leaped toward Lisa, crossing over a hundred meters in an instant. He entered the dust where she stood. When their eyes met—

"Be the first," Lisa said as she swung her hands down.

He didn't even see the bolt of lightning that struck him, reducing his body to ash.

No one from Naif's forces, except for the San Razians, witnessed the catastrophic yet mesmerizing rain of lightning that turned the Lords to dust.

Few moments later, when everything had settled, the dust and the raining storm, Rahiq appeared beside Lisa, exhaling a disappointed sigh.

"You're no fun, woman. Why kill everyone? You didn't even spare one for me."

Lisa smiled, tapping his shoulder. "Don't worry… this is just the beginning."

Then, with a teasing wink, she added—

"Besides, this is where we die, remember?"
