Quick Transmigration: Irresistible Beauty

Chapter 314: Blackened Junior Sister (19)

However, seeing that Yue Ran did not accept the little demon beast from her arms, the young woman took back her hands in regret.

A light sigh came out of her lips as she asked, "Have you ever heard of the Demon Cult?"

The young woman placed a hand on the forehead of the little demon beast in her arms, stroking it as if she wanted to calm it down from the sadness it felt.

Yue Ran raised her brows with interest after hearing such words; thus, she looked at the young woman's face and responded with a hum.

"Before we get onto the topic, I would first like to introduce myself," the young woman said. "My Lord, my name is Hai Bing Tu, and I am a demon beast, a rabbit demon beast with an ice element, to be exact.

Seeing that Yue Ran was intrigued by her words and showed no surprise in her disclosure of her being a demon beast—most likely due to the fluffy white rabbit ears on the top of her head—Hai Bing Tu did not keep Yue Ran in any more suspense and continued to speak.

"Three hundred years ago, demon beasts ran rampant in the world," Hai Bing Tu began. "The leader of the Exalted Sea Sect made a contract with the legendary esteemed sword Long Yuan to fight for the people of the world." There seemed to be a faint sigh in her words. "The two worked well together, and both served as an inspiration to many people around, thus providing hope to the people and gaining countless followers." Hai Bing Tu paused and smiled gently at Yue Ran, as though reminiscing such a time, before continuing, "Still, just when the war was won, it was revealed that the leader of the Exalted Sea Sect had done something dishonorable."

"Something dishonorable?" inquired Yue Ran.

"Hmm," Hai Bing Tu hummed and gave the young woman a light nod. "It came to light that he bore ties with the foul and loathsome demon beasts back then, with the evidence that people discovered a number of demon beast cubs in the Exalted Sea Sect."

The lips of Hai Bing Tu rose higher, as if she were smiling very happily, but those who saw it could not feel any warmth. Instead, her smile was just like the bitterly cold wind on the winter solstice: sharp and unkind.

"Since then, the Exalted Sea Sect has been known as the Demon Cult, and the legendary esteemed sword Long Yuan has also turned into the infamous demonic sword," Hai Bing Tu stated.

"I see," Yue Ran said. Without uttering a word, she shot a glance at Long Yuan, as if wanting to check his expression, then retracted her gaze to face Hai Bing Tu again. "The reason for telling me all this... what do you want from me?"

Although the other party had her eyes closed, Yue Ran was still aware that the other party could sense her sight very clearly, albeit not knowing how or why.

"You may not be aware that..." Hai Bing Tu slowly dragged on the last word; her voice turned low and somber. "Not everyone is allowed to enter through those doors into this ice chamber."

Hai Bing Tu carefully set the little demon beast down on the ground and let him play by himself.

"My Lord, do you know?" Hai Bing Tu asked. She clasped her hands together, then tilted her slightly to the side, as if wanting to share an exciting story, and continued, "A few days ago, a young woman, who no one knew where she had come from and who was somehow aware of this ice chamber, came alone to break through those doors. As a result, her spiritual power was drained, and she had nearly died due to the furious backlash of such an attempt."

Hearing this, Yue Ran raised her brows and wrote the information down silently in her heart. She may or may not have a guess on who the young woman mentioned by Hai Bing Tu was.

"To enter this ice chamber, it is not one's cultivation that is evaluated, but one's talent and ability," Hai Bing Tu said. "And also... bloodline and opportunity."

Yue Ran keenly caught the word "bloodline," and thousands of thoughts raced through her head. The bizarre disease that was presently residing in her body must have something to do with the origin and background that belonged to the original body. Perhaps this Hai Bing Tu may know one or two things about her origin and possibly aid her in curing the aggravating condition in her body that was more like a curse than anything else.

"My Lord, your spiritual power, which has the breath of the Exalted Sea Sect combined with your talent, allowed you to open the doors to this ice chamber," Hai Bing Tu said.

Yue Ran simply nodded silently to the rabbit demon beast.

"Hundreds of years ago, the Exalted Sea Sect was besieged by the angry masses due to the rearing of demon beasts," Hai Bing Tu resumed telling her story. "In the beginning, when I had first joined the sect, I was merely an ordinary rabbit demon beast. However, the attack came so suddenly. With the last memory and legacy of the sect, I hid in this ice chamber, waiting for the elders and disciples of the Exalted Sea Sect to return, revive the sect, and wash away the stigma, the mark of disgrace."

When Hai Bing Tu spoke these things, her normally serene and gentle yet tepid tone suddenly turned slightly erratic, as if she were a little stimulated by a bad memory, and her voice fluctuated up and down.

"And I... I have been waiting... waiting for them to come back. But I have been waiting for too long, far too long... until the unbearable regret slowly faded away in the passing time," Hai Bing Tu said, her soft voice ringing loudly in the silent room.
