Chapter 313: Blackened Junior Sister (18)
"Infuse spiritual power…" Yue Ran's words trailed off at the end.
Yue Ran, filled with curiosity, casually placed her hand on the recessed area shaped like a human hand and then directed her spiritual power into it. She did not harbor much expectation of what may occur later. The reason she took action was simply because of curiosity—she was curious about what would come into being after she had poured her spiritual power into it.
All of a sudden, the depictions of the little creatures on the surrounding murals began to move, and the ice crystals around them turned a darker shade of blue. Even though Yue Ran's Sea of Qi in the Dan Tian was as vast as the sea, once she mobilized her spiritual power, it would still cause her to suffer bone-eroding pain.
"Master…" Long Yuan furrowed his brows, looking a little worried.
"There is no need to say more," the young woman said.
Yue Ran's complexion grew paler and paler with every second that passed, yet she remained resolute. She showed no signs of stopping as her spiritual power flowed continuously from her hand onto the handprint. Even though she was in tremendous pain, she was able to remain in place, looking exceptionally calm and composed.
The others who saw her—well, it was mainly just a sword spirit and a system, Long Yuan and Ruan Ruan—were unable to feel any sympathy for her; only admiration was left in place. It seemed as though feeling even the slightest bit of sympathy would be a great insult to her.
The engravings depicted on the stone walls became more and more crystal-clear; they even shone a different shade of blue—a different shade of blue that grew increasingly darker as it fell from the top to the bottom. The beautiful blue gradient around made the two unable to turn their gaze away, as if they were in a sea made of blue butterflies flying and glittering all around; as if they were surrounded by glinting, shimmering liquid blue.
For a moment, the two felt like they had stepped into a heavenly place amid the silent abyss.
After a while, a rumbling sound came from the bottom of the valley. The shaking was harsh and deafening. It was as if the space they were in was about to collapse. Long Yuan hurried forward to support Yue Ran in any case of danger. The young woman, who had been calm and at ease before, was now leaning in the arms of the sword spirit and was breathing shallowly due to her state of weakness. Even though Long Yuan hardly displayed any sort of emotion during regular times, a slight hint of distress was visible in his eyes now.
"Let us go," Yue Ran said, her voice gentle but firm.
At this moment, Yue Ran was leaning half of her body against Long Yuan. Just as the two stood there, a stone door materialized in front of them, rumbling and then separating.
Yue Ran: Ah, so the dividing stone doors were the source of the noise and shaking.
Following such a realization, the double stone doors gradually moved to opposite sides, revealing a small gap that led to a hidden chamber.
Upon its appearance, a storm of dust emerged, shooting up into their faces, and Long Yuan instinctively raised his sleeves to shield his master until the fine particles settled down.
The secret room that had been laid untouched for hundreds of years had once again come into view to its visitors. Yue Ran looked inward at the new area. The enormous space was constructed of ice, and snow lotuses were coiled, dangled, and adorned with ice crystals from the ceiling.
There were several small pools of water scattered all over the place. The liquid inside them looked to be beautifully clear. However, as it descended, it became thick and viscous, making the whole secret chamber show an uncanny beauty.
There was an ice bed in the center of the room, and the figure of a woman could be seen lying on it.
Long Yuan supported the weak body of Yue Ran as they walked in. But to his surprise, he saw that the fingers of the unconscious individual trembled a few times.
The young woman lying on the ice bed still had her eyes closed, yet she was able to sense the breaths of two individuals drawing near. She abruptly sat up from her extended slumber and dangled a pair of bare feet that lacked any shoes or socks. With a deft move, she raised her head and sniffed the air.
"Greetings, my lord."
The young woman did not open her eyes as she spoke. There were a few red marks on her face, and she appeared a little inhuman with a pair of bunny ears perched on the top of her head.
The voice between her pink lips was like a cold wind.
In spite of the fact that her eyes were still closed, she could face the direction of where Yue Ran was with perfect accuracy.
Yue Ran cast a quick glance at Long Yuan in question in the face of such an unpredictable scene. The latter shook his head at her, seemingly conveying that he himself did not know what had just happened.
As if realizing that she was acting a little too abruptly, the young woman smiled softly at Yue Ran and then raised her hand to point at the ceiling. Suddenly, numerous roots emerged, and the flower buds on them gathered together. Subsequently, the flower buds swelled up and merged to form a massive snow lotus, from which an adorable little demon beast fell out.
The young woman deftly caught the little demon beast, stood up to walk, and presented it in front of Yue Ran, as if wanting to hand it over to her. The little demon beast smiled brightly as soon as he saw Yue Ran, the mother (person) he had always been thinking about.
