Chapter 282: The Gentle Psychiatrist (52)
Tang Meng's eyes held a hint of mad jealousy.
"Cheng Ying is a strong person," Tang Meng said with a slight sneer on her face. "I believe that he can recover slowly only because of his own strength."
The words "and not yours" were left unspoken yet harbored an unmistakable implication, as mutely expressed by the female protagonist.
The female protagonist's statement made Yue Ran want to laugh. But she did manage to fight back the smile that was threatening to climb across her face by taking a sip of warm tea and saying with a sigh in an earnest tone, "I hope so too." After a pause, the young woman continued, "Unfortunately, he is still very much dependent on me as his psychiatrist."
Tang Meng could no longer stand to hear this and immediately retorted in a rather rude sort of voice, "How could that be? I have only seen him talking and laughing with his group of classmates just two days ago."
When Yue Ran heard those words, she raised her eyes to slowly center them on the female protagonist.
When Tang Meng abruptly became aware that she had been stared at, she instantly snapped back to her senses. It was apparent that what she was saying was a bit strange, so she quickly proceeded to add a sentence: "Well, I had the chance to spot him and see him like this from afar while doing my patrol two days ago." The young woman touched the back of her neck as she spoke. She did not dare to meet Yue Ran's eyes as she rambled on, "He... well, he has many friends now, and I believe that he was able to recover very well on his own."
"Miss Tang, there are instances in which if a person seeks to return to society, that person is going to find it necessary to get started by masking themselves first," Yue Ran explained calmly with a gaze of pity in her eyes when she peered at the female protagonist. Naturally, her pity was not aimed at Cheng Ying but rather at Tang Meng. Her look made it appear as though the female protagonist was rather a daft person or something. "I had encouraged him to make more friends, yet he was still crying to me two days ago, claiming that he was tired and bored. He is really a spoiled child, is he not?"
Yue Ran then put on a troubled look as she uttered what appeared to be a rhetorical question, whereas Tang Meng did not know what to feel for a moment. Tang Meng no longer had the desire to continue this conversation anymore, so she quietly tightened her fists while glaring holes at the table.
Was it true that Cheng Ying did, in fact, listen to Yue Ran so much? Is he truly inseparable from Yue Ran?
Tang Meng really did not believe it. She did not want to believe it!
If Yue Ran has the ability to do it, then she, Tang Meng, must certainly be able to do the same thing too!
Is it not just to offer companionship to the young man? If she had reached out first to save him, then Cheng Ying might have listened to her alone right now instead of Yue Ran! Chances were that the young man would likely also look at her with the same trusting gaze that he looked at Yue Ran last time!
"Well, I still have things to do, so I am going to take my leave first," Tang Meng stated as she abruptly stood up from her seat.
"That is all right," Yue Ran replied gently. "It just so happens that I am also done with my work, so I will walk you out."
The two of them did not speak much as they made their way out of the front door of the clinic.
After stepping outside, one was able to easily spot a tall and handsome young man standing by a luxury car with a cigarette in his mouth. It appeared as if he were waiting for someone. The person in question was Lu Yuan.
When Yue Ran came out of the automatic glass sliding doors, the young man immediately crushed the butt of the cigarette and skillfully flung it in the trash can a distance away from him.
Tang Meng could easily spot the familiar-looking, tall, and handsome young man whom she had actually stumbled upon in Yue Ran's office last time.
"Is he Doctor Yue's lover?" Tang Meng inquired.
"No, he is just a former patient of mine," Yue Ran responded in her usual calm and gentle tone of voice.
"Oh," was Tang Meng's reply to that.
Tang Meng had seen Lu Yuan, who had appeared at the top of the list of the five most eligible CEO bachelors under thirty and possessed a large sum of fortune in the city, including both money and assets. But it turned out that this kind of person was, in truth, the previous patient of Yue Ran? And it seemed that he was still pursuing her too.
This Doctor Yue certainly would not give her patients psychological counseling while also seducing them at the same time, would she? Was Cheng Ying similarly drawn to the young woman, primarily because of Yue Ran's devious wiles?
The more Tang Meng thought about such a thing, the more it came off as the most probable scenario. So the more that the female protagonist mulled over it, the angrier she became, and thus the look that she shot at Yue Ran changed into one full of glaring malice and disdain.
What kind of nefarious means had this psychiatrist been implementing on her patients?!
The female protagonist's fierce gaze seemed to be accusing Yue Ran of her "bad deeds" and how she could scarcely believe that Yue Ran was daring enough to employ this type of underhanded practice on vulnerable and defenseless people, despite the fact that the public obviously thinks so highly of her!
