CHAPTER 400 - Emberlyn Ashborn.
"Who's she again?"
Selina, staring at a fiery-haired woman, questioned with an expression of doubt. She felt like she had heard it wrong.
The woman was sitting beside Alex, with her long red hair flowing down her waist and some strings going down her chest, reaching her bountiful mounds. Her waist was slim and her hips wide.
She had that mature, gracious, and motherly charm to her. Her gentle red eyes stared at everyone as if they were precious in their own rights.
She was the perfect definition of the all-mother—someone who no one would hesitate to call mother.
Luna, Selina, Noctura, Ann, and Seraphyra were all looking at this woman. She had been beside Alex from the moment he teleported here.
What shocked both Seraphyra and Selina was the name that Alex used to introduce the woman.
"The original Phoenix? B-But wasn't she dead...?"
Seraphyra, who was quite new to Alex's shocking feats, was in utter disbelief.
Was the demon lord playing a prank with them? That's what she thought.
But Alex was in no way kidding; she really was the original Phoenix, Emberlyn Ashborn. Alex had made it so that she could now walk out of that enclosed chamber.
It wasn't hard to do it, as the strongest fighters of the empire were already lying half-dead on the ground. Who would be able to stop Alex after that?
"She was dead, but at the same time she wasn't."
Alex, who heard Seraphyra's question, replied, glancing at Selina with a smile as well.
Selina's question was different, but the meaning and emotion behind her question were the same as Seraphyra's. She, even after seeing all the things Alex could do, wasn't able to believe it.
Being talented and bringing back the dead were not the same thing.
"What do you mean...?"
Alex's words, however, just confused the poor Seraphyra more and more, causing him to chuckle a bit at that. He didn't want to imagine what her reaction would be if she knew what had actually happened and what he had done.
And above all, although trustworthy, she was still quite new to know about his deepest secrets; the same could be said for Selina, so he refrained from talking about it any deeper and simply smiled at them.
"Let's just say that it was a miracle that she survived and is not able to come back up."
His reply caused Selina to frown and Seraphyra to nod her head with a thoughtful look, but none of them questioned it any further.
Both of them were comfortable around Alex and the group, but that didn't mean that they would try to poke their nose into things that Alex didn't want to reveal just yet.
"So, why did you bring her here?"
Selina, dropping the topic from before, asked another question.
They were supposed to be enjoying the trip, but there was never a mention of the original Phoenix joining them. So, was she here just to tag along, or were there some deeper reasons?
"Hm, she wanted to meet some of her old friends, and she wanted to do it stealthily, so she asked me to help her with that."
Alex didn't mind answering her question; it was not something he would've to hide from them. They were not someone who would leak the information—that was something he didn't even have a doubt about.
He wouldn't have told them about Emberlyn being the original Phoenix if that were the case.
"Oh, I see..."
Selina nodded her head and then moved to a seat situated in the room, getting seated on it and staring at Emberlyn with a thoughtful expression.
The atmosphere then turned a bit weird as everyone went silent all of a sudden.
There was a fucking legend in front of them, alive and breathing, but there was nothing they wanted to say?!
This caused poor Emberlyn to get a bit embarrassed as well since she was expecting a lot of questions from the people of this generation, as it was natural to be curious about someone like her, but it looked like she was thinking highly of herself.
In reality, it was nothing like that. Everyone here had tons of questions to ask, but Ann and Luna were sure that Alex would tell them everything later on when they were alone, and Noctura wasn't curious about anything at all; she had always been like that.
Noctura was just waiting for the moment when she could jump out of Ann's arms and rush into Alex's.
Selina and Seraphyra, on the other hand, had many questions as well, but they didn't voice them out as they didn't know what Emberlyn had been through.
Maybe she had been trapped somewhere for a while, or maybe she was on her deathbed right now and just seemed to be fine on the outside.
There were many things they weren't aware of, and that was precisely why they couldn't carelessly ask any kind of question. They were waiting for the time when the Phoenix was not there; they would ask their questions to Alex at that time.
Once they were aware of the phoenix's situation, only then would they engage in a conversation with her.

"Well, now that I have introduced you guys to each other, it's time that I take her to the place she desires to go."
Alex spoke as he stood up, followed by Emberlyn and the others.
"Can I come along, Alex?"
Soon, Ann spoke up with a smile, expressing her desire to follow Alex as she felt that there was something very interesting about to happen.
"Sure, I don't mind if all of you tag along."
Alex, in reply to Ann's question, just smiled at her, while adding the fact that he wouldn't mind others tagging along as well, causing Seraphyra's eyes to brighten up.
She wanted to go meet these friends of Emberlyn from the moment Alex spoke about it, but she didn't think she had the right to ask for that.
She wasn't that close to Alex or Emberlyn, so the delight she felt when Alex said that it was fine to go with them was a lot more than she had thought she would feel.
"Thank you!"
She couldn't stop the wide smile that marred her face, causing the people in the room to momentarily freeze at the sheer innocence they felt emanating from her.
"Don't worry about it."
Alex just shook his head and replied before waving his hand, causing a portal to appear in front of Alex, leading to the next location they were supposed to go.
"I will stay behind; I think I have an idea of where to start with this empire."
It was then that Luna spoke, causing Alex to raise a brow.
Not everyone understood her words, but Alex, Ann, and Alice did, causing them all to be a bit surprised.
Luna was, of course, talking about her organization, and having a lead on the first day she arrived here was really surprising.
"As you wish, be sure to contact me if you find something you can't handle."
Alex, after staring into her eyes for a while, nodded his head, turning to look at the only person who had yet to give her opinion on this matter.
"What about you?"
Alex tilted his head as he questioned Selina about what she wanted to do, but Selina just shook her head.
"I won't be coming with you, as I need to be back at the Empire before dawn, and the sun's setting already."
She spoke with some regret and loss in her voice, as she really did want to tag along, but leaving the border for too long wasn't a safe thing to do, especially right now, when the actions of the aquatic empire were frown-inducing.
"Alright then, take care."
Alex nodded his head, not saying much to her, as he knew what was worrying her right now. He was planning on taking care of that as well, but before that, he needed to take care of the things on land.
The only ones left to be consented were Alice and Alice and Noctura, but they were already next to Alex, with Noctura on his shoulder and Alice by his side. They had made their stance clear without even saying anything.
"Let's go."
So, with everything set, he stepped into the portal, leading them to a forest where they had been some time ago.
