CHAPTER 399 - Girls in Ferox Empire.
While Alex was gone to the Empire of Phoenixia, Ann, Luna, Selina, Noctura, and Seraphyra stayed in the Empire of Ferox, chatting about things related to their past.
Your adventure continues at empire
It was more like Selina asking Ann, Noctura, and Luna about their first encounter with Alex, as they were the ones who had been the longest with him.
Selina had decided to tag along as she had nothing else to do for now, but she would soon return to the Demon Empire, Maleficaris.
She was one of the guardians of the empire after all—the one who guarded the demon empire against the aquatic empire, who had been showing some strange movements these days.
Seraphyra, on the other hand, just listened to them talk with an earnest expression.
At first, she thought that she would feel out of place with new people, but as she chatted with them for a while, she realized that the demon lord was no older than her, and Alice might just be a year older; Ann was about the same, bringing her some relief.
Yeah, Luna and Selina were older, but they didn't make it feel like it.
So, after a while, she started to mingle with them.
This was all a big surprise to her, as she had never thought of traveling outside like this. It was because her grandfather had already asked the demon lord for permission to have her tag along that she agreed to it.
She didn't want her grandfather—her role model—to lose face in front of the demon lord because she denied leaving her cultivation chamber.
It was not that she didn't like the demon lord—not at all; she was pretty excited about it. But there was this goal of hers that always became a hurdle for her enjoyment.
She wanted to grow stronger faster, which didn't seem possible right now. So, she decided to just enjoy a bit of her time; maybe it would help her realize something.
"Are they demons?"
Right now, all five of them, including Noctura, were walking down the road of the imperial capital of the Ferox Empire. They had decided to get some fresh air and check out how the empire was.
They were the first batch of demons stepping into this demi-human Empire, so they wanted to check how they would be treated as well.
This was probably the second reason why Selina had decided to stay here for a while.
She was a guardian of the demon empire, so it was her duty to look out for the people of her empire.
"Yeah, it seems like that. But aren't they a bit too good-looking to be called demons?"
She could hear the talk of the people around her, just like Luna and the others. They were all trying to observe the reaction of the people in this empire toward the demons while talking amongst themselves.
"You sure had a 'bright' start with Alex, huh?"
Selina muttered as soon as Luna ended her reminiscence. She was done with the talk about her past, and although not all flowers, it was still a memory she cherished—it was her first memory with Alex.
"Hehe, you should listen to Alice's past if you think hers is 'bright'. She had directly attacked him."
Ann, on the other hand, just chuckled at Selina's reaction to Luna's first encounter with Alex.
Luna's encounter only had a bit of threatening and power show-off; with Alice, it was different, as Alex had completely destroyed Alice's confidence without even doing much.
"Oh? What happened then?"
Selina, of course, got curious as soon as she heard those words, wanting to know more about that incident. For some reason, Selina and Ann found each other quite pleasing, maybe because of their canine lineage and the fact that both of them were balls of curiosity.
"I can't tell you that; only Alice can."
Ann, however, raised her arms up. She didn't want to spoil the fun and let Alice recite the incident herself. That way, she would be able to see some unique expressions on Alice's face.
"Oh well... I guess I'll have to wait for her return then."
Selina just sighed as she heard Ann's words.
"Was it really a good choice to form an alliance with the demon empire, though? I heard they are bloodthirsty..."
It was then that all of their ears perked as they picked up the first negative remark in a while.
Until now, all they heard were dubious and thoughtful remarks; they were all just curious about how this alliance would go on. No one was showing any bad opinion on this decision.
Yeah, the demi-humans were not the ones who looked at people the way others looked, and they won't call demons evil just because the world did so, but there must be some who believed in the world, right?
If there was not a single person like that, then it would seem that Theron had made sure that no one talked about those things in front of them, which, although thoughtful, wasn't as transparent as they wanted things to be.
So, the moment they heard the negative remark, they knew that things weren't manipulated, and it was just how the demi-humans were.
For now, however, they waited for how the public reacted to those words.
The ones who were most focused on those chats were Seraphyra, Alina, and Luna.
Seraphyra was because she thought of herself as someone who would help the empire reach new heights once she had reached a certain position. Just because she couldn't become the demon lord didn't mean that she wouldn't want to see her empire progress.
Then there was Selina; her reason for listening to each and every word about the demons and the demon empire was already stated above—she was the guardian of the demon empire.
As for Luna, well, she was curious about the reactions of the demi-humans because this was going to be the second empire she would expand her organization in, and by listening to the view of the people in this empire, she would know what kind of approach she should take with them.
"Man, what are you talking about? Bloodthirsty??"
After a weird silence that enveloped the area, they heard a voice laced with killing intent, causing the girls to frown, but it didn't end there.
"Yeah, you think there's someone more bloodthirsty than us?"
A woman's voice was heard, filled with the same amount of killing intent, if not more. It was as if she was doubting what she had heard.
The girls could feel the tension in the air rising. But they didn't make a move as they wanted to see how things went from there.
They never expected them to take it as an insult in the first place; they thought that it would turn into a discussion of how dangerous the demons were, but it didn't seem like that.
"Ah. No, no, that's not what I meant. What I meant is that we will finally have someone who can challenge us in that aspect!"
The first man, however, hurriedly explained what he wanted to say, excitement clear in his voice, and as soon as his words ended, the area again got enveloped in tense silence.
It seemed like they were not the only ones listening to the conversation; the others in the area were doing the same, causing the conversation to affect the mood of the entire area.
The next second, though, all of them burst into bouts of laughter, causing the atmosphere to relax, and everyone in the area returned to what they were doing with a smile on their faces.
"True that."
"Yeah, we can finally have more people to test our strength against."
"Oh, and I also heard that they have this thing where they go hunting the demonic beasts; let's make some of them our friends and ask them to take us to that place!"
The three demi-humans then started talking amongst themselves, and the girls, who were momentarily frozen by the sudden shift of the atmosphere, exchanged a glance before sighing in defeat.
What were they even expecting from the Ferox Empire?
There was no way these simple-minded people who followed the will of the strongest and only answered the powerful would try to talk bad about someone just because of what people thought.
So they just shook their heads, and with smiles on their faces, they walked ahead, wanting to truly enjoy their time now.
But just as they were about to move forward...
*Thud*
A dead body fell right in front of them, covered in blood and naked, causing the girls to almost let out a scream.
"What the fuck!"
Selina even kicked the body instinctively, causing it to go crashing into the tree, landing a mile away.
"What was that thing…?"
It was only after the dead body was kicked quite far away that she muttered, wondering what it was, causing the other girls to stare at her with an exasperated look, but soon, all of them just shrugged and walked ahead as if nothing had happened.
None of them even turned to look at the body that had been kicked away and seemed to be twitching in pain, as if it were alive.
It was the body of a boy with black hair, and his eyes, which seemed to have been opened by the sudden shock of the kick, were black in color.
The guy's body was twitching, and his eyes were wide open, but he was still unconscious and naked.
If one noticed closely, then they would realize that even though the guy was covered in blood from head to toe, it was Kamish Vladimir—the guy who had just escaped from the Eternal Prison.
