Chapter 82: Chapter 82 – System, Are You Trying to Get Me to Fight a War Between Gods?!
Chapter 82 – System, Are You Trying to Get Me to Fight a War Between Gods?!
As Asahi lifted Lugia into his arms, a system prompt suddenly rang in his mind.
[Through your efforts, you have saved a life that was on the brink of fading away. The newly hatched Lugia has chosen to join your team. You have captured your first Legendary Pokémon and obtained the title "The Beginning of a Legend."]
[Please select your reward:]
1. Sky Plate
2. Indigo Orb
3. Crimson Orb
"....."
Getting a title for capturing Lugia wasn't surprising.
But looking at these three rewards, Asahi fell into deep silence.
The first option, the Sky Plate, made sense. Lugia had the Flying type, so getting a Sky Plate seemed logical.
But the second and third options?
System, are you trying to push me into a legendary battle?!
Was it hinting that he should go defeat Kyogre, steal its Indigo Orb, and turn Lugia into the true Lord of the Sea?
…Did it think he was some Super Protagonist?
Asahi weighed his options. With his current strength, if he even got grazed by Kyogre's Origin Pulse, he'd be reduced to dust.
The "Beginning of a Legend" would immediately turn into the End of a Legend.
Shaking his head at the ridiculousness of it all, Asahi put the system's rewards aside for now.
Instead, he gently stroked Lugia's head and walked over to the railing of the ship.
He waved to the Unown, who were still lingering nearby, and conveyed through his Viridian Force:
"Lugia won't be returning with you. You guys should head home."
He had expected the Unown to be upset at the news.
Instead, they seemed… overjoyed.
Were they happy that Lugia had successfully hatched?
Or… were they just glad that their endless years of "overtime babysitting" had finally come to an end?
Either way, the Unown radiated pure relief before diving into the water, disappearing back into the ruins.
With the Unown gone, Asahi turned back to Professor Oak and Professor Sakuragi.
"Professor Oak, Professor Sakuragi, here's all the footage and data I collected underwater. I hope it helps your research."
Compared to capturing Lugia, the ancient murals and texts he had recorded might not seem like much.
But they still held some academic value.
For Professor Oak, the research might not be necessary. But for Professor Sakuragi, publishing a couple of papers based on this information could boost his credibility in the scientific community.

Blueport City – Harbor
By now, Asahi had already recalled Lugia into its Poké Ball to avoid drawing too much attention.
Still, having a Dragonair and a Dragonite beside him was enough to turn heads.
This was precisely why he had booked a private beach resort—in a public area, he'd be constantly stared at, making it hard to relax.
After returning to his hotel, Asahi rented a small conference room.
He handed over all the audio and video files, as well as the information he had gathered from the Unown, to Professor Oak and Professor Sakuragi.
He had no interest in writing research papers himself, but his contributions were significant enough that he'd probably be credited as a co-author.
Appearing in two Pokémon Professor publications at once?
Now, that would make his "Researcher" title feel a lot more legitimate.

"What are your plans next, Asahi?"
While waiting for the data transfer, Professor Oak asked curiously.
"I know a few other ruins… if you're interested, I could send you their locations."
Ever since discovering Asahi could communicate with the Unown, Professor Oak had been eager for him to investigate more ruins.
He even promised that any discoveries would belong solely to Asahi—he just wanted to satisfy his own curiosity.
But Asahi politely declined.
"Sorry, Professor Oak. I already promised Lance I'd be evaluating Kanto's Gym Leaders."
---
First stop?
He had planned to start easy with Cerulean City, but after hearing about the Vermilion Gym Leader selection, he changed his mind.
It would be interesting to see how the League handled things after Lt. Surge's arrest.
And hey, maybe he'd even run into Ash.
"Alright. I'll go after my vacation ends."
After all, nothing could interrupt his vacation time!
