Pokemon: The Master Of Monsters

Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Gambling for Scyther

Pinsir charged toward Squirtle, its solid frame aiming to overpower the tiny turtle Pokémon. Despite the warrior boy's Pinsir being relatively inexperienced, its menacing appearance made for an intimidating sight.

Gary smirked. "Squirtle, use Water Gun!"

Squirtle puffed up its cheeks and fired a continuous stream of water. Aiming carefully, Squirtle used the sheer force of the water to slow Pinsir down. However, Pinsir's natural bulk and strength allowed it to resist the attack, inching forward despite the onslaught.

"Not bad," Gary muttered, watching as Pinsir held its ground. Even though its level was low, Pinsir's species strength of 500 made it a formidable opponent.

"Pinsir, push through!" the warrior boy shouted, clenching his fists in encouragement.

Pinsir, emboldened by its Trainer's voice, surged forward with sheer determination, forcing the Water Gun back.

"Time to change tactics," Gary decided. "Squirtle, stop the Water Gun! Use Rapid Spin to gain some distance, and counter with Water Gun if Pinsir gets close again."

Squirtle immediately stopped its attack, withdrew into its shell, and began spinning rapidly. Using the momentum, it dashed around Pinsir, staying just out of reach.

Outmaneuvering Pinsir

"Armor..." Pinsir growled, clearly frustrated as it tried to keep up with the nimble Squirtle.

Though Pinsir's own speed wasn't bad, Squirtle's agile spinning made it nearly impossible to land a hit. Every time Pinsir got close, Squirtle fired another Water Gun to keep its opponent at bay.

"This..." The warrior boy stammered, unsure of how to handle such a strategy. As a Rookie Trainer, he had never seen such a calculated battle style before.

After several rounds of this cat-and-mouse game, Pinsir finally collapsed, unable to continue.

"Squirtle, great work!" Gary praised as Squirtle stopped spinning and poked its head out of its shell. The little turtle looked none the worse for wear, its resilience and balance shining through.

Reluctantly, the warrior boy recalled his fainted Pinsir. "Good job, Pinsir. Take a rest. Now, Metapod, it's your turn!"

With a flash of light, a green, crescent-shaped Metapod appeared.

The Risk of Metapod

Gary frowned, his interest waning at the sight of Metapod. "This battle is over. You've already lost."

"What? Why? My Metapod hasn't even battled yet!" the warrior boy protested.

"Idiot!" Gary snapped, his tone sharp. "Do you even understand how Metapod evolves? It can't eat or replenish its energy in this form. Every bit of strength it uses in battle comes from the reserves it had as a Caterpie. If it runs out of energy, it won't evolve—it will die."

The warrior boy froze, stunned by Gary's harsh words.

Gary continued, his voice firm. "Do you know how many Trainers lose their Metapods because they push them into battles like this? You're risking its life for your pride."

The boy's face paled as he recalled other Trainers' failed attempts to evolve their Metapods. The thought of losing his Pokémon made him shudder.

"I... I'm sorry," the warrior boy said, bowing his head in apology. "I didn't know. Thank you for telling me."

Gary softened slightly at the boy's sincerity. "As a Trainer, it's your responsibility to know your Pokémon and care for them properly. Don't make this mistake again."

"I promise I'll study more about Pokémon and train properly," the boy vowed.

Seeing that the boy had learned his lesson, Gary nodded. "Good. Now, according to our agreement, you need to fulfill your part of the deal."

Journey to Scyther

The warrior boy hesitated. "Are you sure you want to go now? That Scyther is extremely strong—it even drove me out of its territory once."

Gary smirked. "Don't worry. I have other Pokémon that can handle it."

"Okay," the boy relented. "But the area is hard to navigate on foot. Do you have a bike?"

Gary reached into his backpack and pulled out a compact screwdriver. In a few swift moves, he dismantled his mountain bike, folding it neatly into his bag.

The warrior boy's eyes widened in amazement. "Whoa! That's incredible! Where did you get a bike like that?"

"It's custom-made by the Fengma Group. Lightweight, durable, and easy to carry," Gary replied with a hint of pride.

The boy could only stare in awe as they set off.

Scyther's Territory

The duo made their way through the dense jungle, the forest growing eerily quiet as they approached Scyther's domain.

"Be careful," the boy whispered, his voice tense. "This Scyther has a bad temper. It attacks anything that enters its territory."

Gary smirked confidently. "Noted."

Suddenly, a blur of green shot through the trees, stopping just a few feet away.

"Zahhh!"

The Scyther let out a sharp cry, its scythes gleaming menacingly.

Gary's eyes lit up as he scanned the Pokémon. "Not bad. Definitely worth catching."

"Good luck," the warrior boy said nervously, stepping back to watch from a safe distance.

Battling Scyther

"Exeggutor, I choose you!" Gary threw a Poké Ball, releasing the coconut-like Grass/Psychic Pokémon.

"Exegguuutor!"

The three heads of Exeggutor turned to face Scyther, each with a different expression, adding a strange, almost comical air to the battlefield.

"Start with Reflect!" Gary commanded.

Scyther wasted no time, dashing forward in a blur of white light, aiming to strike Exeggutor. However, the shimmering barrier of Reflect blocked the attack, leaving Scyther momentarily stunned.

"Leech Seed!" Gary ordered.

Exeggutor launched three seeds from its heads. Scyther managed to slice through two of them with its sharp scythes, but the third seed landed, sprouting vines that wrapped tightly around its body.

The Leech Seed began sapping Scyther's energy, its vines clinging to the Bug/Flying Pokémon's midsection. Scyther slashed at the vines in frustration, but its movements were hampered.

"Now, Confusion!"

Exeggutor's eyes glowed as it unleashed a psychic wave, slamming into Scyther and leaving it dazed.

Gary watched the battle with satisfaction. "Keep it up, Exeggutor! We're almost there!"

Preparing to Capture

Despite its strength and agility, Scyther was visibly weakening under the combined effects of Leech Seed and repeated Confusion attacks. Gary reached for an Ultra Ball, ready to make his move.

"This Scyther is mine," he said confidently, taking aim.

As the Ultra Ball soared through the air, Gary couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement. Capturing such a powerful Pokémon would give him a significant edge in his journey—and a chance to take down even the toughest opponents.
