After Combusken gained its air-stepping ability from the sixth activation of Speed Boost, Golbat's advantage in the air was drastically diminished, and the momentum of the battle immediately shifted.

Combusken left afterimages as it stepped through the air, appearing at one moment far below and in the next instant right before Golbat.

Golbat's eyes could no longer keep up with Combusken's movements—a terrifying prospect.

"Bang!"

Combusken finally landed a hit, slamming into Golbat from behind with Flame Charge, sending it hurtling through the air. Without giving Golbat a moment to recover, Combusken appeared in front of it again at lightning speed and struck with another Flame Charge.

For a while, Golbat was like a ball being batted back and forth in the air. Fortunately, Sato quickly commanded Golbat to use Steel Wing to protect itself, mitigating much of the damage from Combusken's relentless Flame Charge attacks.

Otherwise, with such a ferocious combo, even a large and resilient Pokémon like Golbat would have succumbed to the assault.

Still, the sustained attacks left Golbat badly injured, with numerous wounds on its body. If this continued, defeat was inevitable.

However, during this period of relentless strikes, Golbat gradually adapted to Combusken's incredible speed by sensing the air currents generated during its movements. It began to evade some of the attacks.

After continuously attacking for some time, Combusken began to feel the strain. The air-stepping technique was a short-lived burst ability that consumed tremendous energy.

Even for a Fighting-type Pokémon with exceptional stamina, the repeated use of air-stepping left Combusken fatigued, causing a slight decrease in its speed.

"Golbat, use Wing Attack!"

Sato's keen dynamic vision quickly picked up on Combusken's slowing movements.

He immediately seized the opportunity and ordered Golbat, which had now partially adapted to Combusken's speed, to counterattack.

As soon as Sato gave the command, Golbat's eyes gleamed. Its wings suddenly flapped with explosive force, propelling it forward at incredible speed.

Using its 360-degree ultrasonic echolocation, it pinpointed Combusken's location in an instant. Empowered by Flying-type energy, Golbat's wings struck Combusken squarely.

Combusken, whose legs were already growing numb, was caught off guard. It hadn't expected the heavily injured Golbat to launch such a powerful attack. Before it could retreat using its ability, it was too late.

"Use Flamethrower!"

Heiji's voice snapped Combusken back into focus, and a searing column of flames erupted from its mouth.

However, Golbat's Wing Attack had already landed solidly on Combusken, sending it hurtling to the ground.

The next moment, Combusken crashed heavily into the rocky terrain, while Golbat also fell from the sky in pain, having been directly hit by Combusken's Flamethrower.

Dust and debris clouded the battlefield, obscuring everyone's view.

"Wow!!!"

The spectators around the battlefield erupted in excitement at the intense exchange. Cheers and applause resounded for both Pokémon, though the majority seemed to favor the impressive air-stepping Combusken.

"Whoosh!"

A figure broke through the dust and rose back into the air. The blue body and wide bat wings revealed the identity of the first Pokémon to recover—it was Golbat.

Due to the hurried nature of Combusken's Flamethrower, its power had been relatively weak. Moreover, Golbat minimized the impact of its fall by spreading its wings to reduce the damage.

As a result, Golbat emerged from the collision with a significant advantage.

Meanwhile, as Golbat returned to the sky, the dust settled, revealing Combusken lying unconscious in a crater. Its body was covered in injuries, and it had fainted.

It was clear that Golbat's Wing Attack, a Flying-type move, dealt devastating damage to the Fighting-type Combusken. Combined with the injuries from its crash, it had completely overwhelmed the already weakened Pokémon.

The outcome left most of the audience in disbelief. They couldn't understand how Combusken, which had dominated moments ago, had suddenly been reduced to such a state.

"Come on, Combusken! Get up! Don't lose!!!"

Heiji, unable to accept the result, shouted encouragement to the fainted Combusken lying in the crater.

At this moment, the referee began silently counting down in their mind. If Combusken couldn't get back up within 10 seconds, the victory would go to Golbat.

Just as the count reached nine, Combusken seemed to hear Heiji's shouts of encouragement. Suddenly, its crimson eyes snapped open, blazing with an unyielding fighting spirit and deep unwillingness to give up.

With a burst of energy, it stood back up.

"Cha!!"

The moment Combusken got to its feet, it let out a loud cry. Fiery red energy erupted from within, enveloping its body in blue flames.

Almost immediately, a radiant yet gentle white light began to shine from its body.

"It's evolving!"

This thought crossed everyone's minds as they witnessed the spectacle. Heiji's face broke into an expression of overwhelming excitement.

On the other hand, Sato wore a look of resignation as he observed the scene. Still, he had no intention of interrupting the evolution.

With a wave of his hand, he signaled Golbat to stand down and not act recklessly.

Sato's gesture didn't go unnoticed by Heiji and the other experienced trainers in the audience. Their respect for Sato grew even more.

After all, it wasn't entirely unusual for some trainers to try and interrupt a Pokémon's evolution to maintain their advantage.

For Sato to allow an opponent's Pokémon to evolve in the middle of a fight, forfeiting his certain victory, was a testament to his exceptional sportsmanship.

Bathed in the light of evolution, Combusken's body began to transform. Its frame elongated, and its previously stocky legs grew longer and more muscular, granting it an impressive set of legs.

Soon, the evolution was complete. When the light faded, standing tall on the battlefield was a Blaziken with a powerful and imposing figure.

Blaziken opened its now-clear eyes, clenching its fists as flames burst forth from them. Its aura surged rapidly, growing more intense with each passing moment.

Sato immediately activated his system's detection ability to review Blaziken's updated data.

Blaziken's Data:

Pokémon: Blaziken

Level: 36

Type: Fire/Fighting

"Ah, as expected, its strength has increased significantly after evolving. This just made things a lot tougher," Sato muttered, feeling the weight of the challenge intensify as he analyzed Blaziken's enhanced stats.
