Chris decided to experiment.
He tried to absorb the Red Orb and Blue Orb into his body, but neither would merge with him.
Chris suspected it was because these two gemstones were still sealed. Whether they would work or not could only be determined after breaking their seals.
"Teleport," Chris commanded Gardevoir.
Gardevoir immediately raised its hand to activate the move.
Chris's body flickered—a sensation like jumping off a speeding train—and his brain experienced that familiar disorientation and dizziness that came with instantaneous materialization.
By the time his vision cleared, Chris had already reached the summit of Sky Pillar.
"I should avoid vertical teleportation in the future," he thought. The dizziness wasn't just from the spatial displacement; there was also the steep temperature drop at this altitude and the thinner oxygen content in the air.
Raising his head, Chris saw a hazy mist before his eyes.
But through the foggy veil, he could still make out a powerful dark green form!
The massive dragon-shaped body was coiled in a ring, its enormous dragon head resting on its body. Even with its eyes closed, it radiated an overwhelming aura of intimidation!
"Rayquaza, I've finally found you!" Chris took a shallow breath.
Among all legendary Pokémon, Rayquaza was his favorite after Mewtwo.
And frankly, what Trainer wouldn't want to capture the most powerful dragon Pokémon in the world?
Chris attempted to move forward but was immediately blocked by the hazy fog.
This was no ordinary mist, but an invisible protective barrier!
"To awaken Rayquaza, I need to break through this shield," Chris thought. This posed no problem for him, so he threw a Poké Ball.
"Greninja, Evolution! Use Water Shuriken!"
When Greninja completed its Evolution and hurled the golden Water Shuriken into the mist, the seemingly fragile barrier demonstrated defensive power comparable to an Iron Defense.
"Fsssssh..."
It was like a blade cutting through steel, yet the attack merely brushed aside a corner of the mist.
"That kind of attack doesn't work?" Chris was shocked. The power of Greninja's Water Shuriken was a move that could instantly defeat Elite-level Pokémon!
Was the power of legendary Pokémon really this terrifying?
Even the protective barrier of a sleeping Rayquaza had such formidable defense—how overwhelming must the Pokémon itself be?
No wonder evil organizations coveted the power of legendary Pokémon. They truly could reshape or destroy the world!
"If one can't do it, then I'll use six," Chris decided, abandoning the notion of gradually increasing his attack power. He sent out six Pokémon simultaneously.
"Garchomp, Mega Evolution! Use Draco Meteor!"
"Gardevoir, Mega Evolution! Use Psychic!"
"Tyranitar, Mega Evolution! Use Hyper Beam!"
"Blaziken, use Blaze Kick!"
"Salamence, use Draco Meteor!"
After four consecutive Mega Evolutions, Chris suddenly turned pale.
His physical endurance was impressive, but previously, he had at most triggered two Mega Evolutions simultaneously while using Z-Moves. Now, with four Pokémon Mega Evolving together and unleashing powerful attacks, it was taking its toll.
Chris suddenly felt as though his energy was being drained, like water squeezed from a sponge.
"My stamina still isn't sufficient. If I want to maximize their power, I'll need to continue my physical training," Chris thought while panting heavily, already planning his future conditioning regimen.
If other Trainers knew what he was thinking, they'd likely bang their heads against the wall in disbelief.
Who in their right mind would attempt to maintain four Mega Evolutions simultaneously?
"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!!!"
The six Pokémon attacked one after another, each using their most powerful moves.
For a moment, the combined assault battered the invisible barrier.
Finally, this defense proved not to be completely impenetrable. The mist rippled and parted under the pressure and collision of energy.
Perhaps sensing the disturbance of the attack, Rayquaza awakened from its deep slumber.
Its eyes opened slowly!
In the center of those black eyes gleamed a majestic golden ring!
Instantly, all of Chris's Dragon-type and Flying-type Pokémon felt a powerful suppression.
Especially Salamence—the moment Rayquaza awakened, it was pressed to the ground, unable to rise.
Garchomp suffered the same fate.
Because Garchomp had undergone Mega Evolution, Chris could vaguely sense what Garchomp and Salamence were experiencing: Rayquaza's suppression wasn't merely a difference in strength or temperament, but a dominance embedded in their very blood!
As dragon Pokémon facing the mightiest of their kind, their only option was submission!
Rayquaza's position clearly transcended its title as "Lord of the Skies"—it undoubtedly held divine status among dragon Pokémon.
Rayquaza's body floated upward, its black eyes still fixed on Chris, as if waiting for him to explain why he had disturbed its slumber.
The scene reminded Chris of tales from dragon mythology.
Before Chris could offer an explanation, Rayquaza sensed something amiss in the world below. It looked around alertly.
"ROAR!!"
With a thunderous roar, Rayquaza immediately flew toward Sootopolis City.
Thanks to his Soothe Bell, Chris could understand what that roar expressed even without using the Jade Orb:
"What are those two idiots doing now?"
Well, ignoring the somewhat condescending tone, the message was clear—something was happening with Groudon and Kyogre.
Watching Rayquaza depart, Chris checked his treasure detector again. After confirming there were no treasures left behind, he descended to the first floor, took out his Escape Rope, and returned to the entrance of Sky Pillar.
He had no desire to experience long-distance teleportation again.
Once back at the gate of Sky Pillar, Chris immediately called upon Salamence to use Fly, heading toward Sootopolis City.
The narrative shifts back to story mode.
Rayquaza had already landed between Groudon and Kyogre. Thanks to its unique Ability "Air Lock," the sky above Sootopolis Island showed neither harsh sunlight nor heavy rain—only calm, peaceful blue skies.
However, neither Groudon nor Kyogre halted their battle because of Rayquaza's arrival. Instead, they attacked it in unison.
"Precipice Blades!"
"Origin Pulse!"
