Pokémon: No Way! The Golden Finger Only Comes When I'm About To Die!?

Chapter 130: Tonight, We Feast on Beans!

Meanwhile, Floette followed Greninja's suggestion and purchased an Incense.

Using an Incense not only helps relax the mind and aids sleep, but it also leaves a pleasant scent on the body—truly multipurpose, making it an ideal choice for Floette.

After paying, Floette happily carried the fragrance and left.

Greninja called out loudly.

"Greninja~ Greninja~"

Don't forget to take care of your card! If you're not using it, you can keep it in your room.

For every Pokémon that came to shop, Greninja and Delphox gave the same reminder, as instructed by Angie.

Not long after Floette left the shop, Cinccino arrived.

"Cinccino~ Cinccino~"

I want something to help maintain my fur!

Cinccino nimbly hopped onto the counter, its intent clear, and spoke directly to Greninja.

Greninja immediately understood and retrieved a bottle of shampoo from behind the counter, placing it in front of Cinccino.

"Greninja!l~ Greninja~"

Use this to bathe every day—it'll keep your fur silky and shiny.

Hearing this, Cinccino's eyes lit up.

"Cinccino~"

I'll take it!

With that, it handed over its card.

Greninja, smiling, completed the transaction. Cinccino then hugged the shampoo and dashed back to its room.

Once Cinccino had left, more Pokémon arrived. Greninja quickly called out.

"Greninja~ Greninja~"

Line up! Everyone line up! If you don't line up, you can't buy anything!

Hearing this, the Pokémon obediently formed a queue.

Next up were two Watchog, standing side by side at the counter, they grinning and showing off their prominent front teeth.

"Watchog~ Watchog~"

Do you have anything that can care for our teeth?

"Greninja~"

Wait just a moment.

Greninja smiled and turned to retrieve two tubes of toothpaste from behind the counter.

"Greninja~ Greninja~"

These are imported Alolan sea salt toothpastes. Brush twice a day, morning and night, and your teeth will be shiny and white!

"Watchog~ Watchog~"

We'll take them! We'll take them!

The two Watchog were immediately bought the items.

Greninja handed them the toothpaste and even provided each of them with a new electric toothbrush.

The two Watchog had just left when a Swablu eagerly landed on the counter, raising its wings and exclaiming:

"Swablu~ Swablu~"

My wings are so troublesome to groom every day. Do you have any recommendations?

Without hesitation, Greninja took out a grooming kit and introduced it to Swablu.

Swablu hated having its wings get wet, so with the included blow dryer, it would never have to worry about damp feathers again. Plus, the kit came with feather care products to keep its wings dry and fluffy all day long.

"Greninja~ Greninja~"

Not only can you use it, but your parents can too—very cost-effective!

Swablu was thrilled by Greninja's pitch.

"Swablu~ Swablu~"

Buy it! Buy it!

With a dramatic wave of its wing, it slapped its card onto the counter, looking every bit the wealthy spender.

When Angie arrived, he happened to overhear Greninja's enthusiastic sales pitch. He couldn't help but give it a big thumbs-up.

Amazing! Absolutely amazing! Greninja was a born as salesperson. To think it had only been a guardian of Nebel Plateau before—such a waste of talent!

Greninja was a little embarrassed under its boss's gaze, but the next wave of Pokémon customers quickly shifted its attention back to work.

Not only was Greninja's counter bustling with business, but Delphox's area was just as crowded, with an even longer line than the general store.

A Poliwhirl carried a Poliwag to the counter. Poliwag, in its crisp little voice, asked.

"Poliwag~ Poliwag~"

I want to buy a toy.

Delphox pondered for a moment, then had a sudden inspiration. It pulled out a Psyduck toy that was slightly larger than Poliwag.

Of course, it wasn't a real Psyduck, but a Psyduck-shaped toy made for water play.

The toy had a recessed area on its back where small Pokémon could lie down. Once placed in water, the toy would float, letting the Pokémon drift leisurely along the surface.

Poliwag loved lying on lily pads to sunbathe, but lily pads didn't move, unlike this fun new toy.

Hearing Delphox's explanation, Poliwag began hopping excitedly around Poliwhirl, imagining itself floating downstream on the toy—it sounded wonderful.

Poliwhirl, with a grand gesture, slapped its card onto the counter.

"Poliwhirl~"

We'll take it!

After Poliwhirl left with Poliwag and the Psyduck toy, the other Poliwag waiting in line erupted in excitement.

"Poliwag~"

I want one too!

"Poliwag~"

Me too!

Soon, similar toys featuring Squirtle, Lotad, Lapras, Pelipper, Wailmer, and more were being sold one after another. In no time, they were completely sold out.

After all, Poliwag formed a large community in Nebel Plateau.

"Wooper~"

I want one too!

"Wooper~"

Me as well!

Two Wooper gazed up with their big, watery eyes, looking absolutely adorable as they stared at Delphox.

Like Poliwag, Wooper loved lying on lily pads to nap.

Delphox was nearly overwhelmed by their cuteness, but the toys were all gone.

"Delphox~ Delphox~"

How about buying something else? I'll let you know when more come in stock.

The two Wooper looked crestfallen.

Just then, Delphox pulled out a ball and said, "Why don't you get this instead? You can play with it on the water! Remember the Poké Soccer that Volcanion and the others played with? With this ball, you can play too!"

The Wooper's eyes lit up at the suggestion, and they immediately agreed.

After completing the purchase, the two Wooper left happily, carrying their ball.

Little did they know, that ball would make them the most popular members of their group. Other Water-type Pokémon soon brought gifts to win the Wooper's favor, all hoping to join in the fun.

After the Wooper departed, a few Murkrow landed on the counter.

"Murkrow~ Murkrow~"

Due to their nature, both Honchkrow and Murkrow loved shiny objects. As soon as they arrived, they expressed their need for something sparkly.

Not only did they want shiny things for themselves, but they also wanted some for Honchkrow.

Hearing the Murkrow's request, Delphox immediately placed a bag of glass marbles in front of them.

"Delphox~"

How about these?

The Murkrow were instantly captivated by the shiny and colorful glass marbles.

"Murkrow~ Murkrow~"

We'll take them all, we'll take them all!

Next, Delphox brought out a few pendants and said with a smile, "These even glow in the dark!"

The Murkrow widened their eyes in amazement.

"Murkrow~ Murkrow~"

We'll take those too!

After paying, the Murkrow excitedly flew away, carrying their glass marbles and glowing pendants. They couldn't wait to share their treasures with their boss.

As the Murkrow flew off, a Scovillain carried a Capsakid to the counter.

"Capsakid~ Capsakid~"

I want that too.

Capsakid said while pointing at the glass marbles.

Unlike the Murkrow, who loved shiny objects, Capsakid was simply intrigued by the marbles as toys.

"Delphox~"

No problem.

Delphox handing over a bag of marbles to the Capsakid.

The three Capsakid eagerly grabbed the bag and hopped off the counter, already excited to start playing. Left behind, the two Scovillain sighed and paid for their purchases.

Thanks to the grand opening of the snack shop and the general goods store, the Pokémon's lives had become much more vibrant. Everyone was in high spirits, and nearly every Pokémon stopped by to shop. Even Volcanion wasn't an exception—it bought a bottle of oil specially designed to maintain and protect its scales.

And as for Volcanion, who didn't have a job? Its paycheck came from the fact that the Nebel Plateau's perpetual spring-like weather was thanks to its efforts. Even without working, Volcanion earned its share.

Over the next ten days, the snack shop and general store became the Pokémon's favorite hangouts, far surpassing Angie's expectations. He even had to call Jeremy over to restock once.

One lazy afternoon, Angie, feeling idle, brought out a lounge chair just outside the wall. With a Munchlax in his arms, he lay back and leisurely watched Volcanion playing soccer with a group of Pokémon.

Suddenly, Angie received a system notification. Curious, he tapped it open, and a prompt appeared.

[ (Ingredient Cultivation Task 1) Grow and sustain a crop of Plump Beans – Completed. ]

[ Reward: Waiting to be claimed. ]

Hmm? Angie was taken aback. It's finished just like that?

He had been puzzled for some time. By all appearances, his Plump Beans were thriving, so the task should've been marked as completed long ago. Yet, the system had continued to show it as incomplete. Angie had eventually stopped worrying about it, leaving the task alone—only for it to suddenly resolve itself today.

Could something have changed in the bean field?

Curious, Angie gently patted Munchlax's cheek.

"Munchlax, wake up!"

The little Pokémon had been using Angie's lap as a pillow and was sound asleep.

When Munchlax didn't stir, Angie chuckled, got up, and carefully moved it onto the lounge chair. Adjusting its position to make it more comfortable, he let it continue sleeping.

With Angie's current strength, lifting a 200-pound Munchlax was effortless.

Watching its peaceful sleeping face, Angie shook his head with a smile before heading toward the vegetable garden.

When he arrived, he saw the Dolliv sitting side by side on the edge of the field with the Dugtrio brothers.

The Dolliv had just cast Grassy Terrain on the bean field and were now happily sharing some snacks with the Dugtrio.

They alternated between nibbling their treats and feeding bites to the Dugtrio while sipping fruity sodas. Their cheerful chatter painted a picture of contentment.

Seeing Angie approach, the four Pokémon quickly ran over to him. Angie patted each one on the head and said with a smile, "Go on, enjoy yourselves. I'm just here to check on the beans."

The four Pokémon nodded and then sat back down on the ridge of the field.

Angie walked into the bean field and quickly figured out why the system task showed as completed.

The beans had ripened and were ready to eat!

Here, "ripe" didn't mean fully mature but referred to the tender, young Plump Beans that were perfect for eating.

Looking at the lush green pods hanging from the stalks, Angie was overjoyed. Various ways of cooking Plump Beans began flashing through his mind.

Plump Beans with scrambled eggs, Plump Beans stewed with chicken, Plump Beans stir-fried with chili peppers, green bean sauce, Plump Beans with pickled vegetables…

Before he realized it, drool was already dripping down his chin.

Then, he began picking the bean pods.

Tonight's dinner would be Plump Beans!

The two Dolliv on the field ridge saw this and quickly joined Angie to help pick the pods.

Angie smiled at them and said, "Thank you so much! Tonight, we'll have Plump Beans. After all your hard work cultivating them, it's time to finally enjoy the fruits of your labor."

One of the Dolliv plucked a bean pod and asked Angie curiously.

"Dolliv~"

Is this tasty?

Angie replied, "You'll know when you taste it tonight."

Hearing that, her face lit up with anticipation.

The other Dolliv, driven by curiosity, popped a freshly picked bean pod into her mouth.

"Dolliv! Dolliv!"

After chewing twice, she immediately scrunched up her face and spat it out.

The pod was tough, and its surface was covered in tiny hairs—definitely unpleasant to eat!

Angie burst out laughing at the sight. "Dolliv, you're not supposed to eat the pod!"

As he spoke, he picked another pod, peeled it open, and revealed the tender, juicy Plump Beans inside. "Look, we eat the beans inside."

The two Dolliv's eyes lit up. Mimicking Angie's actions, they peeled open the pods and popped two beans into their mouths.

"Dolliv~"

It's so delicious!

"Dolliv~"

It's so tasty!

This time, their faces were full of delight.

Angie shook his head. "Raw beans aren't that good."

Soon, with the combined efforts of Angie and the o Dolliv, they had picked a large basket of beans. They headed home together with the haul.

When Diancie saw Angie place the basket at the door, she asked in confusion, "What's this?"

Angie smiled and replied, "The beans are ready to eat. We'll have this for dinner tonight."

Then, he called into the house, "Drizzile, Gengar, Magearna, come out and help!"

As soon as he spoke, Drizzile and the others came out of the house.

The whole family grabbed small stools and sat around the door, peeling beans together. They chatted as they worked, laughter filling the air.

As the sun began to set and the sky darkened, Volcanion returned from playing soccer. Seeing everyone busy at work, it quietly lay down nearby, occasionally chiming in on the conversation.

Not long after, Munchlax came running back, carrying the lounge chair on its back.

"Munchlax~ Munchlax~"

Angie laughed and asked, "Munchlax, did you have a good nap?"

"Munchlax~ Munchlax~"

Master, why didn't you wake me when you left?

It squeezed into the circle, joining everyone to peel beans.

Angie replied, "You sleep so peaceful, I didn't want to disturb you."

By the time they finished peeling all the beans, the other Pokémon, who had been working or playing outside, started coming back home.

Angie quickly brought his three apprentices into the kitchen to prepare dinner, while the Pokémon sat in small groups around the tables, eagerly awaiting the meal.

As the sky darkened, Diancie casually turned on the outdoor lights, and the warm glow illuminated everyone.

She and Magearna laughed and chatted as they walked into the house together.

Volcanion lay near the doorway, gazing at the light streaming out of the house. It listened to the faint laughter of Magearna inside and the lively chatter of the Pokémon not far away…

It let out a soft yawn, closed its eyes, and rested its head on its front paws.

What delicious food would tonight's dinner bring?
