"Garchomp, use Earthquake! Greninja, use Ice Beam!"

Garchomp roared and stomped its powerful feet against the floor. The entire second level of the Pokémon Tower began to tremble violently. Despite the tower's solid construction, it stood no chance against the might of a Champion-level Pokémon.

Energy surged through the ground as the tremors intensified. Nearly everyone—both humans and Pokémon—lost their footing and tumbled to the floor.

Sabrina, however, remained unaffected. The moment Eddie made his command, she and her Alakazam used their psychic abilities to levitate safely above the shaking ground.

Though she was unharmed, Eddie's actions left her stunned.

"Is this idiot treating everyone as an enemy?" she thought. "Does he actually intend to kill them all?"

While Sabrina wasn't exactly known for her kindness, she would never participate in such large-scale harm to humans and Pokémon, especially those under mind control.

Her confusion lasted only briefly before understanding dawned on her. After Garchomp's Earthquake scattered everyone across the floor, it immediately ceased its attack.

That's when Greninja opened its mouth, releasing a brilliant beam of cold light. The Ice Beam wasn't aimed to harm the controlled people and Pokémon, but to freeze their hands and feet to the floor, effectively immobilizing them without causing serious injury.

"First using Earthquake to scatter the targets, then following with Ice Beam to freeze them in place," Sabrina realized. "A method to restrain them without causing permanent damage—just minor frostbite at worst."

Sabrina reassessed Eddie. Perhaps he wasn't as simple-minded as she'd initially thought. With just two strategic moves, he had resolved what seemed like an impossible situation.

She recalled how Eddie had escaped from her grasp earlier—using only three moves to slip away from a Quasi-Elite Trainer like herself. Though she had been momentarily distracted, that alone shouldn't have allowed a regular Trainer to evade her so easily.

As Eddie approached her position, Sabrina immediately assumed a defensive stance. In her assessment, despite his seemingly foolish demeanor, Eddie had proven himself extremely capable in actual combat. With that dragon at his disposal, even she would struggle in a direct confrontation.

Though victory seemed unlikely, Sabrina had no intention of surrendering without a fight.

"Miss," Eddie began, "after observing you, I've concluded you're not a Gastly in disguise, so..."

"I'm really sorry," he continued with an embarrassed smile, his tone laced with guilt as if he had made a terrible mistake.

Eddie had decided to maintain his act, partly because he found it amusing, but also for strategic reasons. Sabrina couldn't leave now, and since she had come to investigate why Team Rocket had lost contact, Eddie could potentially convince her to work with him. An additional ally would certainly be advantageous.

"...It's fine. Since you recognized your mistake and apologized, let's just forget about it," Sabrina replied.

But forgetting wasn't truly an option. Sabrina was thoroughly irritated and not known for her patience. She had already decided to report this incident. Her current cordial demeanor was merely a facade, necessitated by Eddie's powerful Pokémon partner.

"Ahem, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Morning Sun. And you are, young lady?"

Eddie carefully studied Sabrina's face, noting that she hadn't recognized him yet. This worked in his favor.

He knew Koga had encountered him previously, and Team Rocket should have reported his information to their boss by now. For some reason, Sabrina, despite being the third executive, didn't seem to recognize Eddie. Perhaps his description hadn't been circulated throughout Team Rocket yet, or Sabrina simply hadn't paid attention to the reports.

Either way, this gave Eddie an advantage—he could continue his charade and potentially secure Sabrina's cooperation in investigating the Pokémon Tower.

"My name is Sa—ahem, my name is Sofia."

Sabrina had almost revealed her real name before catching herself. She suddenly remembered that this man had previously mentioned knowing Sabrina personally. If she exposed his lie now, would the angry Morning Sun turn on her?

Eddie's acting skills were impressive enough that Sabrina now completely believed him to be someone else, and she feared provoking him.

"Sofia? Pfft—ahem, well then, Miss Sofia, would you accompany me to investigate this Pokémon Tower?"

Eddie nearly broke into laughter but managed to contain himself. He understood why Sabrina had used a fake name and decided not to expose her. After all, he was playing his own role in this charade.

"Investigate the Pokémon Tower? Are you here for that purpose as well?"

Sabrina's attention was caught by Eddie's proposition, momentarily distracting her from noticing his suppressed amusement.

When she had first arrived in Lavender Town, she had attempted to question the locals about the Pokémon Tower's situation. However, they had completely ignored her, hurrying past as if avoiding something unpleasant.

Considering herself attractive, Sabrina found this treatment infuriating—first being attacked by Eddie who mistook her for a ghost, then being disregarded by the townspeople. Her anger had reached its peak.

Rather than persisting with her questioning, she had decided to investigate the tower directly, only to encounter Eddie again. She had wanted to vent her frustration, but faced with his Champion-level Pokémon, what could she do?

Now, hearing that Eddie was also investigating the tower, Sabrina finally saw a silver lining. Though Eddie seemed foolish, his powerful Pokémon made him a valuable ally. Perhaps completing this investigation would be easier than expected.

Sabrina's anger persisted, but focusing on the task might improve her mood. Besides, she thought she could use Eddie to exact a small revenge later.

"Yes, when I arrived in Lavender Town..." Eddie began, understanding Sabrina's thoughts perfectly. If their positions were reversed, he'd likely have similar reactions. But who was really manipulating whom in this scenario?

Eddie shared his information freely, excluding only his speculations about the mastermind behind the events. Sabrina agreed that the situation must be human-orchestrated and consented to continue the investigation with Eddie.

Both wore satisfied smiles, seemingly pleased with the arrangement as they proceeded to the next floor of the tower.
