Isn't it silly to sleep outside when a room is available?

Pidgeot didn't pay attention to what Evan said and chose to sleep outside anyway.

After following Evan out, it quickly made its way upstairs.

There was a room there that it had long set its sights on.

From now on, this would be its space.

The breeding house had many vacant rooms set up as dormitories for Pokémon.

Apart from the main building, there were two separate houses outside.

These served as additional accommodations for Pokémon.

After tending to Charmander, Evan gave it some milk before bringing it back to his room to rest.

Pikachu and Ralts followed closely behind.

Once the three little Pokémon were settled, Evan stepped out to wash up.

After finishing, he returned to rest.

As soon as Evan lay down, Ralts crawled into his arms.

It snuggled close to him and fell asleep contentedly.

Being so adored by Psychic-type Pokémon could sometimes be a hassle.

But this little one was just too endearing.

Evan sighed internally but didn't dwell on it.

Instead, he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.

...

The next morning, Evan was awakened by the playful antics of his Pokémon.

Pikachu, Ralts, and Charmander were already tumbling around, full of energy.

Evan stretched, letting out a big yawn, and addressed the lively trio:

"Alright, alright, calm down."

"I've got work to do today, so let's get moving."

"Ralts," he continued, "Sophia asked me to train you, so you'll need to put in some effort."

"Pikachu, take Ralts to the back mountain."

"You know what to do—fight the wild Pokémon there."

For now, that would be their training routine.

Battling the Caterpie in the area wasn't too challenging, but it was enough for these two at their current level.

After they gained enough experience, they'd be unstoppable.

With some effort, Ralts might even evolve into Gardevoir.

That would be a significant milestone.

Over the next few days, Evan will find himself too busy to monitor the training closely.

He will be occupied with crafting energy cubes.

As Evan spoke, the three Pokémon quickly jumped out of bed and dashed outside.

Charmander eagerly joined Pikachu and Ralts, and the trio appeared to get along wonderfully.

Pikachu and Ralts were especially attentive to the young Charmander, looking after it like caring siblings.

Once the Pokémon left, Evan got up, brushed his teeth, and headed downstairs.

The children from the orphanage had already arrived.

They were busy preparing, placing yesterday's low-level energy cubes into basins.

These were meant to feed the wild Pokémon later in the day.

Not only that, Pidgeot had also woken up early and was already munching on energy cubes.

"Brother Evan, good morning," greeted Lily, a nine-year-old girl, as she spotted him entering.

Hearing her, the other children turned to look as well.

Evan quickly returned the greeting.

"Good morning! Have you all had breakfast?"

At his question, the children chirped excitedly, their voices overlapping.

"We have!"

"Aunt Jennmade it for us early this morning."

"We even brought some for you!"

"We're having steamed buns today."

"It's inside—go eat!"

"Yes, yes, it's inside."

"Brother Evan, hurry up and eat. Leave everything here to us—we'll feed the Pokémon!"

Hearing their cheerful responses, Evan chuckled.

"All right, I'll go eat now. Thanks for your help!"

With that, he turned and headed into the house.

It was comforting to know that the kids were so dependable. Even if he couldn't get up early, they always showed up to help feed the Pokémon.

Still, Evan knew they would soon be heading off to school. It was becoming clear that he needed to hire more helpers.

He began to plan as he ate breakfast. **Perhaps the aunties would know someone reliable to recommend.**

After finishing his meal, Evan carried his thoughts with him as he stepped outside, heading to the orphanage to discuss matters with Aunt Jennand the others.

Aunt Jennand the other caretakers usually had light workloads. However, Evan had recently introduced them to making low-level energy cubes for wild Pokémon, which had kept them busier than before.

Without this new task, their responsibilities were mostly limited to cleaning and looking after the kids.

In total, there were five caretakers.

One was the main cook, two managed the children, and the remaining two were in charge of cleaning the orphanage.

But now, they all had new responsibilities—helping to make energy cubes.

When Evan arrived at the orphanage, he went straight to the small workshop where the caretakers were busy. Without hesitation, he asked:

"Aunt, I'm planning to hire two more people to help at the breeding house. Do you have anyone to recommend?"

The aunts paused their work and turned to look at him.

"Evan, do you really need to hire more people?" one asked.

"If there's anything that needs doing, just leave it to us!" another chimed in.

"Yes, yes," the others agreed. "We're not too busy most of the time."

"And you've already been paying us wages. You don't need to spend extra on more help."

Their voices overlapped, full of reassurance that they could manage everything.

It was clear these women were dedicated and hardworking. After all, during the time of the old dean, the orphanage could barely afford to pay them. Despite this, they had stayed on without complaint, working selflessly to support the children and the orphanage.

They could have easily found better-paying jobs elsewhere, but they didn't. They stayed, becoming a vital part of the orphanage's community.

Evan had grown up under their care, and his respect for them ran deep.

Looking at the familiar, caring faces of the aunts, Evan sighed and said with a gentle smile:

"I can't let you handle everything on your own. The breeding house needs a few younger people to help take care of the Pokémon. If business grows in the future, you'll all be overwhelmed, even if you want to help."

He shook his head, rejecting their kind offer.

"I'd rather you focus on making the energy cubes and taking care of the orphanage. Leave the rest to the new recruits."

The aunts exchanged glances, understanding his reasoning.

After a moment, Aunt Jenn spoke up thoughtfully:

"Well, how about this? Isla will be graduating soon. Why not have her come back to help you? I heard she recently earned her intermediate breeder certificate."

Her eyes lit up as she continued, "She could work at the breeding house and learn from you at the same time! It would be perfect."

The suggestion made sense. Isla was Aunt Jenn's daughter, and she had been pursuing a career in Pokémon care. With her graduation approaching and an internship required in her next semester, joining the breeding house could provide her with valuable experience.

Evan considered the idea, his mind already calculating how it might work.
