Pokemon: Cheat System

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

"Breaking news! Due to the illegal actions of the two criminal organizations, 'Team Magma' and 'Team Aqua,' the battle between the ancient Pokémon Groudon and Kyogre has severely damaged large parts of the Hoenn Region."

On the TV screen, the solemn-faced news anchor read out the grim report about the disaster, vividly portraying the apocalyptic scenes in the Hoenn Region. It was nothing short of a living nightmare.

"BOOM!"

At the boundary where land and sea met, the sky appeared as if split into two distinct realms, resembling a chessboard divided along sharp lines.

One side burned under a glaring sun, the cloudless sky radiating blinding light. The heat was so intense that even the air warped, shimmering with suffocating, blistering white smoke capable of scalding human skin.

The other side was enshrouded in dense black clouds, crackling with lightning. Needle-like raindrops, carried by a howling gale, poured down from the heavens. The icy, bone-piercing chill permeated the air, while the torrential rain reduced visibility to almost nothing.

The reporter on-site, clearly a fearless daredevil, kept filming despite maintaining a safe distance from the epicenter of the chaos. Even from that far away, viewers could feel the raw, overwhelming danger emanating from the screen.

The spectacle of nature's opposing forces clashing at such a scale was truly awe-inspiring.

But the stars of this apocalyptic battle had yet to appear…

"ROAR!!"

A feral, primeval roar tore through the tension, like the cry of a beast from an ancient wilderness.

A colossal crimson monster, towering dozens of meters high, emerged from behind a mountain range. With every step, it crushed the scorched, cracking earth beneath its feet. Its menacing figure was awe-inspiring, radiating overwhelming power.

It resembled a mythical behemoth, the kind that would dominate deserts in ancient tales. Rivers of magma erupted violently from the mountains, carrying the crimson beast toward the ocean as if it were seeking out its eternal rival. Savage hostility was etched across its monstrous face.

Its body, clad in crimson armor, glowed with veins of blue light coursing through the cracks. Its razor-sharp claws and protruding golden spikes gleamed menacingly, while its golden eyes burned with pure violence.

"SWOOSH!!"

Before the lava could reach the ocean, icy waves surged upward, towering hundreds of meters high. The ocean, refusing to yield, collided directly with the crimson beast's sea of magma.

"HISS!"

Scalding steam billowed into the air, engulfing both land and sky.

"EEEE!!"

A piercing cry soared above the chaos, cutting through the dense fog. A massive fin marked with crimson patterns surfaced, followed by a long, flowing ribbon-like tail—Kyogre had arrived.

"CRASH!"

Torrential waves shot up into the stormy sky, while…

"ZING!"

A beam of azure energy pierced through the towering waves, slashing through the molten lava and rain. It struck Groudon, who stood paralyzed and glaring at the heavens.

"BOOM!"

The deafening explosion shook the earth itself. The camera feed abruptly ceased, marking the human limit of what could be witnessed in this battle of titans.

"According to our field reporters, after a prolonged battle between the two ancient Pokémon, a mysterious green dragon Pokémon descended from the heavens. It drove away Groudon and Kyogre, putting an end to the disaster," the anchor continued.

Fuzzy images appeared on the screen, captured from a distance. Despite their poor quality, the photos all depicted the same thing: a sleek, green dragon slicing through the divided skies of sun and rain. It descended upon the battlefield to resolve the chaos.

Even in these grainy photos, its heavenly majesty shone, leaving everyone in awe.

"Following this incident, the cities of Mt. Chimney, Verdanturf Town, Mauville City, and Slateport City have suffered varying degrees of damage caused by Groudon's path of destruction. Relief efforts are underway…"

There was no doubt that Groudon had awakened on Mt. Chimney and instinctively moved toward the ocean, where it clashed with Kyogre—its eternal nemesis.

The cities along its path paid the price, bearing the brunt of its rampage.

"Click."

Having seen all the news he needed to know, Kai turned off the TV.

"Sigh…"

Even now, the memory of that fateful battle between the three titans sent shivers down his spine.

Eighteen years old, a freshman majoring in Pokémon Breeding, and a transmigrator—Kai was nothing special.

Not long ago, he had been transported to this world where Pokémon and humans coexisted peacefully. To his surprise, this world was a fusion of his original world and the Pokémon universe. Everything he had known from his previous life remained intact, yet the existence of Pokémon made it a dream come true.

Kai hadn't ended up in the canonical regions like Kanto, Johto, or Hoenn. Instead, he was in Dayan, a region representing China.

For a lifelong Pokémon fan like him, this world was paradise. With Pokémon incorporated into everyday life, it was everything he had ever dreamed of.

When he started university and received his first Pokémon—a Caterpie—his happiness soared to the heavens, despite its modesty.

Caterpie? So what?

Those who had been terrorized in battle by Butterfree's Sleep Powder combos would know its true potential. Even a Caterpie could take down a Rayquaza with Electroweb, given the right setup!

Kai was ready to enjoy life as a student, graduate from university, and decide whether to pursue Pokémon breeding or become a Trainer and travel the world. Everything was set for a peaceful life.

Then came the news about Team Magma and Team Aqua.

These Hoenn-based eco-terrorist organizations had stolen the Red and Blue Orbs from Mt. Pyre, awakening Groudon and Kyogre. Their actions ignited a global frenzy, with people speculating on how the Pokémon League would handle the threat of these ancient pokemons.

Some fans even posted ridiculous forum threads like, [If Magma and Aqua really awaken Groudon and Kyogre, how would the League respond?]

Kai chuckled, bemused by the debate. Unlike others, he knew the lore well: Rayquaza, the arbiter, would undoubtedly step in to restore balance.

"There's no need to worry," he thought smugly.

Kai: "It's fine, I'll step in!"

His joking, over-the-top comment instantly went viral, drawing plenty of laughter and replies.

[For real!]

[Bro, if you step in, it's going to be a literal Dragon Ascent!]

[Who says humans can't have an emperor?!]

[His Caterpie evolved into Rayquaza. I swear I saw it!]

The comment section was filled with banter and lighthearted fun.

But Kai had no idea his peaceful life had just ended. His system—a cheat-like companion—was about to make things far more complicated.

"BOOM!"

A loud explosion snapped him out of his thoughts.

"What?"

Confused, Kai looked out the window.

On his lawn lay his Caterpie, its pink Y-shaped antenna trembling. It looked back at him with a sheepish, human-like expression, still radiating Flying-type energy.

Nearby, the shattered remains of a training dummy lay scattered. Evidently, Caterpie had been practicing moves and overestimated its strength.

"..."

Silent, Kai opened his system menu, finding detailed stats on the move Caterpie had been training:

['Dragon Ascent' proficiency—20%.]
