Chapter 118: Chapter 118: The Strange Stone
In his previous life, Silas hadn't actually watched much of the Pokémon anime. He had basically only seen the stories from the Kanto, Orange Islands, and Johto regions. Once in a while, he'd catch a movie or two.
As for the rest, everything he knew came from hearsay or watching just one or two episodes. When it came to most things beyond Unova, he wasn't very familiar.
Deoxys happened to be one of the very few Mythical Pokémon he knew from his past life.
If I'd known I was going to transmigrate here, I would've at least replayed the storylines a dozen times and spent years playing the games! Damn it!
If his memory served him right, Deoxys had mutated from a space virus's DNA and could manipulate mysterious cosmic energy to change its form.
It looked like an alien and had four distinct forms, each emphasizing a different ability: Normal, Attack, Defense, and Speed.
The Pokémon on the tunnel mural had a body primarily orange-red, with a blue-green face and three blue-green dots on its back.
A purple stripe ran down its face, and a crystalline air pipe could be seen in its chest. Its rectangular black eye sockets contained white, circular eyes.
Though one form was missing, Silas was certain that thing was Deoxys.
Which meant… things just got a whole lot more dangerous.
Who knew if the end of this tunnel held a crystalized, slumbering Deoxys?
From what he remembered about its destructive power, that thing was insanely strong. At his current level, he wouldn't even be enough to get stuck between its teeth.
Silas came to an abrupt stop.
He stood there for a while, deep in thought. Then he bit his lip and continued walking along the direction the mural's story depicted.
At the very least, this mural has to be thousands, maybe tens of thousands of years old. There's no way a Pokémon could survive that long down here.
And even if it was still alive, it would probably be in a severely weakened crystal state. If I could somehow capture it... wouldn't that put me on the fast track to becoming a Champion?
The mural's story continued.
Three dragon-like Pokémon soared through the skies, while Kabutops and the Triceratops-like Pokémon fought on the ground, one attacking and the other defending against Deoxys.
The first three launched energy blasts that shattered the earth below them.
Kabutops's sharp scythe slashed across Deoxys's body, while the unknown Pokémon's stone-hard shield on its face blocked all frontal assaults from Deoxys.
On the mural, the sun and moon rotated repeatedly symbolizing the battle's long, drawn-out nature.
In the end, Deoxys emerged victorious. It burrowed underground, taking something unknown with it, and then flew off into the sky.
Silas finally let out a breath of relief. Good. At least the one inside isn't Deoxys. Honestly, he had been pretty worried.
But the mural wasn't over yet.
After Deoxys's departure, another unknown Pokémon appeared one Silas had never seen before.
Its body was entirely black, with orange hair and legs. Each arm had half of a shell, decorated with ornate patterns.
One mural depicted it closing its shells to form what looked like a glowing bird-shaped head.
This Pokémon had originally approached out of curiosity. But as the five exhausted Pokémon assumed defensive stances, it instantly radiated streams of energy and, with ease, defeated all five of them.
Silas tugged at the corner of his mouth. Don't tell me this Pokémon is the one inside... It looks like an Electric-type. What a terrible temper.
And it seems a lot stronger than Deoxys. Even if those five Pokémon were tired, the ease with which it beat them was ridiculous.
Thankfully, after defeating the five Pokémon with little effort, it left behind a stone-like object and then flew away.
The mural continued with scenes of ancient humans rebuilding their civilization.
At the very end of the mural, it showed that the mysterious stone was sealed in an underground tunnel and placed inside a shrine-like structure.
Silas looked up.
Right before him stood what was once a temple now in ruins.
At its center was a stone altar, and from his angle, he could indeed see a silver-gray stone sitting atop it.
He first let Boldore scan the area. There was no danger underground, and the earth could be manipulated normally. Only after that did Silas carefully approach the altar.
Once he got close, he examined the stone closely.
The stone was silver-gray overall, and when held vertically, the top featured a boomerang-like design.
At the center, a diamond-shaped pattern intertwined with a Z-shaped pattern.
Further down, there were small patches of different Boldor mostly yellow, which occupied the largest area.
What is this thing?
Silas was extremely curious. He had never seen this object before. Whether from the memories of his previous life or everything he had studied in this one, there was no record of such a stone.
It definitely wasn't a Mega Evolution stone those looked more like glass marbles, if he remembered correctly.
After thoroughly confirming there was no danger, he picked up the stone.
Although he didn't know what it was for, it was definitely something very precious.
Just from the mysterious and powerful Pokémon alone, he could tell it had to be a Legendary or Mythical Pokémon. Anything it left behind couldn't possibly be ordinary.
Placing the stone into his spatial backpack, Silas scouted the entire ruined temple once more. Other than rocks, there was nothing else.
As for that defensive mechanism at the entrance, he glanced at it. Silver-filled carvings surrounded the stone platform, and the center position was a recess that exactly matched the shape of the stone.
It was probably something that the stone had activated.
This also highlighted its extraordinary nature. So even though there were no other findings, Silas was more than satisfied.
He then instructed Blaziken and Boldore to destroy the murals in the back part of the ruins the ones depicting the appearance of the unknown Pokémon—as well as what remained of the temple ruins.
After working for nearly an hour, Silas looked at the completely unrecognizable passageway before him and nodded in satisfaction.
Although he hadn't planned on reporting this ruin to the Pokémon League right away after leaving, it was still necessary to cover it up in case someone else happened to stumble in and noticed something odd.
If no one discovered it for now, he would wait until he became strong enough and then report it to the League.
Exiting the passage, Boldore, relying on its exceptional sensory abilities, led Silas and Blaziken to another cave exit, which brought them back to the surface.
By this time, it was already around 3 or 4 in the afternoon.
Silas checked the map. Not bad he'd been moving closer to Lavender Town while traveling underground.
He recalled the two rather exhausted Pokémon, then released Pidgeot and flew straight to the entrance of Lavender Town.
The whole town was bustling with people, yet oddly silent. Even when people spoke, they did so in hushed voices.
Arriving at the Pokémon Center in Lavender Town, he handed the two Pokémon to Nurse Joy for recovery. Afterward, he rented a room for the night. Only then did Silas finally feel relaxed.
The sudden exploration earlier that afternoon had disrupted his original plans. There was no way he'd be able to reach Celadon City in time now.
Rather than rushing to finish his objectives, it was better to rest for a while.
After all, during the process of breaking through the ruins underground, not only had Blaziken been exhausted, but he had also expended a lot of energy.
Thanking Nurse Joy, Silas took his Pokémon back to his room.
Lying on the bed, he let out a deep breath.
Even though this wasn't his first time here, the atmosphere was still incredibly oppressive, he thought to himself.
